The Hotel Andreola Central is one of the many historical 4-star hotels in Milan that opened at the same time the Central train station moved to its current location, originally behind the Spanish walls (currently Piazza della Repubblica). The hotel is located in Via Scarlatti, an extension to the Central train station's Galleriadelle Carrozze which ends in Corso Bueonos Aires. Over the long and venerable years since its establishment, many VIPs have patronized the hotel: Fausto Coppi, the bicycle champion, prize-winning boxer Primo Carnera and Italian soccer stars during the sixties when the first player contracts were negotiated. Amenities are banquet facilities, bar, children's facilities, conference facilities, disabled facilities, dry cleaning, internet access-high speed, internet access-wireless, laundry service, lift/ elevator, lobby, non smoking rooms, parking facilities-at cost, pets alowed, reception, restaurant, room service and safe deposit box.

As you can probably gather, I spent one night at this hotel. With a late check-in and a VERY early check-out, I probably spent no more than 8 hours at the Andreola- but I had a great overall experience. The check-in was smooth and the host
gracious and sweet. After we dropped our bags, exhausted, we asked for a close, inexpensive, and delicious restaurant recommendation, which not only did he provide, but it delivered tenfold. (Look for my insider tip on that :D) The room was comfortable, clean, and stocked full of toiletries and PLENTY of alcohol ( a necessity for a quick night in a hotel before an overseas flight, in my opinion) - my ONLY mild gripe being the shower 'situation'. Having traveled to Italy before, I have come to expect a few mild issues with the state of their showers- in short, they are built for tinier humans than I. I am just shy of 6 feet tall and when I took one look at the shower there, I didn't even bother. It barely topped my chest.
Overall impression, great value hotel a stone's throw away from the Centrale train station. Whether you are just in for a night or in Milan for a week, it is a great location without a doubt. Great service as well- when the host learnt of our early departure time and realized we would miss the complimentary breakfast, he offered to bring us up a plate of pastries/juices- on the house. A fantastic way to depart Milan.

Short walk from hotel
Mamma Rosa restaurant was recommended to us by the host of the Andreola hotel- and it did not disappoint. Delicious food with 5- star service, we felt like kings sitting inside this cozy little place. It was inexpensive but fantastic, and the staff went above and beyond. Highly recommended.

Very nice hotel
We only spent one night at the hotel, while traveling from Paris to Venice. It was the nicest hotel we stayed in, even by American standards. The room was wonderful, beautifully decorated, with a huge bathroom, tub, and shower(separate). We
will definitely stay there our next time in Milan. It is an easy walk, with luggage from the central train station, only a couple of minutes. The rooms must be soundproof, because we could not hear a sound from anywhere. If only all the hotels in this price range were this nice!
