Very nice
Neighborhood a little sketchy (had to step over a man sleeping on the sidewalk by the metro) but very nice hotel. It had just been remodeled and the rooms/hallway/elevator were all very small but new and modern. Can't say enough good things about the staff. All very nice and helpful (even if the front desk man gave me a hard time-jokingly- about my French) Breakfast buffet was a good value, had linens on the table and the staff brought the coffee/tea to your table. Easy walking to Metro and Gare de l'Est train station and sites.

Handy location
Very good room, newly renovated. Hotel restaurant closed for renovation, but plenty of places to eat in the area. Not the best part of town but seemed safe and the metro is only 2 minutes away from the hotel.

I had a good time but here are some things to take into account: -As the hotel was under construction (and we weren't aware about this), the lift was not working and it was not possible to take breakfast at the hotel. -One of the managers of the hotel didn't speak english

Nice Place
A little too far from the "tourist attractions" if you are on foot. The front desk staff was very nice and knowledgeable. Clean room, although there was only a skylight that was at a 45 degree angle between the wall and ceiling, it was a bit odd. Other than that the room was fine, comfortable bed etc. The cleaning staff came in to clean whether or not we had the "do not disturb" sign up or not. Internet was free but incredibly slow (worse than 56k). Pretty great for the price.

Passing through Paris
Basic reliable choice
We had an unexpected 4-day delay in Paris, and so wanted a quick reliable booking in a central location. We chose this hotel from the airport internet station as a well-priced Best Western in a good location - walkable from Gare du Nord where the train from the airport stops, and also to Les Halles, Place de la Republique. The closest metro stop is Chateau d'Eau, 1.5 blocks away. The immediate neighborhood is a bit grungy. The hotel itself is basic and almost cramped, but you can get worse. Decent toiletries, and free coffee service (delivered to the room!) in the morning. Pleasant service at the front desk. With more time for research I would have stayed elsewhere, but I was happy with the choice.

Short walk from hotel
An oddity in the neighborhood, Brasserie 'Julien' is around the corner on Rue St Denis. A truly beautiful Art Nouveau relic. The food (~25E menu) is not up to the best, but the atmosphere makes up for it.

Location is difficult if yoy do not know the area. Helpful reception staff, good clean room,clean linen. The room size is reasonable. Breakfast was EXTRA cost -Expensive at Euro 13.00 per head - NOT GOOD VALUE.

Rooms are Clean - clean bathroom
Rooms are Clean - clean bathroom and clean linen. Receptionist is helpful. Breakfast not included EXPENSIVE at Euro 13.00 per head - not good value. Location of hotel is difficilt to find and communication by third parties of the route direction caused problems.

Very clean. Excellent breakfast.

L'hôtel est en plein travaux
Des travaux, beaucoup de travaux, cela laisse des traces, et là, il y en a beaucoup. Alors, cela gâche beaucoup de choses dans cet hôtel par ailleurs relativement agréable. Paris sous les toits !!
