Again this is a comparison with
Again this is a comparison with the Sheraton because we only stay there and there is no Sheraton in Aswan. We think for the price you pay it is worth it. Dr Clarence

Hotel Isis in Aswan
I was really, really pleasantly surprised by this hotel considering its cost. The room itself was quite basic, as I expected, but I was pleased to find it wasn't so much a "room" as a little bungalow-type accomodation within a surrounding of beautiful gardens right on the Nile. Very nice atmosphere! The only slight disappointment was that the free wi-fi in the lobby was not working when I was there; the hotel staff thought it was probably a problem with their router.

Fabulous budget hotel, but beware the restaurant next door. I wandered to the Salah el Din restaurant, which was quite close to the hotel and looked appealing because you can sit right on the Nile next to some parked boats. I do NOT recommend this restaurant. The food was bloody awful (and I'm not picky) and, worse, the waiter turned out to double as a tout who then proceeded to harass me throughout my entire meal to take a boat ride when I was done. Of course, I was sort of stuck there until he brought the check, and his pestering sort of ruined the relaxed atmosphere I had hoped for.

Unfortunate choice
Filthy room, not sure sheets were washed, bathroom in disrepair, outside door that would not lock, no a/c (noisy motor was running, but completly ineffective), lack-a-daisical staff, horrible noise level (loud street party all night long, complete with celebratory sirens and music), very uncomfortable beds, internet room a joke, vendors hustling on property. We arrived too late to leave - and left at 4 am for convoy to AbuSimbel. At least a late dinner had great food and view. I truly think the staff thinks they are providing a top notch experience, they just have no idea.

Great staff, great location
I stayed five days and found the hotel to be excellent. The room I had was 5m from the Nile, had a huge picture window, large bedroom and large bathroom, all very clean. Also, I couldn't hear the traffic, which is a bit close.... The staff, including security, were always smiling, joking and so pleasant. The location was excellent. Handy for Fellucas, restaurants along the Nile, and the souk started just over the road. I'm used to Arabic countries so always have a chat with any hustlers, who are pleasant if you're pleasant to them. Nothing to do with the hotel but Aswan High Dam was a big let-down as you couldn't go on the dam so saw nothing. But I had a great two hours round Elephantine Island on a Felucca for sixty Epounds plus tip. All in all a great hotel.

If you want a typical Egyptian restaurant that's cheap, go straight over the road up into the souk. Immediately before you come to the steps turn right and first left into a little alleyway. The restaurant is obvious facing you. You get free soup and they bring everything at once (normal). If you're unhappy about the size of your meat portion return it, they will gladly exchange it.

Nice Lobby, room could be updated
We picked this as a cheap hotel to crash in for one night in Aswan. We were glad it was only one night once we got to the room. It was right on the Nile, there were lots of flying insects in the room, and quite a few mosquitoes. There were smashed bugs already on the walls that had not been removed from some time previously. The room was relatively clean, but not overly clean. For the price paid, it was not horrible, but we would not have ranked this a 4 star hotel.

Wonderful for the price. Pleasant, helpful staff, fabulous breakfast buffet and excellent location on the Nile helped make our 4 day stay in this extraordinary area of Egypt feel safe and welcoming.

Isis
The hotel was beautiful, right on the nile river. From the train station take a left on the nile river and its about a 10min walk on the right side. The rooms were so nice and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. They booked us a trip to Abu Simbel and provided breakfast. The pool was also very nice. We will definitely be staying here again. The location is also perfect as it's beside banks, McDonalds, tourist shops, etc.
