Never Again

Poor Service. Rooms were from 1970. Bed was extremely uncomfortable. Both buffets were awful. The 3 restaurants were ok, but if you didn't get there at exactly 6:30 when they opened you didn't get in and they didn't take reservations. Requested adjoining rooms and were placed no where near each other. Staff was extremely unhelpful and not accommodating. It was like being stuck at a horrible sleep away camp!

Nightmare!!!

This hotel is located in the COMBAT ZONE! the power was constantly going out, at the hotel only, and they made no attempt to fix the problem. they offered nothing to make up for the power going out on a regular basis, and I got very sick from the all inclusive food and drinks and had to leave 3 days early to seek medical attention and they would not refund my money for the days i didnt stay there. absolutly the worst vacation ever!!!

Terrible

service was horrible, towels and bed sheets were never changed in the whole week we were there; only the room's floor was cleaned daily. At the buffet me and my family had to get up the table to get our silverware and napkins, and also beg for our drinks. All of us got sick from the food. It was the worst resort experience we've ever had. We will NEVER go back to that place.

Beware!!

The Oasis hotel is in desperate need of an overhaul. The hotel looks nice but as far as its service, it is worse than a motel. We had paid for a ocean view and our first room was on level 0 which meant the first thing you see when you walk out the sliding glass door is the swimming pool with people and palm trees and then a very small view after that of the ocean. In addition, the shower was broken. When we asked for another room, we were told we had to wait until the next day after 3pm to get another room. We waited until the next day and we were given a nice ocean view with a working shower BUT we had 2 double beds instead of the king size bed for my husband and me. We had no towels and I called for towels and was told they would bring some up. I asked my husband to answer the door while I took a shower but the bath towels did not come until 1 1/2 hr later. I had instead used a beach towel to dry myself. The food is acceptable but beware when going to the "buffet". You would need to pass by several peddlers before you can get to the buffet. Also when going to the other restaurants in the hotel, you will be bombarded by men from "vacation club" trying to sell you something. My daughter was given a room across from the hotel but part of the hotel and it was infested with roaches. She complained about it and was given a room in the hotel that was better but also not in the best condition. For some reason, the hotel keeps their lighting very low in the night so it is always very dark outside your room. Our son had his destination wedding at the Oasis Hamaca hotel. The ceremony was held at the gazebo and it looked very nice but the hall where the reception was held was not as nice. The ceiling was stained and falling apart. It looked acceptable once "we" decorated the hall. The food for the reception catered by the Pelicano restaurant was very good. The couple had purchased a "wedding" package but it lacked in service and details. For example, a wedding planner for the day of, would have made things run more smoothly but was not part of the package. The DJ just played music but would not introduce the bridal party as they came in nor said anything at all-for example "now the bride and her father will dance" or "the groom and his mother will now dance", or "the couple will dance". The so called package did not even have assigned seats for the tables. Basically we had to take care of all these details and have one of the family make introductions and so forth. My daughter in law, was crying the Thursday before the wedding because the "banquet" office said they did not receive a $2000 deposit she had sent a month ago. She asked if she can call her bank so that they can fax or email the proof BUT they do not have phone service outside of the Dominican Republic. The best man was able to contact one of his coworker in the USA to drive to his home and get the paperwork at the home to prove the deposit was paid and fax the info to the banquet office. By the way, the banquet office "miraculously" found the deposit papers after we had faxed the info to them. Last but certainly not least, the package also included a "honeymoon" suite but the couple spent their first night at the hotel in a room with 2 double beds instead of the "honeymoon" suite they were to have. This was not corrected until the next day. Things to think about. Service, service and once again service. Secondly, move the peddlers away from the hotel and anyone trying to sell you a "vacation club" should stay in their office. Cleanliness and details also needs to be addressed. For example, a newlywed couple should not have to go through the frustration of getting their honeymoon suite when they should. When rooms are assigned, consider what we paid for, is it a couple (king size bed), a family (2 double beds)? Make sure everything is functioning-a/c, showers. Make sure the essentials such as towels and toilet paper are provided. ...

Bad hotel to stay at...

Upon arrival my reservation according to the Hotel staff was never made, even though I provided them with the reservation number [...] had e-mailed me with. After waiting for 2 hours they were able to contact [...] and finally allowed me to check in. Rooms are in very poor condition. Would never stay there ever again. Not worth the 'All inclusive' hotel.

Disappointment

On our mother's 90th birthday, 25 family members and friends stayed at the Hamaca Hotel; occupying even their presidential suite. The experience was horrendous, to say the least. There was never any water to shower with and at one time it took 1.2 hrs to obtain towers; not by delivery of these items but by personally going to the Front Desk to demand service. But the most abhorrent situation of all is the constant catering of the Hamaca Hotel to the solicitation of prostitutes. So don't be surprise to seat next to an ill reputed woman while your family is eating their meals, or, for your loved ones to be confused and solicited by male hotel guests as if thy are ladies of the night. Also, if you book your stay at the Hamaca, please take light bulbs, and expect damaged or non working phones in your room The only highlight at the Hamaca are the well intentioned staff like [...], the buffet supervisor and [...] at the beach bar and Milton and [...] at the Front Desk. These are good, hard working, conscientious staff with a sense of responsibility even under the most dire of situations. None of our family and friends will ever return to the Hamaca Hotel.
