Unbeatable value

This hotel is outstanding for the price! The Beach access is close and convenient. The pool is very nice with swim up bar. The rooms are huge with balcony, living room and enormous bed. The buffets and restaurants were surprisingly delicious, no complaints. Definitely go see the free shows at night in the lobby, they are well done. I recommend bringing plenty of singles to tip (but don't get crazy, tip your drink/food/drivers and whoever else you feel). Don't expect too much as far as amenities/activities, the good ones are only free at a weird time on an off day. All in all, perfect for a beach/sun getaway at a reasonable price!!

Make sure to call in your restaurant reservations well ahead of time (morning time and day before). They fill up quick! You can also do it through lobby computer under your room number (much easier).

Great time

My boyfriend and I came to this resort and were blown away. I had read some of the reviews before booking it and I would have to disagree with a lot of the negative reviews. The hotel is big, beautiful and clean. The staff was friendly. The food and the entertainment was good. They definitely cater to Americans and Canadians as almost all of the staff spoke clear english. We went horseback riding, snorkeling and deep sea fishing all for a great price( always talk them down ) there are neat shops on the beach next to the resort. If you do not want kids have your room on the caribe side.

Do not pay for a massage. If you can sit through a 90 minute sales pitch( which you do not have to buy) you get a free 60 minute Swedish couples massage in their spa!

great place

the place is beatiful, my room was clean, nice decoration and great view. The only thing i can complain about is that the discotec at the hotel was always empty. also this is not the best place for singles during weekdays.. during the weekend there was a bit more movement.

Great overall!

The staff never helped my wife and I with our luggage. That kind of ticked me off. Also there of hotel staff members that earn points by getting you to go to their stupid Melia seminars. We got a free massage out of it.

Rough start, ended well

We had mixed feelings. This mostly had to do with the 90 minute "presentation" for time share/ Melia Rewards. We politely said no thank you but for 3 days flowing at the breakfast and lunch buffet were harassed to sit through this, even bribing us with massages. We ended up getting a different bracelet that ended the problem. The room was not what I expected. The website pictures were obviously only the Royal Service rooms, not the average. It was average. We were in building 14, very close to the beach, one of the buffets and pools. You are better off calling for dinner reservations. We didn't have any trouble but others using the kiosk did. Food was somewhat disappointing from my past experience elsewhere. Avoid the steak but definitely try the paella at the pool buffets. The pools were gorgeous with tropical palms and we never had a problem getting lounge chairs.Bar tenders were very nice. Tipping is not necessarily required but the workers do a good job for very little money. A little extra goes a long way. This is a large resort. If you have physical limitations it may be a little too much. The beach was nearly perfect. Very small waves, plenty of chairs, very little seaweed washed up. Only thing we missed was a bar on the beach but its not a terribly long walk to get to one. Bring bug spray, plenty of sunscreen and a large thermos of some sort to save trips to the bar. We loved the location but will try a different resort next time.

If you get a sparkly silver bracelet, you will be harassed for time share. If you rather not be bothered get, a blue one.

Great value with lots of variety

Overall this was a great vacation and very nice resort. This was our second trip to Punta Cana. We stayed at a different resort last time and this one was very comparable. We choose this resort because of all the different restaurants choices (french, Italian, Mexican, Dominican, etc). We ate a different restaurant every night. The food was good and meet our expectationas at each of the restaurants. Breakfast buffet was good but lunch buffet was a little disappointing. The 2 restaurants by the beach did not offer very much variety for lunch and not very fresh. We chose to eat at the main buffet dining near lobby for the rest of the week for lunch because it offered more selections and the food was fresher. My husband played golf at the nearby golf course and was impressed with the quality of the course. Mostly we relaxed around the pools all day, which were very large and accommadating. The resort never felt overcrowded. It is quiet large and a little spread out but there are "trains" and golf carts to offer you rides if you didn't feel like walking. We chose to have a room closer to the pool and beach and then walk a little further at night to get to restaurants and bars. The room was spacious and clean. One the 3rd day we had a problem with the cable on our So if you encouter a problem, just speak up and they will try to resolve it for you. There was shows each night and some were quiet enjoyable. The had live Latin music in the lobby bar with dancing every night as well. I would recommend this resort for anyone looking for a relaxing time and a great value.

Should not be a 4 Star Hotel

Just got back from our trip and there are a few positives the weather can't be beat and the location in proximity from the airport was great. The hotel itself is decent but starting to show wear which I imagine its tough not to with the weather. If we had not done Royal Service I would have been even more upset. My boyfriend got severe food poisoning and was sick for over 30 hours straight, the drinks were EXTREMELY watered down(who can have 10 plus drinks and not feel a thing), the food was subpar(which is expected in an all inclusive) the staff was okay a couple people were nice but there is a big language barrier so do not expect any of them to know what your saying. As for Royal Service we paid a little bit extra and were able to get a nicer room and access to the Gabi which was extremely worth it, the only thing is we saw everyone else get a butler and we never got one which was fine because they make your dinner reservations and we only got to go a few nights because of the food poisoning. Overall the rating on this hotel should be lowered to under 4 stars
