Very Comfortable Honeymoon

My husband and I went there on our honeymoon. Overall we had a very comfortable stay. If you are looking for the basics, a beautiful location, then this is where you want to go. The food is nothing to write home about. They have multiple restaurants, Japanese, barbecue, Italian, Mediterranean, etc. But non of them are authentic. They are all booked up immediately when you get there, don't bother. Stick to the buffets near the lobby or on the beach. That's where you're going to get the best food anyways. We learned that very fast. No top shelf liquor. I'm not a fan of sweet drinks, but I drank my weight in pina coladas that week, which I was happy with. You just have to have your mind prepared for what you're getting into. Simple, maybe different kinds of food you might not be used to. However, hamburgers and hot dogs and things like that. The only kind of beer you're every going to see is Presidente Light. Not my favorite, but many people seemed to love it. We stayed in the Bavaro which is closer to the lobby, and it wasn't bad as far as being a little ways from the beach. We just would catch the little carts that were always running down to the beach or sometimes walk. The scenery by the ocean is spectacular. You do get a lot of people trying to sale you things and that's expected, it's a public beach. But for the most part they'll leave you alone if you tell them no. The only thing we did adventure was wise was parasailng, which was awesome and beautiful! Now, you do have to understand this is Dominican style. So you're going to go out on a little dingy boat and maybe float around a while and then get to the boat and they'll pack as many people as they can on those boats. When we came back down on the boat we kind of slammed on to it. haha. But it was still fun. Overall, is it the crème of the crop all inclusive hotel out there? No. But for the price and what we needed, it was perfect for us. We lived on the beach, soaked up the sun, expected mediocre food, but we were ok with that. We got tons of snacks, went to a local store and got liquor and enjoy music and some entertainment and night! The front desk staff, some of them were very helpful, some were not. You can expect that everywhere. Of course you'll get pushed into the whole timeshare thing, don't do it. Say you're going to show up, but don't. We certainly weren't going to waste our time together on our honeymoon doing that. The housekeeping staff was beyond nice and helpful. They also decorated our room for our honeymoon! Super sweet!

Great Adult Trip

We stayed at the Ambar which was adult only. It was great. We had other friends that brought their kids, and stayed at the Esmeralde (which is on the same property), so we got the best of both worlds, able to hang out with friends on the property then return to our adult only section. Perfect!!!! Also, the food was great from the cavier and lox, made to order omelettes to roasted pig, crab legs and all the fixings for dinner.

Good for vocation

We were upgraded to luxuary Amber area with good luck. The resort is huge and well designed. Room, food and transportation are all great. The only things I'm not satisfied is that I have to wait so long time to get the room cleaned. The Wi-Fi connection in room is not free, and I have to go to lobby to access Internet.
