Barcelo Dominican Beach - All Inclusive

Everything was excellent from the beggining the started picking us on time at the airport, then we went to the hotel and we got surprise with the room the give us it was more than what we ask for It was perfect. We really enjoy talking to the people, the hotel staff are beautiful humans that offer excellent customer service theY really take care of us, my husband is much into service and he was surprise that the service was above many other hotels we have been before. The buffet food was good, but we really like the Espanola and the Wasabi restaurant once again excellent customer service. Only one thing dont go to the market close to the hotel they will try to sell you anything. We have no complains the hotel is small compare to other hotels, but the customer service, the food, and the beautiful beach makes up everything else. WE LOVE IT. AND WE WILL BE GOING AGAIN SOOOON. The hotel's staff members were all very friendly but the hotel rooms were small and not very clean. There was a water leak in my room which caused big dissatisfaction.

It's a nice place and great location for a family vacation

at first we were put in a dump of a room and were swatting mosquitos for an hour. I'm not even kidding. Within that hour we got bit 3 times. AT first they said they did not have another room but after complaining again because the mosquitos wouldnt go away they put us in a new spankin' room. After that we had a lot of fun. Good food and booze. Lots of stuff to do...Lots lots lots!!! Many many many bars!!!

Overall, the vacation was great. The hotel grounds, beach and ocean are absolutely beautiful. They could use some shade huts on the beach. There are beautiful pine trees on the beach but they don't offer enough shade. The rooms were cleaned very late in the afternoon and on one occasion there were no towels left and it took forever to get some delivered to our room. The nightly entertainment was enjoyable. The bartenders didn't seem to be able to duplicate a drink. You couldn't get two good drinks that tasted the same.

This was our first "all inclusive" vacation. The resort was very nice. Clean room, friendly staff and plenty of food. You won't go hungry although the quality is average. All the restaurants were about the same as the buffet. Freshly squeezed juices great at breakfast. Wasabi was very good, enjoyed it the most. Buffet was always good. Husband and daughter signed up for scuba divings although husand had to cancel due to illness, got money back with a doctors statement. Scuba diving was great. All day trip to Catalina Island was "so so". Beach very rocky, biting flies and a two hour bus ride to get to the boat, then 20 minutes to the island. Would not do that excursion. Overall, great vacation, would definetly go back.

it's cheap, so you get cheap service etc. most people seem to have forgotten to tip extra, so the service is mediocre until you start tipping extra.. a dollar can go a long way. the rooms def need some upgrading, but we didn't spend more than several hrs a night in the actual room, so who cares? the service was bad until they realized we were willing to tip them extra, then our drinks came faster, with more alcohol, then it was good. the food is nothing amazing, but its good. the best is the hibachi style restaurant. if youre looking for a cheap all inclusive to just have drinks, lay out, and be by the ocean with good friend and family, its awesome. if youre looking for top of the line service and elegance then don't be cheap in booking your hotel, meaning don't aim for high standards going with the cheapest hotel.

The staff at Barcelo was great; friendly and willing to work with you. Our room was a little disappointing; the walls needed painting, the bed covers could have used an update, and the shower didn't work great. Having said that, my friend and I were looking for an affordable room so we could spend more on excursions, so I believe you get what you pay for. If we had sprung for a junior suite we wouldn't have had to deal with these things. But, there were no bugs and the room was clean. All in all, satisfied.

This was our first trip out of the USA for Sun, Sand, and Relaxation. Naturally we were impressed by the natural landscape of the Resort. We enjoyed the beach and the water - Never seen beach water where you can actually see your feet on the ocean bottom. What did NOT impress us was the overall service. We went to the mexican restaraunt at the resort and it took almost 30 minutes to get a Coke and a Glass of Wine. The food was less than desirable. The other thing that was a total turn off was "local kids" always begging for money and/or food. We got so tired of the begging that we left the beach and went to the pool. One evening when we were returning to our room - we saw and likely startled a Barcelo employee checking doors to see if they opened (In the US this is referred to as attempted robbery). It was weird cause he did not look like he belonged there and when he noticed us - he asked us if we wanted a beer?? Very strange!!! For our first time it was okay, but would not return to this Resort.
