Blue Bay Villas Doradas Adults Only Resort -All Inclusive

I checked in a day late and I was put in a third floor room. Noone helped me take my bags up or anything. I had to make two trips for my bags. In my room there were little red ants everywhere(on dresser, bathroom sink). I went to the front desk and told them and they said they would send someone there in a few minutes, noone never came. I ended up only staying there 1 day out of 9 days i was suppose to be there. I rented a smaller hotel with less amenaties and their service and cleanliness much better and they were more accomidating; especially after I told them the story about my dreadful night at blue bay villas. They even gave me one day free.

The lights went off and the hotel was powered by generator and we did not have air conditioning in the afternoon and temperature was in the 80s. Terrible expereince, I have had better days at this hotel. management was too slow to respond to an emergency. I don't know if I will stay there again

My experience at Blue Bay was excellent. This was my 2nd time staying there, and I will return. My wife lives in Puerto Plata, so I travel there frequently. The location in Playa Dorada is great. You are a 5 minute walk from a shopping plaza, and water sports originate from there. Unfortunately, during my most recent trip there from March 28 - April 3, parasailing was not available, which was a disappointment. The jet skiing was lots of fun. The entire staff at Blue Bay is great. When we had an issue, they quickly responded and resolved it. One wish . . . I wish more towels were initially provided in the room when arriving. For my wife and I, there was only 1 small hand towel and 1 large bath towel. I always try to tip the maid at the beginning when I see her, so as to ensure great service. This policy worked again. I found all of the staff to be friendly and attentive. The room was clean and very comfortable. The grounds of the resort are well maintained and aesthetically very pleasing to the eyes. The food is very good at Blue Bay. I am on a low cholesterol diet, so I do not eat many of the foods. But, judging from my wife's reaction, the food is delicious. I do wish there was more of a salad selection at the buffet restaurant. I ate dinner at both the Grill and Asian restaurants, and both are great for both atmosphere and quality of food. The service is also great there. I did not have a chance to eat at the seafood restaurant. My biggest complaint is the constant appearance of people selling vacation timeshares on the resort grounds. There is obviously an agreement between the management of the resort to allow these people to relentlessly approach the guests of the resort. They are a bit of a pain, but I know how to handle them. In the past, I usually stayed at the Iberostar resort. I would rate Iberostar a notch higher, but the cost is significantly higher at Iberostar. Blue Bay is a great buy for the buck, and it is a really nice resort.

The drinks were great- we had a fun time. Average age was not 20's so if you are looking for quite time it might suit for you.

I don't know where to start. The food, staff, hospitality, location, pricing. The buffet and snack bars are amazing and so clean and organized. They have food and drinks 24/7. The 3 private restaurant are 5 star restaurant. The staff was excellent. They make you feel like you right at home. Waiter know your name as well as the bartender. And the entertainer staff are out of this world. Teddy Bear, George, Coca Cola, Mayo, Commando, James Bond, n Yari. They will not let you stop laughing. They also have a shuttle bus from the hotel to the disco. All inclusive.... Me and my wife just got back and we are planning the next trip!!!

If you want to be disappointed stay here. The staff was horrible. The food and drinks were horrible. No orange juice, liquor was bottom shelf water down tasted like gasoline. If you want bedding with stains and cigarette burns this is for you. The room was dirty, run down, and lacking. I will never go back here ever. I have extensive travel experience this is my 5th time to the DR and this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. We had to fight for upgrade, hotel staff was not interested in what we wanted. Do not stay here book somewhere else or stay home.

This hotel was a great, affordable getaway. Since I've gotten back, I've been telling everyone that while it wasn't the best place I've ever stayed, the room was clean and the price was right. All-inclusive is definitely the way to go (not that you have a choice in the Dominican). The room was clean, though the bed was a bit uncomfortable. The resort itself was gorgeous! The beach and pool were beautiful...though the beach was crowded with locals selling their wares. The food was great, too. We only got two nights in the restaurant, which we didn't realize. But the buffet was wonderful. Good quality and it changed every night so we didn't get sick of it.

The hotel was nothing like we expected. The resort shows pictures of rooms with jacuzzis which are not offered to regular travelers (only to share holders). The experience was dissapointing as we expected better service for our "Superior Deluxe" package . It was our first time in Blue bay and our second time in Puerto Plata. But definitely not a better experience than our first. The staff was not as amicable as expected. The restaurants are completely booked for reservations for the the present day till the next, so my advise would be to make reservations the moment you arrive for all 3 restaurants on the property. If you have already booked your trip use my advise and try and enjoy yourselves, but if you are just browsing stay away form this resort. Better yet, stay away from Puerto Plata and go on to "La Romana", "Punta Cana" or "Babaros" it's a bit more in price but well worth it, better beaches and better service. We knew this wasn't a 5 star resort, but tried it anyway. There were no hand towels or washclothes in the rooms. Had to go to the front desk 3 times to get them. Had to ask for water (you are not supposed to drink the water from the tap). Phones in the rooms do not work. Had difficulties with the safe. No dresser in the room. Hard to communicate since we didn't know Spanish. The intertainment was good.

the staff and property were very comfortable and pleasant. The rooms could use some more warmth and cleanliness. The staff was very friendly, and the food was very good. I wish there were some sort of gift shop on the premises.
