Modern yet historic hotel in the heart of the Danish capital
Avenue Hotel is sandwiched between chic Frederiksberg and lively Norrebroin the vibrant capital. The building that houses Avenue has been used as a hotel since 1939. The same family has owned it since 1972, when the current owner's grandfather acquired it and named it the Avenue Hotel. The current proprietor took over in 2004, completely renovating and refurbishing the hotel to bring it into the 21st century. The hotel retains a friendly, relaxed atmosphere while offering modern amenities. The hotel also has an on-site music venue, lounge, and a shop open 'round the clock.
Highlights

  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Historic building with a modern twist
  • 24/7 shop
  • Bicycle rental

Rooms

Avenue Hotel has 68 generous rooms, ranging from singles to family rooms and A+ rooms. All accommodations feature private bathroom, hairdryer, cable television, refrigerator, and hypoallergenic bedding. A+ rooms are more spacious, offer extra comfort, and have a DVD player and cold drinks in the refrigerator. In-room furnishings include plaids from Missoni, lamps from Bestlite and accessories from Day Home Collection.

Features
Avenue Hotel is ideally located for all visitors, close to all major attractions and well connected by public transport. Guests can rent a bicycle from the hotel to get around the traditional Copenhagen way. The Avenue prides itself on being family-friendly, with family rooms and play facilities, such as a sand pit.

The hotel's on-site facilities add to its unique character. The Yellow Lounge, which originally was introduced to present classical music to new audiences in a contemporary setting, now has two resident DJs and hosts big names such as Sting. The hotel patio entices guests to enjoy breakfast there in the summer. Visitors can also chill with a glass of warm, mulled wine in the winter in front of the fireplace at the lounge. Guests taken by the Avenue's style can buy original pieces as well as items influenced by the hotel in the on-site shop.

The hotel was awarded "Best Small Hotel in Denmark 2011" by International Hotel Awards in association with Bloomberg Television in January 2012.

Sleeps family of four comfortably

Look no further... The only hotel who gave us chilled glass bottle cokes or alcohol complementary in our room fridge... Kids said best hotel ever! We thought it beautiful, full of light. Great breakfast bread and jam. Free parking. Not much a walk to city center, just past old stove store, Danish kitchen showroom, and a square lake full of swans.

Great hotel, but not for tourists unless...

The hotel was highly rated - and worth it. Staff all spoke English (very helpful), and the room was large and had great character (a tower room with a round couch in the tower to overlook the street). Free beer in the fridge. However, we were on foot, and the taxi ride wasn't cheap (though I knew this going in). The walk to most of what we wanted to see in the city was long, and being that we were only there for two days, I would rather have spent that time visiting, rather than walking. It was doable, but longer than I would have liked. Plenty of food nearby, including a nice pizza place right next door. Great continental breakfast.

Perfect Downtown location

First and foremost the staff is excellent, always trying to meet and exceed our needs. The buffet breakfast was absolutely the best we had in our complete 15 day tour of Europe. The room was clean, bright and met our needs and comfort. We were on the street side of the hotel which could get a little noisy with the windows open at times. Since there is no air conditioning, it was nice to have a window open to refresh room air. Really did not need the air conditioning however. The twin beds & pillows were comfortable(all hotels seem to have Twin beds). Only had a shower stall in bath and was small. The bathroom itself was roomy enough to meet our needs. I loved the atmosphere of this European style hotel. They did not try to Americanize it. Reasonable walking distance to Center of the City, train station, metro, buses, Tivoli, shopping, museums, etc. No dinner or lunch at hotel, but dining within 1-2 blocks of hotel. I would stay at the Avenue Hotel again if I returned to Copenhagen in the future.

Very friendly hotel

Just out of the centre(15min walk), so for us a perfect location. Plenty of bars close by, where the locals are so friendly. Very good continental breakfast, lovely comfy beds and extremely pleasant and helpful staff. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Great hotel for short break

Slightly outside of city-centre, but close to Forum Metro ( less than 30 mins to airport) and buses, we were happy with location. Our room was large, light and comfortable, we liked the shower only, rather than bath with shower All staff that we met were very helpful and polite Just right for a short break if u do not need all of the 5* add-ons

Scarpetta Restaurant, round the corner opposite the 7-11 store. An Italian Tapas, delicious and reasonably priced. Staff very helpful.

a decent hotel not too far from city center

we generally like this hotel. It is about 10 minutes walk to the closest metro station and few eating options near by. The breakfast is good and good selections. The city center is one 1-3 stops by metro and we did all our sightseeing in the city center area. reception staff are friendly
