Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

In about 8 blocks from Presidente Hotel there is a restaurant called "La Casona tipica" across the " La Merced church" very authentic Meals, great prices and great service. Don't fall for "el patio" restaurant across from the Hotel, it is very expensive for San Jose.

Very Disapointed

After booking my room with my girlfriend from Costa Rica the Hotel would not let her check in because she arrived 3 hours after me and was not dressed appropiate, accouding to them. We were told this after I had already unpacked and after her 4 hour bus ride and my 6 hour flight. I was forced repack everything and move to a different hotel. I was also informed that the Presedente was going to charge me for a whole day even though I was only there for 3 hours. The hotel was also under construction which I was not told about either. Horrible experience.

Nice Place and Great Price

It's a very nice hotel considering it was in the middle of the busy city of San Jose. It was walking distance to a lot of attractions and stores. Staff was very helpful and polite. My husband and I felt very safe and would stay there again. The hotel also gave us an upgrade to a nicer room.

Depends. On Visitor

this hotel is very friendly and professional. Went with a bunch of college buds and didn't know what to expect. This hotel is geared towards a family or couple experience. A group of guys would prefer a different hotel. Location is great. Casino below average since no tables were available.

A Bit of Luxury in San Jose

We checked in early with no problem. We were told we were upgraded for free, the room was incredible. Lots of space. The bathroom was one of the best hotel bathrooms I've ever seen. They let us come back and park our car after we checked out. The location was awesome, right on the central avenue. The restaurant had good, cheap food. Breakfast was nice too. The bar wasn't great but there's other options nearby.

There is a big store on the central avenue 3/4 blocks west called Universal (good place to shop). Head through Universal and out the back door to a bar across the street where the locals gather. Cheap beer and authentic food. I recommend the Chifrijo with an ice cold pilsen.

Centrally located

I chose the hotel because it was centrally located and we could see and do a lot of things in the afternoon we were in San Jose. They are renovating the lobby area and when they are done it will be a perfect downtown location, on the corner, having a coffee or a meal watching people walk by (it is in a pedestrian zone). Right now they have the restaurant and bar opposite the reception area and it does quite well. What is really great is that they have airport transportation which is only 25US Dollars.

Great location in the middle of San Juan

Just one block from the plaza de cultural and all the local sites. Good bar and restaurant across the street and gringo fast food joints. Gave us a free upgrade with the outdoor jacuzzi.

Friendly

Very friendly and service oriented staff. Very nice accomodations; however somehow noisy due to its location along the main pedestrian only avenue. Great location in the heart of San Jose

An affordable nice place to stay

Great staff, good breakfast buffet, confortable and relaxing ambiance. Too bad the restaurant was closed due to remodeling during our stay. Close to all the downtown shops, museums. Comfy temps while we were there (Mid Oct).
