This is a privileged hotel since it is historical and cultural heritage of humanity.
Hotel Caribe with three buildings and 363 rooms is considered one of the most traditional Hotel in the city, with an area of 35,000 m2 of exotic tropical trees and gardens, 5,000 being devoted to ample beaches and 30,000 to Hotel facilities.

Hotel Caribe offers beach access (something not available at the hotels in old town), a clean pool, good guest services, and even a small "zoo" for a fraction of the price of hotels in Old Town. Located about three kilometers from the old town -- a safe, if not so pretty walk -- the hotel is an old relic around quickly rising five star resorts like the hilton and hampton hotels in the Bocagrande area. A cab to old town will cost you about $6, so even with that price built in, it's a great deal. A word of caution, however. The rooms are a bit unremarkable, so don't expect the sort of five star comfort you might expect from a five star rated hotel in the U.S. Also, there are THREE buildings that make the resort, two are newer, and then the original building. I was first placed in a new building, and asked to be changed to the old with no issue.

Interesting Indulgence in Colombian Society
The Hotel Caribe was great, it's resort-style complex included most of the amenities you need on a vacation or visit to Cartagena, if you can get by with a very minimalistic fitness area. A short hop across the street gets you to the beach where you can look forward to being endlessly haggled to give up your money for this, that and the other. Overall a great experience, would go back without hesitation.

Weekend trip
The Hotel staff are very attentive and diligent. The pool is first class and the rooms on the ocean side offer a nice view. The WiFi connection needs improvement and the location isn't exactly walking distance to the old city. Overall it was a good deal.

Nice hotel and I would recomend it
The hotel was clean and room had good AC a plus because it was hot there. The pool was big and the staff was friendly and helpfull. I had one problem with the hotel and should have called to ask before my arrival and booking My trip was in order to meet a friend I knew in the city and The hotel charges to bring guests 95.00 I find it rediculous and for this reason will not go back. My room had two beds and I paid for it why then should I pay extra for a second person the room was double ocupancy The Caribe is nice but lost a customer.My next vist will be to a different Hotel sad because I really liked the hotel !

Fantastic resort place.
Quite comfortable Hotel. Swimming pool area quite confortable. I would strongly recommend this Hotel for somebody visiting Cartagena. Outside of the Hotel, like going to ciudad vieja or going to Rosario or Baru Island, may be a problem with the harrasment on the vendors.

Hilton vs hotel caribe
For 80.00 more a night at the hilton, we had amazing service. There was a five star gym, excellent cuisine, and most of all, a 'customers always right' attitude. The Caribe front desk staff acted more like road side sales people and even tricked us into paying more for their reservation mistakes! The gym resembles a jailhouse gym with no air conditioning, poor lighting, dirty equipment, and broken machines. The restaurant food was just ok, and the breakfast was really disappointing. The rooms are very clean, the room service is trustworthy...i left my wallet and ipod one day by accident and the maid put it on my pillow with a now reminding me to keep it in the safe. The managers aren't friendly, the security people treated ourut

Honeymoon in Cartagena
We didn't do a typical honeymoon suite and all inclusive typical honeymoon type things for budget purposes but for what we paid for and what we expected our stay was excellent. Very professional staff, great room service and cleanliness, great location- everyone in Cartagena knows what the Hotel Caribe is, beautiful pool and great restaurants.

Olímpica, the neighborhood grocery store is very inexpensive and has great items to eat for breakfast or dinner after a lunch out- which are generally pretty big. The hotel provides mini refrigerators that can store your grocery purchases.

Overall, the place is decent, nothing to brag about and say WOW what a place. It's your standard hotel and it provides the bed and the shower you need while on vacation. Besides, who wants to go on vacation and stay the entire time in a hotel room? The restaurants were ok, but didn't have enough variety on the menus. The staff was pleasant and polite. It is located in a decent area where there are a lot more hotels. Easy access to most things to do in the city. For the location I can see the price, for the brand and value a bit expensive, but overall a decent place to stay if you do not want to spend lots of money and/or stay on a dump either.
