Improving, but not there yet.

Westin has recently been updating the Resort, fresh paint, revised décor, and other cosmetic improvements. There are still rough edges: 1 of 2 elevators was out of service for the entire week; a roof-mounted air handler above our room was so noisy that my wife had to wear ear plugs; and the shower drained so slowly that you’d end up with water around your ankles. The Resort's location is the best, right on 7 mile beach, within walking distance of many restaurants, and a nearby reef (great for snorkeling). The staff is very friendly, as are most of the Grand Cayman locals. I rated “value” lower because, as is the norm, everything in Grand Cayman is pricey.

anniversary trip

good hotel, nothing too extravagant. we explored a couple of the other hotels while we were there, westin seemed to be one of the best. went to ritz for breakfast- overpriced. be careful for westin's hidden resort fee $35 KYD ($44# a day, not included when you book. Beach staff seemed very friendly, everyone else was just okay. The beach area seemed much better than other hotels. Ritz was too packed with chairs, other hotels had no/little outdoor staff, westin's beach scene was great. The pool was okay, nothing great. room was very musty- made our clothes smell. AC was on most of the time and smell still existed. very convenient location- far enough from Georgetown that you didn't get all of the cruise boat traffic, but close enough that you can get there with $11 taxi ride or $5 bus ride #for 2ppl). We plan to go back with kids next time- looking to spend a little less, not sure if the Marriott is a better deal.

Nice relaxing Vacation

All around great experience, helpful staff, great location, and wonderful beach. Didn't appreciate the hidden $35US surprise daily resort charge on the final bill for use of chairs, towels, pool etc. When an individual chooses to pay more to stay at an established chain like the WestIn, their hotel ammenities should all be included, especially since not every person on vacation spends everyday of their vacation at their hotel. I shouldnt be paying a resort charge when I spend the entire day at Rum Point.

annual vacation

The Westin is a great hotel to stay at. The staff is very helpful. They participate in the "green" movement but my husband and I did not see evidence of any recycling being done especially with plastic bottles. Enjoyed the Sunday brunch! Would return to the Westin for a relaxing vacation again.

Cayman's a 1st

This was our first trip to the Caymans. We were very fortunate for the weather was perfect. Wonderful beach and we felt extremely safe. Maybe even to safe for we took long walks late at night. The hotel did expericence a water pressure failure tonights which we were compted the site fee of $35.00 for one night. Although very pricey, cab fares and food, I look forward to a return.

Disappointing

I attended a conference at the Westin and spent three over priced nights at their Property. The Property was well located on 7 Mile Beach, unfortunately as I was staying on the Property for business I did not partake in or use any of their amenities, though I was still forced to pay US$35 per day for an amenity fee. I found the room to be average at best, it certainly did not justify the US$500+ rate I paid per night. The room did not even have a desk, thus I had to work on a small table that was too high for the chairs. I used pillows to get myself up to height which made typing comfortable. After the conference I moved to another hotel a short distance from the Westin and used the difference in room rate to enjoy what Cayman had to offer. I am sorry that I over spent to stay at the Westin, simply because the Conference for which I attended was based there. I would not stay at the Westin again if I should ever return to Cayman.

Fun but expensive

The setting was gorgeous and the staff friendly and helpful. However there is nothing inexpensive in this experience. Laying on the beach or by the pool is free but any other type of beach activity or the prerequisite diving or snorkeling is pricey. There is no place inexpensive to eat. Even a couple of pizzas cost $85 us and a dinner for 4 at a 3 star restaurant will set you back $250 + So if you go just accept the fact you will be experiencing a first rate beach and a far lighter bank account

Recharge Batteries

Beach was the best on seven mile. Room was functional and comfortable. Fitness center is lacking. Food is not great. Many other options to eat in the area. Staff was great, friendly and efficient. Red Sail sports was terrific, used them everyday. Would stay here again. Price of room and airfare worked out great. Not the high season. Was glad we didn't stay at the Ritz, too large. This was easy access to beach and very laid back.

Fun for everyone

Great beach, nice (but expensive) food, great spa, tons of water activities. We stayed for 6 days in December and had perfect weather, greater restaurants in the area. A wonderful resort.
