Dining

Le Petit Cafe
The lobby-cafe, Europe-inspired, offers coffee, tea, espresso bar, European continental breakfast, fresh/daily croissants, chocolate bread, muffins, bread and a fully licensed bar throughout the day. While vibrant and lively in the day, the place takes on a whole different feel by evening time. Dimmed lights, candles and down tempo music set the mood, becoming a great little hang out to finish up some work, surf, lounge, mingle, munch or unwind.
Mechant Boeuf
Located in the Nelligan Hotel (sister hotel-1 min. walking distance), Mechant Boeuf Bar-Brasserie: when you're looking for a bar-brasserie with some real character and personality. Mechant Boeuf Bar-Brasserie is friendly, has a great atmosphere. And the DJ plays classic rock all night long. You'll notice the red right off, and the food gives up the chef's flair for the cosmopolitan: fish & chips, Spanish chorizo, of course there's poutine, but this one's got Migneron de Charlevoix cheese, cheesecake. But the dish everyone in town talks about and remembers is the Mechant Boeuf Burger. It's simply the best in the city.
Aix cuisine du terroir
Located in Place-D'Armes Hotel (sister hotel - 5 min. walking distance)Restaurant Aix Cuisine du Terroir, devoted to the enjoyment of local Quebec cooking, has an elaborate menu with seasonal variations. Aix proposes a gastronomic cuisine in a contemporary and elegant decor. The Chef composes a creative menu with Quebec's best and freshest produce for the subtle pleasure of every palate.
Verses Restaurant
Located in the Nelligan Hotel (sister hotel-1 min. walking distance), Verses offers its guests the finest in French contemporary cuisine. Poetry is brought to mind in the name, in the dishes served, as well as in the subtle yet romantic decor with fireplace, wine cellar and private booths.
Modavie Resto-Bar
Come enjoy a Mediterranean gastronomic experience with hints of international flavors in a warm intimate ambiance of jazz and comfort. Fresh fish, first choice cuts of meat, innovative pasta dishes and the specialty, lamb, will surely make your dinner a memorable experience. Modavie also offers its guests an impressive choice of assorted wines served by an attentive and highly knowledgeable staff. With its exposed brick and stone walls, the ceiling-high shelves of wine behind the handsomely turned-out center bar, and candle flames flickering in the breezes through the big open windows along the front and side, Modavie pleases the eye at every turn.- Frommer's - Montreal & Quebec City 12th edition, 2002.

Great location

Nice location and very friendly people. Great breakfast. Only thing I would suggest would be to spend a bit more on your towels. They were a bit cheap for such a nice place otherwise. Would definitely return.

You will feel you're a guest in their home!

The hospitality here is without peer. This is a lovely, small, very clean and comfortable hotel, in a very old building in a very old neighborhood. Delightful restaurants within walking distance, from wonderful sandwiches across the street to upscale, full-course French dining. Wonderful museums, magnificent cathedrals, marvelous art galleries - all within walking distance. The hotel offers complimentary continental breakfast with fresh O.J., superb coffee, and unforgettable baked goods. The staff is very warm and welcoming, and can find your destinations, have flowers to your room, have a taxi waiting on time. You won't need to worry! We travel a lot: this was one of our very best!

The BEST location in old Montreal

We arrived in sloshy weather to this perfectly, charming old building. The staff were outstanding - personable, knowledgeable and caring. The hotel has all modern amenities in the rooms( large comfortable bed, flat screen tv, ipod music player, multi-head shower) as with any hotel I have stayed in- from China to Japan to Europe. The staff provides excellent breakfast selections - a skilled barista, excellent pastries and fruit. Jenifer even got us last minute reservations at Garde Manger... My wife enjoyed the very thoughtful birthday red-velvet cupcake; we cannot wait until our next opportunity.
