Great location and hotel

very close to Amtrak station. $8 with taxi to get there from train station. Rooms clean, nice, roomy. Best part of it was the spa. I loved my 30 minutes massage that included use of the spa. Great way to start my vacation. Friendly staff.

Disappointing

When I booked this room, I was under the impression this was a 4 star hotel. I booked a room with two queen beds since it was for a friend and me. Got to the room and oops! One king bed. Went back down to the front desk and was switched to a room with two queen beds but had to wait about 20 minutes. Front desk staff was very friendly and gave me no problems. Got up to my room and the first thing I noticed was the smell. Couldn't tell if it was mold or if the room used to be a smoking room. The bathroom door handle was broken, the closet doors kept falling off the tracks every time you moved them, the only toiletries provided were a mismatched shampoo and lotion (no conditioner), both of which looked like they had previously been used, and a bar of soap. Only two bath towels were provided. On the plus side, the beds were really comfortable. The restaurant looked like it had last been redecorated circa 1992. If I went back to Montreal, I would definitely NOT stay here again.

Great Hotel

My friend and I stayed two days at the Nouvel Hotel and SPA, the staff was very nice and very helpful. The room was big and very clean, the only thing that could be changed is the number and quality of the towels, there were not enough shower towels for two people. The hotel is walking distance from everything in downtown.

Couples Overnight

Positives: The hotel staff was very nice and helpful in giving us directions and maps to where we needed to go. (I liked the one lady from the front desk so much that I surprised her with a chocolate dessert from a local restaurant that she seemed to love and one that she sent us to for dessert). The location was great. Although we drove into Canada and had our car we were able to walk to many areas and did successfully take the "metro" (Montreal's subway system), which is extremely user friendly to someone who is from out of town and who doesn't speak French. Basically everyone we met were bilingual in French and English, which was very helpful to us... Negatives: We were in room 409 and the second we got off the elevator the floor smelled funny and so did our room; can't put my finger on exactly what the smell was but it was some type of chemical smell. It was worst smelling in the hallway and was a little less in our room. Had the smell been as strong in the room I would have complained and tried to switch rooms, and I am guessing the hotel would have tried to accommodate us, since they seemed helpful.... Parking!!! Parking was horrible. Besides the fact that it cost $15 USD - which I was ok with paying, prior to seeing where I got stuck parking!. I think I literally got the last possible spot in the entire parking garage on the 3rd floor/basement level, I had to back my SUV crammed beside a jerk who parked crooked next to a cement pool and a wall next to a weird door. I am an excellent driver and I ended up scrapping my bumper on the weird part of the corner of the wall that stuck out funny! Yes this was my own fault, but it was very aggravating that when I later asked the hotel what the door went to, as my car was practically blocking anyone who wanted to pass through, no one knew! Although I appreciate the nice front desk lady checking with management; even they didn't know. I found this to be a bit surprising since it is the hotel's parking garage. Note: if the room didn't smell funny I would have rated it higher for room cleanliness and if the parking wasn't such a bad experience I would have rated the overall hotel higher as well. Oh the only other thing is that we never received the passcode for the free wifi when we checked in, which would have been helpful...although I'm sure we could have called down to the front desk to ask, we didn't bother since it was late and we only were there for one night...Note: I did not try the restaurant or spa so I can't comment on it... Overall, we were able to get a good price, the hotel was on sale,I found a random coupon code from the internet that surprisingly worked! I would recommend this hotel to a friend and I too would stay there once again if I were to return. :)

Biodome was cool but a bit expensive. Also the Notre-Dame Basilica was beautiful but the "lights show" was not at all what I expected. Honestly, the history lesson was interesting but a bit lengthy/boring for my taste. When I read reviews about a "lights" show I pictured something more like Disney with an actual "show" and it was more of a presentation with a few lights (so I found this to be a bit of a let-down) but my boyfriend on the other hand really enjoyed the show...I would recommend the show, but don't expect an actual "show" but more of a history lesson with a few lights. :)

One night stay for business

Started with a 20$ interior parking fee. Something to be expected in Montreal but takes the price of the stay up. I was with my mother. The room we reserved was not available so we were upgraded to a "studio" with little kitchenette, which was fine. The room was spacious and clean but had an old style. Bathroom must have been redone and was in good condition. There was no facecloth but I'm sure we could have called the reception and they would have brought us some. The staff at the reception was smiling and very helpful in recommending places to eat and regarding Metro info. Looked at the menu of the restaurant at the hotel, which seemed nice but there was nobody in the restaurant (around 7pm) so was not too inviting. Overall good stay and would recommend for a short stay.
