Nice but pricey . . .

We booked this hotel on a whim at the end of a driving tour of New England, thinking it would be nice to spend a few days in luxury prior to our flight home. And it was - but what we ended up paying was somewhat more than we had anticipated. For a start, there seems to be a hefty tax on Canadian hotel rooms, as well as a significant per diem charge for wi-fi access. The daily rate for parking is also astronomical - but we expected that. However, there was an excellent breakfast deal - a very reasonably-priced and substantial meal for two. Take the deal if it's offered - it may have been a special on this occasion.

Great Location in Montreal

Just returned from a 3-night stay at InterContinental MONTREAL. The hotel is perfectly situation between downtown, old town, and Chinatown. We were able to walk everywhere, despite the cold November temperatures. I rated room cleanliness down a notch because housekeeping didn't come to clean our room one day until after 4pm. Also, we found a pair of yucky socks that were from the previous guest. Otherwise the hotel is wonderful. The service is great and the restaurant/cafe food is good. I should also add that the price was right. :-)

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

If you are from the USA, go to Simon's department store on Rue St. Catherine. They have clothing and household goods that you just don't see in the USA. It was refreshing to find clothes that weren't embellished (ladies, you know what I mean). Rue St. Catherine has a lot of other shops as well.

Nice Stay in Montreal

Hotel was very good. Excellent location, with direct access to the underground city. Short walks to old town and center of the city. Would definitely stay here again. The hotel was immaculate, staff very friendly. They Gym could use some more equipment (only two treadmills). Food at Hotel Restaurant was pretty good and a good value.

Perfect location, perfect in every way.

This was a great hotel. Our corner room was beautiful. Perfectly located in Old Montreal. Walking distance to everything we needed. Restaurant was great in the hotel. Had the best omelette at the breakfast buffet. The salt water pool was really nice and the deck great for relaxing. The only thing that would have made this better would be free wifi in the room. It was available in the lobby which was good but in the room would have been more convenient. Staff was also vey friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.

Not worth the expense

I stayed here for a conference, and it really is only a block to the convention center, which is good. The hotel and rooms are as one would expect for a conference-oriented place. Had a horrible experience with the operator and room service. The operator was RUDE and my room service never showed up despite two additional calls (to check where it was). To be fair, when I brought it to the front desk staff in the morning (something I usually do not do!), the manager tried to help, but since I already had prepaid through the website, didn't have parking, and had meals planned already, he wasn't able to "comp" anything. If I ever go again for a conference in Montreal, I would try the other area hotels.

Great Montreal Hotel

This is truly a four star hotel! With our stay in an executive suite came access to the private club area which included a wonderful continental breakfast and an afternoon happy hour that included free access to drinks and food. The concierge was most helpful. The location was perfect for touring old Montreal.

Merci Montreal

Very nice hotel centrally located around the block from old montreal and the water. The basilica was beautiful so was st. paul street. Hotel bar had very good food. Hotel staff was very helpful and friendly, all spoke english very well. Can't get a better location, the hotel is connected to the world trade center of Montreal which has some shops and great affordable places to eat, also the metro is close by. Marius the bellman was very friendly and helpful with my 80 year old grandmother and ours bags, could not have asked for better hospitality. I would stay here again.

A reasonable choice

I was able to book at a discounted rate, which made the stay affordable. I was in Montreal for a convention at the Convention Center next door, so the location here was perfect The hotel bar and restaurant were fairly expensive, but not exorbitant. The shower never quite got to "hot," though - it was "quite warm" at best.
