Great 48
Had a great 2-day stay at the Zero-1. Had 4 rooms total - 3 regular and 1 panorama. Great location. The place itself is well decorated and a chill place to be. Rooms are clean, well appointed (sink, fridge and eating implements in each room) and well maintained. Smaller yes but totally fine. Great decor. The panorama room was a good size to have all members of the party congregate and use as the gathering spot. Heard a restaurant is opening up there soon. Should be a great addition if it follows suit with the rest of the venue.

I would use the hotel valet services. There is no parking at the hotel, but the valet service was cheap and very prompt when I asked for my car to be retrieved.

Not quite 4 stars
While our stay at Hotel 01 was fine and Montreal was great, we can't give the hotel four stars. On the pro side the staff was very helpful, and I highly recommend consulting with them if you are in Montreal to see the sights, or eat the food. The location, while central to everything, is somewhat dicey, and if you're heading up St. Laurent, seedy. However there did seem to be a hot water problem in the rooms, and we would've loved having access to a hotel bar. The decor is modern, somewhat Ikea, but not really a 4 star establishment. On the whole it was good, and it is central to going anywhere in Montreal! Be sure to bounce questions off the staff, in french or english!

Perfect location for price, the location make you want to visit the entire city because everything is in walking distance. Also the people are all friendly from staff to the people that are here on vacation. Share great ideas and restaurant with vacationers in the lobby. I’ll definitely going to head back to hotel Zero 1 this coming summer for sure.

Modern Hotel in Great Location
Hotel Zero is a stylish, modern hotel in a great spot. It is within walking distance to Chinatown, Old Montreal, Quartier des Spactacles, Downtown (Rue St. Catherine), The Village etc. The Metro station (super convenient Underground transportation) is only 2 blocks away. The view from our hotel was nice and the beds were very comfortable. The room had a mini fridge, kitchen sink, microwave, coffee pot, cutting board/knife, silverware and wine glasses and corkscrew and table with 2 chairs provided for you. Floor to ceiling cabinets/ doors kept the room looking neat if you utilized the drawers and closet. The bathroom was small but clean and updated. The only drawback of the room design was there was not enough luggage space (if you prefer laying out your suitcase and living out of it rather than unpacking) and not enough counter space in the bathroom (we used the toilet top and towel cubbies to store our toiletries). A plus for me was that they used a feather comforter with sheets instead of the sheet/yucky old blanket and itchy, even yuckier top blanket. You know those are never washed (!) so I found it very inviting to have all cotton, bleach white crisp, clean sheets to sit and lie on. The terrace may be nice in the summer but it seemed mostly (in the cold fall) to be an outdoor smoking area. Gym was small and efficient - just a few cardio machines in windowed room overlooking the terrace. The lobby was nice, staff was courteous and helpful and elevator was speedy. Bonus! There is a 24 hour convenience market downstairs around the back of the hotel which was great for picking up a bottle of wine (11pm cutoff) to enjoy in your room and a variety of late night snacks.

Short walk from hotel
You can take the bus from the airport (~30 min) to the stop right across the street from the hotel for $8 pp. The flat airport cab rate is $40. It was really easy- just buy the ticket from the kiosk inside airport and the bus stop to downtown was right outside the door. We opted to get the unlimited 3 day bus/metro pass for $16 each. The underground Metro was a great way to see all the neighborhoods in Montreal.

Maybe it was just after a big party, but...
The hotel was totally not what one would expect from a 4 star hotel. We got there around 5-5:30 PM on a Sunday. From the entrance and the reception area one could sense that there was something going on. There were garbage bags all over the floor - some of them full with what looked like beer cans and bottles. The staff told us that the night before they had a big party, and that they were still cleaning up. There were also different bags and luggages laying all over the floor. Stains all over the room. Not sure if anyone would have actually desired to sleep in those bed sheets. Almost checked out even before checking in. To be honest, the hotel looked pretty much like a scary dungeon.

Centrally located, comfortable hotel
My boyfriend and I stayed for a few nights for a little getaway. While the rooms were a little small, they were always clean and very comfortable. The staff at the front desk were extremely helpful in getting us around the city with great tips on the Metro, Bixi bikes, and the bus system. The neighborhood itself certainly lacks charm--it's essentially red light district and right next to a park filled with assorted characters. That said, it is centrally located and within close walking distance to Old Montreal, a (long, but pleasant) walk from Plateau and Mile End, and very close to the subway to get you wherever else you'd like to go. Despite the state of the neighborhood, I'd probably stay here again just because of the ease of getting to everywhere I'd want to go in Montreal.

Snazzy but small rooms
This is a very hip hotel in a pretty good location. The staff was courteous though housekeeping missed a few things. No biggee. A real issue with this is that it is a 12 story hotel and only has one elevator. This made for many delays since they are also trying to sell condos in the building so it was put to a lot of use. Also, the rooms are attractive but really small...basically all bed (which was comfortable). They could use a little more "surface area" especially in the bathroom to put your things on.

high style in Montreal
Bed was super comfortable, staff fine, bathroom lacking surfaces and hooks/racks for stuff, nice windows and views. The blocks of rue St.-Dominique near the hotel are very sketchy.
