Brutal
There was glass on the floor in the entrance way of the room. The carpet was old & weathered. There was garbage in the waste container in the washroom. There was a real sense that the room was unclean. Brutal.

Good Hotel in Downtown
The Delta Montreal is a solid 3.5 stars hotel located in downtown Montreal that serves both those on business and leisure travel. I was in Montreal for Labor Day weekend to spend time going to the Village bars with a friend. The Delta is about a one mile walk from the start of East Ste. Catherine street, where the Village begins. It is located close to Metro stops so transportaion is not a problem when staying at the Delta. I was greeted warmly by the reception staff and check-in was quick and painless. I had a standard king room, which was of good size, clean, and nicely appointed with a very comfortable bed fitted with layers of sheets and other bedding. The bathroom was fairly large and clean, with a shower and tub combination. The room had a small terrace which you could walk onto by going through a sliding door. The hotel also had a business center with two computer terminals with complimentary internet access. If you want wi-fi access, however, you have to pay extra. I did not use the restaurants or fitness/pool facilities, so I can't comment on these. Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Delta and would recommend it to those looking for reasonably-priced accommodations in the downtown Montreal area.

Clean, comfortable hotel
Hotel was great; very clean and in a perfect location. The room is very large and comfortable. The bed, pillows and the comforter are great! You don't hear the street noise. It is quite except for drunk young guests laughing loud in the hallway. But orbitz reserved only a smoking room for me although I didn't request a smoking room(Orbitz's rate was lower than others, no wonder!). When I went to the room, I couldn't breath, the smoke smell was so heavy. I asked the receptionist, she was nice enough to change the room but didn't give me a non-smoking room, because the reservation was for a smoking room! Other than that rooms are large and clean. The staff is nice but don't sound very knowledgeable. The parking is always a problem in the hotel. Ask detailed questions in the beginning about the parking rates and time etc. You can easily park in the street during the weekend.

Great location
I was disappointed with Orbitz and the hotel in not allowing me to book a non-smoking room. However, when I arrived, I was given the choice of three smoking rooms and was provided with a machine to suck the smell out of the least offensive room. It ended up not being the king room I booked, but a double that was larger. The staff was helpful, but staying on the 19th floor and not having my key work several times in one day was quite frustrating. I initially booked the hotel for the use of the lap swimming pool, but was busy the entire time I was there sight seeing, walking, and helping with the preparations for my friends' wedding, that I didn't get the chance to use it. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. The free in-room wi-fi is definitely a bonus.

Long walk from hotel
Definitely check out the Stade Olympique, Biodome, and Botanical Garden. The walk from downtown is about 1.5 hours, but would be much quicker on the Metro or renting a bike.

Delta Downtown, Prime Location
This hotel is getting old, but well maintained. Being a single traveler, I am very happy I chose to pay a little more and stay on the club level. There were many families, groups, and small children in the hotel, so being here kept them away from me. The location is superb, one block from the Metro, restaurants, 3 blocks from St. Catherine Ave shopping and nightlife. The Lounge on the 23rd floor was an oasis, breakfast in the AM and light snacks and drinks from 5-7PM. I was here during the FrancoFollies Festival and I could see and hear the main stage from my room. I enjoy music and this was a big plus. There were a few quirks...the shower set off the smoke alarm once. The cordless phone had an annoying habit of beeping every few hours as it was charging. The wired internet was quite fast and reliable ( complimentary on the Club Floors) However, I would recommend bringing a long ethernet cord or you will only be able to use it at the work desk. Local calls were also complimentary.

Great Hotel
Overall, great experience at the Delta Montreal. This was my second stay there in 3 years and it will be my hotel of choice next time I'm in town as well. Great location, within minutes of all the wonderful shopping on St. Catherine Street. A little noisy a couple of nights but that was ONLY because the jazz festival had started and bands were jamming within blocks of the hotel. Otherwise, the Delta is a quiet place to stay. I was in town for the music anyway, so I loved the proximity! Highly recommended.

Rent a bike off the street. $5 for 24 hours and you can drop bikes off and pick bikes up from the stands all around the city any time you like within those 24 hours. Best way to get around.

Montreal Metro located two blocks away which provided access to the city and its attractions. Location of nearby restaurants needs to be provided as hotel does not have good lunch or dinner facilities.
