Hotel Very Noisy until 3 a.m.
I really enjoyed this small boutique hotel EXCEPT that it is located next door to a Pub. There was music, singing and lots of talking until 3 a.m. for three of the 4 nights I was there. The noise ruined the lovely accomodations. The hotel staff said they could not do anything about it. So, if you are a night owl then I would recommend this hotel to you. If you enjoy a quiet & good night sleep each night-then I would look elsewhere.

Very accommodating, nice & central location
My check-in was scheduled at 3:00 PM. Since I was traveling the night before and hadn't slept at all, I requested and early check-in (I got to the hotel by 7:30 AM). As soon as a room was available, they checked me in (by 8:30 AM). The room has a fancy electronic safety box, Wi-Fi, and breakfast is included. The staff was very polite and helpful to offer assistance and/or information. The hotel/room was very clean, and neat. The only down side of this hotel, is that it may get a little noisy sometimes at night; because there's a Pub on premises. So, if you are looking for quite nights, don't book this hotel. (I personally can sleep with a music band playing besides me..lol). The hotel is located nearby the Bloor St and University interception, just one block from Spadine subway station. Please note Spadine is one of the two stations were the yellow and the green subway lines merge; which is very useful to move around everywhere in the city. The hotel is a Victorian architecture, with a great ambiance, and well decorated.

Shopping tip:
Long walk from hotel
The shopping center "The Bay", located at Bay St & Bloor St interception, just one subway stop from Spadine (Bay Station) or about 1 mile walk. I had to spend one day just shopping over there. Every time I spent $75 or more, they gave me a $25 discount for my next shopping; which I used in other departments. It was a great shopping experience for nice branded items at a great value!!!

Good room at an unbeatable price for Toronto
The room was clean, comfortable and very charming. The hotel is located in a nice neighborhood, steps away from trendy Bloor street and Spadina metro station. The hotel is indeed next to a drinking place popular with students, but the noise during the night was quite low - not unlike a next door neighbour. There was no parking when we got there so we had to park in a nearby municipal parking lot at ~20$ / night. Staff was courteous and professional. Next time we're in Toronto, we'll be staying there again.

Staff was wonderful...location not what
We were unaware that this was actually a "Bed and Breakfast" on the campus of the Univeristy of Toronto. It is on fraternity row right next to some of the frat houses. The rooms were VERY clean and neat...quaint. The staff was WONDERFUL...when we explained our discomfort at check in she told us she can see we were disappointed and she wanted our Toronto stay to be wonderful so she cancelled our reservation without harm and gave us ideas as to where we should stay. For some people this might be a great place to stay but for us we wanted a nice downtown hotel with a city view. I just wished I had realized what this was when I made the reservation.

Well. it was okay....
This was our first trip to Toronto and we did not know what to expect, the price for the room was pretty good, but we do not use a credit card ever and we had to pay in cash as well as leave a 50.00 deposit, when we asked for a receipt, we were told we would get one in the morning at check out. I was worried all night, because you know the same person that took the cash was not going to be the same person at the desk in the morning. We were fine, but to dish out 180.00 in cash with no proof of payment?????? The coninental breakfast was okay, the toaster and bagel cutter were dirty, but juice and coffee were fine. Pastries a little old....about the same as other places... You have to leave one building to go to another to check in and out, to get cash from ATM, Soda maching takes coins only, it was very hot in some parts of the building and cold in others.

Friendly, convenient and clean
The Madison is very well located near to the ROM and public transport. Our room, 202, wasn't the biggest in the world and the bathroom wouldn't take anyone over 5'10". Non the less, the room was spotlessly clean, the staff friendly and the adjoining pub lively and fun.

Try the Bier Markt or Beer Bistro for a good night out in Toronto. Not surprisingly I'm a beer lover...

beauty in the heart of the city!
I arrived at the Madison early, and was immediately impressed by the service I recieved. The concierge was very friendly and upgraded our room (at no extra cost) after we expressed some concern. She also gave us some great tips about what was happening in the city and the best way to travel to different events and activities. The room was beautiful, with a romantic fireplace that we very much enjoyed. The hotel also has a great bar and patios, which we recieved a voucher for upon checking in. In all, this was one of the best hotel experiances I have had and would recommend it to all!

English inn charm
This is a lovely Victorian house with beautiful wooden moldings and period wallpaper. The food is the pub next door was satisfactory as was the continental breakfast. Comfortable bed and good climate control in the room. We didn't spend much time in the hotel but it was clean and charming.
