Parking far away
Since it is a city center location the parking was a bit of a challenge. They recommended to use the public parking quite far away from the hotel, so you better get your stuff to the hotel before parking. The fee for parking was high without a special rate to the hotel quests. The heating/cooling unit was was very loud.

Good small hotel
This is a small hotel with small, but comfortable rooms. It is located next door to the King Street subway station where there is a big food court and shops. Ask at the desk how to work the phone because some of the buttons do not work. Whenever I asked for help at the desk, I was treated courteously and efficiently. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Comfy bed. Great location. Went to a concert at the ACC and had a great time. Over Easy was great for a quick, good breakfast the next day.

Great Historic Hotel
I was in town for a conference held at a more expensive, large hotel, but I luckily decided to save a little money staying at this small hotel. The location was ideal, within close walking distance to everything downtown, including a great breakfast place in the lobby, and the best Irish pub in town across the street. My room was very comfortable, but a little small--I was stayed in a standard queen room--but I was by myself so it was fine.

Cozy yet refined
Friendly staff and a comfortable room. The room sizes are small, so if you're spending a lot of time in the room, you probably won't be satisfied. Regrettably, there is no parking close to the hotel. A few blocks to walk in the rain was not so desirable. Enjoyed my stay overall. The location is right in the heart of Toronto's entertainment district, and the price was reasonable. I would stay here again. Also, the food @ the unaffiliated restaurant located adjacent to the lobby made for a decent breakfast.

Room amenities/room service
We never received the wake up call we had requested. The telephone in our room took forever to figure out how to work. We did not receive free local newspaper at our door in the morning (we saw copies at other rooms). The attendant at check out barely looked at me when I was checking out, returning room passkey etc. I had to clarify about the $25.00 deposit on room passkey...that this was now to be voided. Just not friendly at all.

Snug in downtown Toronto
Small but updated historic building---a refreshing change from the impersonal and sprawling newer chain locations. Ornate details abound, but the individualized rooms are up-to-date and highly functional. Although centrally located in the heart of downtown Toronto, this seemed to be a quiet location. An adjoining restaurant---"Over Easy"---provides a unique variety within its breakfast and luncheon offerings. My room had a mini-fridge, which provided great storage for perishables, ice cubes, and liquors. Although Toronto has a great and wide range of hotels, I'd return to the Victoria in a snap.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
Eaton Centre is a nearby retail mall that's numbingly huge but worth an afternoon's inspection. For real shopping quality, The Bay (Yonge St.) is a must; it's the grand old Hudson's Bay Co., which dates from 1610 (or thereabouts).
