Be downtown
Great location, you pop out of the hotel and walk right over to Dundas square which is the "Times Square" of Toronto. Room was very clean and quiet (was up on 20th floor), nice 80 cm flatscreen, and coffee machine, did not have breakfast so can't comment on that one. The hotel includes a swimming pool and a gym, but haven't been there. Parking is $15 per day. Room prices is what you must expect for a hotel like this in downtown Toronto.

Dark=Dark Room
Carlton Street is about as dark a street as you will find. It made the room equally dark. Comfortable enough. Well located relative to all the action on Younge.

Ok for what we needed but not clean
There was hair beside the toilet in the bathroom and they had plenty of time to clean the room because we showed up well after check in time. There was nothing in our reservation packet were to park and that was in the basement of the hotel for 25.00 for one night. They only have four elevators in one location for the whole hotel so it was very crowded and slow. Room was descent, a bit small and it had a fridge. Staff was helpful and friendly, they also had a travel desk for tours etc. She was a big help for general city information. Location was descent but Toronto is way too much like New York with all the people. We drove to Toronto from Niagara Falls to see the Hockey Hall of Fame. I think we would have rather drove to Toronto for the day instead of staying the night. Niagara is much nicer for a relaxed vacation but WARNING...Canada is expensive, we spent way more than we budgeted out.

I'd giive it 3.5 stars
it is a nice hotel, clean in a descent location. The public transportation os within steps. The people are extremely friendly. The rooms are small if You are traveling with a family of 4. I was traveling alone only for one night. My only complaint is that the parking is a little scary and the fire alarm went off in the morning for no aparent reason.

Average
I'm from Michigan and I stayed here for 1 night. The price wasn't bad for the location. There is a lot of food places near. A lot of stuff within walking distance. Parking is 20$ a day. The staff is very very friendly. All so nice. The rooms were the smallest rooms I have ever stayed in.The bed pretty much touched the wall. It did have a bit of a mildo smell to it. The carpet was stained and the bathroom was small. But for downtown and for the price I guess it wasn't too bad.

Jazz 2012
The hotel was nice, nothing that would stand out however the outstanding part of the vacation was Alex the concierge. Alex was the reason for choosing the Holiday Inn at this location. I called from the states and Alex provided me with the Jazz Festival locations, explained the easy access that was available from the hotel location. He provided me valuable information about restaurants and other great attractions in Toronto I can’t say enough about Alex and his care for us while on vacation. His service started before we reached the hotel and continued until we left… the hotel was ok but the concierge at this hotel is the best…

Not worth it
The rooms were VERY small and the beds were not the best! When I checked in, they gave me the wrong room only because they were fully booked (not an upgraded room, more like a downgrade) it wasn’t until I called them to say "hey, i think you gave me the wrong room" until they told me they put me in a worse room because they over booked. I didn’t get an apology or anything. Food at the restaurant was not worth what you will pay. The staff was okay. I sent a fax to the hotel before I checked in (they confirmed they received it) when I got there, they couldn’t find it.

Very nice hotel!
Very modern hotel with very clean and comfortable rooms. Certainly exceeded my expections overall! Only real short fall to this hotel that I noticed was that the price is sorta high, but probably average for the area that it's located in.

There are many theatres that are located around the hotel, I would recommend checking out the plays and musicals in Toronto!
