Toronto Hilton Gardens Inn
The facility is beautiful, located right downtown, within walking distance to everything. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The nice times end there. Our room was next to a bar (bars in CA close at 3 a.m.) and both nights it went until 3. Called the front desk to get a different room and was told that all rooms were like that, since it was the entertainment district - found that hard to believe - and they could only move us up. Next we were lucky enough to share our room with a variety of insects, from aphids flying about to spiders crawling on our little boy as he slept (and biting him), not to mention both my wife and I. The beds were like rocks with blankets thrown over them. Soundproofing in the rooms was not a priority since we could hear everything in the hallways and outside the windows. The staff at the restaurant was courteous and attentive, but the prices for the meals were sky high even for hotel standards. I travel frequently on business and know that most hotels throw in a continental breakfast for free, but not HGI. We liked Toronto and will visit again but will NOT stay at the HGI and recommend any reader to avoid it as well.

Toronto
It is newly remodeled so it looks good. Not sure it will hold up the test of time. Otherwise you get what you would expect.

Very nice, but noisy on the weekend
The rooms were very nice and the staff very helpful and considerate. The only problem is that there is a nightclub next door, and if you face in that direction you will hear the music and people shouting over it until the wee hours (at least 2 AM)! We asked for a new room on Sat AM and were provided with one facing another direction, where you could barely hear the beat, but of course it is a pain to move. If you plan to stay over Fri/Sat make sure to ask upfront whether your room faces the club.

A great hotel at a reasonable price
The staff was very very friendly and respectful and willing to go out of their way. The hotel and rooms were clean and well taken care of. What impressed me the most was when I asked the front desk for earplugs because a bar near the hotel had the bass on their music playing loud enough that I could hear it on the 12th floor. One of the employees at the front desk went to the bar and asked them to turn down the bass, and also got two pairs of earplugs and delivered them to my room.

Location, location, location
Although we go to Toronto multiple times a year, this is our first experience at the Hilton Gardens Inn. We chose it for its proximity to the Rodgers Center for a Red Sox game. We walked there and back with ease. But there are lots of other location perks--close to funky Queen Street, theaters, the concert hall, and lots of fun little restaurants. The room was modern, well decorated, comfortable with excellent staff responsiveness. We will return for future visits.

Great base in downtown Toronto.
The Hilton Garden Downtown is very new and has the feel of a boutique hotel. Well designed with cosy gathering spaces - a nice change from the typical cathedral-like public areas of many of Toronto's downtown hotels. In the heart of the entertainment district with lots of great restaurants nearby. Close to a Rocket station, tram car route and within walking distance of many Toronto attractions. Did so much walking that we were too tired to use the hotel's pristine pool, hot tub and exercise center! We appreciated the attention paid to details like providing a microwave and real coffee mugs in our room. My only disappointment was that the bathroom had a walk-in shower and no bath to soak in. Breakfasts were good. Very good bar with knowledgable staff. We'll definitely be back!

Right in the Middle
Arriving on Saturday for Sunday's Bear game against the Buffalo Bills, we spent the day and early evening sightseeing. Everything was within easy walking distance, the St. Lawrence Market, the CNN Tower, the Air Canada Center and the Hockey Hall of Fame. Everyone we met was extremely friendly and helpful and made the trip that much more enjoyable. When sadly Monday came, our day of departure, wee actually walked back to the airport, a trip of about twenty minutes. I would certainly stay at this hotel again as it makes everything right there.

Short walk from hotel
Make sure you make reservations at Gretzky's before your trip, as after the Bear game it would have been a three hour wait to get in without one.

Having to pay $35 to park in their
Having to pay $35 to park in their garage is ridiculous. We payed to stay at their hotel so parking should be included.

Great all around
The location was great and most everything that we needed was within a short walk. Public transportation stops were fairly close. The street cars and buses could be reached easily, but the subway was a little bit of a walk. There is a good burrito place north of the hotel on Peter St. called Burrito Bandidos. The staff was very nice and I really enjoyed the free internet in my room. Keep up the good work.
