We enjoyed at our stay at the hotel and it was in a good a central location... BUt two nearby restaurants were terrible. We should have eaten at the hotel instead.

First-Clas Weekend

Wonderful hotel in a great location. Walking distance to everything. The hotel staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful with information regarding sightseeing and transportation. The only issue I had was their advertising "free" WiFi in the room when, in fact, you are charged a facilities fee of $15. per day, which I was told covers the use of the pool and gym and WiFi. When I explained at checkout that the WiFi was non-existent in the room, they immediately removed the facilities fee from my bill. I would highly recommend the Metropolitian to everyone.

Friendly and Competent.

Good location, good on site restaurants, no room service except for breakfast. No booklet in the room describing their services.

very good location

the hotel was good as I mentioned above, but I was mandatory extra charge of $9 per night as service charge, regardless of using. I expect this amount ($36) will be refunded by you, as it was not mentioned at the time of purchase. I would recommend more transparency, in such situation, and if there is a mandatory charge, why is not asked for at the time of booking?

Unexpected facilities fee

[...] When I checked in, they asked me for a $9.75 "Facilities Fee" per night. I have travelled and stayed in many hotels but have never been asked for a $10/per night facilities fee to use the fitness centre. I said I wasn't going to use the fitness room or the wireless internet and the manager said they couldn't track that I won't use it so they had to charge me, like they charge everyone else. [...] He finally waived the fee. When I checked out, they came at me for the Facilities Fee again. I said it was waived and they asked for all the reasons why again. Check if there is an additional $10/per night facilities fee before staying.

I'd do it again

My boyfriend and I decided to take an overnight trip to Toronto and found the best deal was the Metropolitan. The location was awesome! Right in the heart of downtown, the room was a bit small but very clean and welcoming. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There were 3 issues in the actual room: the air conditioner didn't cool the room at all (& it was 90 degrees that weekend), one of the phones didn't work (luckily there were two others), and we were unable to connect to their wifi :o(

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

The hotel is in walking distance from the "fashion district" & had so many choices for clothes/shoes/accessories!

Efficient, elegant service

Arrived for a weekend anniversary getaway. Parked early in the the hotel garage, walked around Toronto, and desk staff validated our parking ticket as if we'd just checked in at 3pm. Upgraded to king-sized bed for free, desk staff very courteous. Rooms (and hotel in general) have a minimalist, lightly Asian flair to them. Only complaints are somewhat ridiculous on-demand movie rates ($14 for releases already on DVD? Please), and a mandatory "facilities" fee that applies whether you ever step foot in their pool/sauna/whatever. On the whole, though, a worthwhile stay--especially if you're planning to hit Lai Wah Heen for dim sum.
