Howard Johnson Hotel by the Falls Niagara Falls

We stayed here for two nights and overall it was a comfortable experience. Parking was easy, though there is a charge, and the hotel was walking distance to all the major attractions. The only real complaint was the wifi. It is very slow and spotty. I had some work to do while away, and the wifi made it painfully difficult. Otherwise, though, a good hotel with helpful staff.

The staff was very friendly & accomidating. The hotel claimed to be 1 block from falls but it was at least three blocks from a fall view.

My wife and my Mother-in-law were with me. My Mother-in-law is handicapped and travels with her toy poodle. The staff was very accommodating to our special needs and very pleasant at all times. The rooms were very spacious and the beds were very comfortable. We would stay there again if we go back.

The hotel is in a great location at the top of Clifton Hill. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance and other things to do. The Hotel is in good condition and the front desk associates are nice. The HUGE problem we had was with the pool. We were looking for a good deal with a pool for our kids. The pool was the coldest I have EVER been in! The pool was kept at 58-60 degrees. They have a plexiglass divider that separates the outside portion with the inside portion. In the summer months this would work perfect. I cannot believe how cold the kept the indoor pool. Clearly they have no heater in the winter months and I would not recomend staying there if you are looking to swim with the kids.

Very clean and updated

This hotel was advertised as being a block from Niagara Falls, but that block was approximately a 15-20 minute walk, which included a very steep hill on your return to the hotel. That should be noted, also it was advertised that you could take the hotel shuttle to the Falls and other attractions but the ad never said there was an almost $8.00 per person charge. In every other hotel I have stayed in this was a free service. The room was okay, but the bathroom had no vanity space and in the tub there was no place to hang your towels or put your soap. There was also no safety rail in the shower in case of fall. The color scheme is also very depressing, everything is brown from the rugs in the halls to the spreads on the beds, could be brightened up a little. There were two hairs in the bathtub and a bobby pin on the rug in the bedroom area when we arrived. There was a $10.00 a night charge for the refrigerator and an $8.00 charge per night for parking, again I have never paid for either of these things in any other hotel I have stayed at. There was a TGI Fridays directly across the stree that play music outdoors at 7am the first two mornings we were there making it impossible to sleep. Luckily there are so many things to do at the Falls that we didn't spend a lot of time in the room, but if I were to go back I would check into other hotels.

The room was horrible, the bathroom was very small, no fridge or microwave in the room, the mattress was uncomfortable. Dirty carpet.
