Hotels in Banff

Banff is a city that sits right in the middle of Canada's Banff National Park. The town is situated between a number of mountains, including Slate Range, Waputik Range, Mount Victoria and Mount Hector. As a result, it shouldn't be surprising that visitors choose lodgings in the area, as they offer opportunities to ski, view wildlife or hike. Of course, if you're not one for strenuous exercise, then you may enjoy touring one of many art galleries, riding the Banff Gondola, or relaxing in the Banff Hot Springs.

Key facts

To get to Banff, most visitors fly into Calgary International Airport (YYC). From there, you'll need to travel west on the Trans-Canada Highway, and then north on Icefields Parkway. Thanks to the city's major emphasis on environmentalism, all visitors are then encouraged to park their vehicles, and use public transportation or walk.

Hints and tips

Winter guests in Banff will need to prepare for snowy and cold conditions; the average low reaches 5 degrees Fahrenheit. If you're visiting during Bon App├ętit Banff, however, you're likely not to notice the cold thanks to the tasty treats.

Summer is quite a different story; despite being high up in the mountains, Banff can get surprisingly warm with average highs reaching 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Of course, this means that you can enjoy dining outside at a number of restaurants, or you could attend a concert at The Banff Centre.
