Long weekend at Fairmont Southampton - just what we needed
This was out third trip to the Fairmont Southampton in as many years; and I'm pleased to say we've found something new each time we visit. Upon arrival we stopped in at the Jasmine Lounge for a light lunch in the outdoor area overlooking the pool. The service was a tad on the slow side but sitting there with the mid day sun shining down and the soft breeze coming off the Atlantic more than made up for any delays. Our "Harbour View" room looked out towards the north with views of Great Sound across towards the Dockyard attractions. Since our visit last spring it appears some rooms have been upgraded from smaller tube TVs to a massive 46" flat screen. The King sized bed was very comfortable. My biggest recommendation from this visit was the Sunday Brunch at The Waterlot. This is an absolute must-do and will probably turn out to be the least expensive meal you will find on the hotel grounds.

Short walk from hotel
Across from where the trolleys stop to bring guests to the beach, there's a parking area for scooters. Almost hidden next to it is a staircase cut into the limestone. Take the stairs up and follow the path to the south (towards the water). The path winds up through the brush towards the old tennis courts and finally ends up at one of the highest points on the property. You'll have a fantastic view of the south shore beaches and a great spot to watch the sunset.

What A Wonderful Place
We visited in March and had a wonderful time. The staff was very accomodating to our dietary restrictions. The Fairmount room was gorgeous! I especially enjoyed the feather pillows. The spa was also great. If I ever go to Bermuda again, I would defintely stay at the Fairmount Southampton. I am even contemplating having my wedding there! What a great place!

Best of Both Worlds
Great amenities and opportunities at this hotel. It is the best of both worlds - a fantastic resort with a free ferry into the main town of Hamilton. Although we did not use them all in our stay, it is great to have the option.

On the border of the exotic
The South P, as the locals call it, is the perfect location for those with a need for the beach. Walk 10 minutes down the hill, or take a 2 minute free trolley ride, and you arrive at the hotel maintained beach with wonderful amenities, or go just one beach over to one of the most spectacular public beaches anywhere along with cove after grotto after beach of white sand with turquoise water. Hotel staff are exceptionally warm and friendly, yet the room was not fully cleaned on one of our 4 days stay. The beds are wonderfully comfortable and the double sink bathroom added to our ease at settling in. Our room was on the second floor with a great view of the harbor, but with the air conditioners just below at ground level the noise level coming through the open door to the balcony sometimes drowned out the morning roosters call to dawn. Great place to stay, good value. Not all the restaurants affiliated are excellent for the value, but we managed to find a local place down the street that I recommend: Island Cuisine. Best fish we ate!

Fun for the family
We had a great time.
My husband, son (14 months) and I went to Bermuda for the second time this past March Break. We had wonderful weather and very much enjoyed our holiday. The staff were very helpful (and we called on them a lot) and our room was large and clean. They didn't always get the price 'right' for the 6-7 dollar morning latte (sometimes more, sometimes less) and room service was very pricey, but otherwise it was a great base of operations. The trolley came often, and the poolside food and hotel restaurant were nice. Didn't like the associated restaurants as much but we had yummy food around the island. Check out Barracuda Grill!

A great location to enjoy the beach and biking
The location is great to enjoy the beach (the hotel owns a private one) and biking along the railroad trail (we biked to the naval dockyard, which took about 3.5 hours and was very enjoyable). The hotel also has some great restaurants, but they are a little on the pricier side. Visiting other restaurants needs some traveling (that is why I gave four stars for the value). The hotel also offers a free ferry ride to Hamilton, but the last ferry back is a bit too early to enjoy dinner there. There are buses to key tourist attractions as well.

Perfect location for visiting the best beaches
The staff was very helpful and the room and its view of the Atlantic as well as the Gibb's Hill Lighthouse were amazing. The private beach was great for swimming and its location near Horse Shoe Bay is a huge advantage for this Hotel. Not all the restaurants are open all the time, which was disappointing. In addition, there was not a great deal of difference in price between the restaurants (all moderate to very expensive), a few more moderate options would have been nice. Great staff, great location, but budget accordingly for food and transportation as not much else is nearby. The ferry to Hamiliton is a great service but be aware that on winter hours 6pm is the last trip back to the Hotel and a taxi ride will be around $20 if you do not want to ride the bus ($4 for an all zone token). I would stay there again.

Short walk from hotel
Just north of the hotel on the corner of South Rd. and Lighthouse Rd. is a local restaurant and pantry (food and liquor store) called Henry the VIII's. It has a sushi bar, fine dinning room (I recommend the Rock Fish Bermuda style) and a pub option for dinning. The menus are more affordable then the hotel's options. We met a lot of locals there, and it is an easy walk with a beautiful view of the ocean (walk on the Ocean side of the road). Also, stock up at the pantry for easy lunches on the beach or breakfasts.

Fantastic family getaway!
We love everything in this hotel! Location is perfect - it is close to beaches and close enough for both South Shore and Middle roads. Hotel shuttles are cruising every 15 minutes, so if you are not in a mood to climb on the top of the hill (5 minutes walking distance!) you can always get a ride. In a mood for shopping - get a free ferry to Hamilton and in 25 minutes you are there. Everyone is polite and friendly, concierge is the best! There were no question they could not solve in a matter of minutes. We were there last week of February, off season and our outside pool was closed, but weather was really nice, sunny days, reasonably warm water even for my wife. Fantastic family getaway!
