Great, chill spot

Definitely recommend renting a car if you are going to stay here. I thought we'd be able to surf at the resort/in close walking distance but its really not a great surf spot (thought it is a great spot for kiteboarding). I loved it and thougth it was a great value, but would say its more of a 3.5 star than a 4 star really.

Excellent hotel

This was our second time to the silver point and it was just as awesome. Beautiful location , great service and good food. The hotel is away from all the craziness of the gap and Bridgetown which adds to the relaxation. I plan on returning.

Great if you kitesurf

We booked this hotel specifically because we wanted to learn to kiteboard from the kitesurf beach shop located next door. We stayed in an oceanfront studio on the 3rd floor. Views were phenomenal and we enjoyed watching the kiteboarders and kitesurfers out there all day. These people are hard core and you have to be really good (level 3 IKO) to kite here without having a lesson. The wind was great every day for several hours a day. We went Jan 24-30. They say wind is best Nov-Mar+. The hotel was ok though. The bed was fine. Pillows were plentiful but very hard and lumpy. The air conditioner blows directly on the bed and you can't adjust the vents. Finally at the end of the trip, we thought to tie a sheet to the bedframe (4 poster bed) to deflect the air. That was a big help. Room was fairly clean. Water is ok to drink. There is a full size refrigerator in the room, along with a microwave, some dishes and silverware. We didn't eat at the hotel's restaurant since it was kind of expensive. We brought all our own food and that worked out fine. If we go back, we will probably stay here again because the location is great for what we want to do but I do feel it's kind of expensive.

Amazing location, set along the silver sands beach. Perfect for a get-away, especially if you want a not so crowded hotel/beach. All the amenities were available, did not have that sense of a rush to be "first come first serve". Silver sands offers a lot of water sports as well, for example, kitesurfing, kitesailing, paddleboarding, etc. Transportation to and from the hotel is cheap, as long as you utilize the public buses, which cost USD $1 to get to bridgetown/oistins, rockley, hastings, etc. If you want to go further north or go to crane beach, just take a transfer at Oistins for another $1. Very safe, and everyone seems helpful. We even took it back at night (though it was difficult to see, but the local people let us know when to get off).

Not Bad...But not the Hilton Barbados

This was a fairly decent hotel...but it's not in the best area. Furthermore, besides the fact that it's the closest hotel to the airport (the Silver Sands is being renovated when this review was created), there ARE better hotels out there. Overall, not a bad experience, but the food was not fantastic by any means. If you do stay here, I recommend eating elsewhere. The pool, the beach, and the bar are nice to have, though. And security is almost always present, which was nice and made me feel relatively safe during my stay. If you're going to stay here, do so for the kite surfing, body boarding, and the waves in general. If not, there are better hotels to stay at in Barbados.

So disappointed.....

No wifi access available in room or throughout complex only one designated location. Resort is not accessible to any major retail shops or stores and hotel shop has extremely overpriced items. I will not be staying at this resort ever again. The staff was very friendly however.

Mixed bag

This hotel definitely isn't 4-star. First of all, there was no-one at the guard booth when I arrived so that I had to go wandering around the property trying to find reception. Upon getting to my room, it smelt strongly of bleach (a bit overwhelming), and the "partial ocean view" was actually a nonexistent ocean view - unless I went outside to the patio (which was right next to the main thoroughfare, so completely lacking in quiet or privacy). The day beds on the deck are a lovely idea, but once someone's been on them they're soaking wet and smelly. The deck also shakes markedly when someone walks past, making it less than serene for reading or relaxation. The water on the beach is a beautiful colour, but very rough and the beach (and nearby hotel deck) were plagued with sandflies (I have the bites as souvenirs). The bar/restaurant staff were noisy when present, and then sometimes unavailable -- I had to call room service three times over half an hour before someone finally begrudgingly answered. After all that, the food was just OK. The flat screen TV only carried about 14 channels with poor reception, and none of them were local Barbadian channels. I'm always interested in experiencing local culture, so that was a disappointment. The pool, however was quite lovely. Next time I go to Barbados, I will be staying somewhere else unless the price for this property goes down.

Peaceful and private.

The hotel is about 20 minutes from the airport. Our taxi representative did not show up to pick us up at midnight. AVOID Caribbean Dynamics. The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are covered in Mahogany wood, and very well air conditioned. Linens, etc. are kept very clean. The food is pretty good, but very pricey. My husband and I ate three meals most of our 5 days spent at the hotel, and spent nearly nine hundred dollars on food alone. You will most likely spend nearly 100 dollars on dinner alone, for two. At least sixty on breakfast, and about the same for lunch. Getting to Bridgetown will cost you 25 US dollars from the hotel, or you can walk to the end of the street and catch the local transportation for 2 US dollars. There is NO ATM at the hotel. The closest ATM is located about 10 minutes from the hotel in Oistens. Bridgetown was surprisingly not that impressive. (Unless you're only buying jewelry, purses, and shirts.) I would recommend this location for couples only, and a plentiful resource of money for hotel food only. Otherwise you'll pay an arm and leg to get into town each day. Also, this beach is for kite surfers. Water is very rough, not fit for average swimming.

Good value

The staff was friendly and quick to respond to our needs. Silver Point is not terribly far from some questionable neighborhoods, but it stayed pretty quiet while we were there, and there was a security guard out front for our entire stay, 24 hours a day. The living room is open air and is not air conditioned (as is most everything on the island), so it can get quite warm and humid in there. The bedrooms are cool and comfortable. The restaurant is nice and has views of the crashing waves of the Atlantic. Unless you're a kite surfer, you probably won't get much use out of the hotel beach. The water was too choppy for swimming while we were there. However, it will only take you about 8-10 minutes to get to the beautiful and calm Miami Beach. As Silver Point is a bit isolated from any restaurants or attractions, we rented a car and found it very useful on trips to Harrison's cave, Flower forest, the Barbados Wildlife Reserve, and Speightstown, which would have been quite expensive by taxi. Make sure to get a GPS with BajanNav, as there aren't really street names anywhere.

Not a family or a romantic getaway..a kite surfer's heaven only

The hotel was very nice, but it was just too far from the towns of interest. And, it really had no beach to swim in. If you are a kite surfer then it is great, but we were ill advised by your customer representative. Instead of being so remote and isolated, we should have been advised to stay at one of the hotels on the West coast or near St. Lawrence Gap.
