Cheap Barbados hotel and travel tips

Cheap Caribbean vacations: Why I love Barbados

By Vince Font There’s something that’s always drawn me to Barbados. Maybe it’s the fact that you really can’t get any further east without actually exiting the Caribbean and finding yourself already halfway across the Atlantic to Africa. Or maybe it’s the local culture, and the fact that everyone there speaks English so I don’t have to feel as if I’m coming off like another annoying tourist (which I am, let’s face it). But looking over the bevy of cheap Caribbean vacations that I found online recently, I realized that I might just be in love with Barbados because it’s so darn cheap to vacation there. If you think that’s silly and that maybe I need to perform a reevaluation of my priorities, check out the two  cheap Caribbean vacations I found below and then tell me I’m crazy. The House by Elegant Hotels: Located on a white sand beach on the west coast of Barbados, the 40-minute distance from Grantley Adams International Airport might seem a bit of a stretch -- but when I noticed that one of the amenities on arrival is a free 30-minute jet lag massage, I just figure some distances are worth what awaits you at the end of the road. With a three-night stay hovering just more than $1,100 and a full week-long stay (seven nights) edging upwards of $2,000, some people might balk at the price. But don’t forget, that includes taxes, round trip airfare, hotel stay and additional services like that jet lag massage that I could already use -- not to mention a free daily champagne breakfast, a mid-afternoon tea, and canapé finger food in the evening. While I’m not a big nut for extracurricular activities that require me to go far from my temporary paradise, if you’re into water sports like windsurfing, boogie boarding, kayaking or waterskiing, these are built-in inclusions to your stay. The Crane Resort and Residences: By way of comparison, I took a look at the lower end of the spectrum with respect to cost for similar cheap Caribbean deals and found that the Crane Resort is offering vacation packages that start at around $700 for a three-night stay and run up to only $1,100 for the whole week. Again, we’re talking hotel, airfare and amenities included. The Crane Resort, which is on the southeast coast of Barbados in Christ Church, is a gorgeous complex perched on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean that offers two types of lodgings: historic hotel rooms and private residences. Want your own private infinity pool? Book a room on the ground floor and it’s yours. If you’re more adventurous and would prefer your own plunge pool, you can get your own by booking a two-room residence on one of the upper floors. I think I may be sold just on the basis of that personal infinity pool. If you’re looking for a deal that’ll give you a once-in-a-lifetime vacation experience without ruining you financially, jump on either of those above or keep an eye open for other cheap Caribbean vacations. With peak season in the Caribbean running from mid-December to mid-April, now’s the time to shop. Related resources Vince Font is a freelance writer born in Puerto Rico and currently escaped to Utah. When not dreaming of interstellar travel, he’s on the hunt for weird, wacky, and off-the-beaten-track vacation destinations. Next stop: The Lizzie Borden Bed and Breakfast.
