Great getaway

Great service and even better location. Hotel was overbooked which was annoying at first, but what can you do. We spent one night at the Breezes and it made us appreciate the Riu even more.

Excellent Escape

My husband and I visited the Riu for a few days to simply escape the chaos of reality. We were a little reluctant upon arrival due to reading other reviews. We were, however, pleasantly surprised. Yes, the hotel is a bit dated; renovations are already planned, however, and in progress. The staff and service provided were excellent. We didn't adventure outside of the resort due to time limitations. Our time was spent relaxing on the beach or sharing drinks at the pool bar. Overall the experience was well worth the money!

Relaxing Vacation Getaway

We stayed at RIU Paradise Resort for 6 nights (last week of July 2009). This was our first experience staying in an all-incliusive resort and was completely worth it especially in Bahamas. RIU is conveniently located right by one of the finest beaches with fine white sand and turquoise clear water with calm waves making in ideal and fairly safe for swimming and even snorkeling in 4-5 ft deep shallow waters close to shore. RIU All inclusive resort offered a fine choice for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks menu with a cheerful staff. RIU might be renovating their facility later this year. That would make it a better place. RIU also conducted a daily entertainment program making it fun for couples and families with kids.

Ferry accessible via next door Atlantis resort is a economical way to access Nassau downtown and Straw Market ($3 one way one person) Taxi fare from/to air-port 32$ one-way for 2 persons. Marine acquarium located in Atlantis resort can be viewed without buying the expensive $35 per person ticket.

Reunion in Paradise Island

We were celebrating a 50th birthday. All our family met from different locations. The Riu was wonderful. Staff are the nicest people. Food and drink are so well worth the price. All inclusive. Beach is beautiful. Just relaxed; did boating trips. Overall great trip. Place is going to be renovated needs updated rooms. Other than that we all had a wonderful time. Spirit Airline was my only complaint. Flight was fine; but confusion of gate time it took in between to go 1-1/2hr flight was awful. Should be direct flight from Tampa!

Good location

This was our second time at the Riu. Rooms are outdated, and smelled of smoke. 3 of 3 elevators were out of order. We had to use the service elevator. Same Lunch menu every day. Dinners were boring with little choice. Breakfast was the same every day. Pool was dirty most every day. Some of the staff members were not very friendly, because, they will either have a job or not after their renovation starting August 1,2009. Would I go there again - "not likely."

* The beds were hard and very uncomfortable. I asked twice for a foam mattress they had but never received it. The elevator wasn;t working for 2 days. The pool was dirty. The umbrellas for the pool, half were broken. The front desk people were rude. the bartender [...] was great. the waiters were very friendly and polote. Food was good.

TERRIBLE HOTEL

THE RIU AT THE BAHAMAS IS POORLY BUILT, THE ROOMS WERE SMALL, THERE WAS RUST IN THE BATHROOM. THERE WERE ANTS ON THE DRESSER. THE BED WAS UNCOMFORTABLE. THE ELEVATORS WERENT FUNCTIONING FOR THE DURATION OF OUR STAY. THEY RAN OUT OF ICE!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!! WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED BY ORBITZ THAT, THAT PARTICULAR RESORT WAS GOING UNDER CONSTRUCTION IN AUGUST. THE ONLY THING THAT WAS PLEASANT ABOUT THE STAY WAS THE STAFF. OVERALL I FEEL THAT MY APARTMENT LOOKS MORE LIKE A RESORT THAN RIU IN BAHAMAS!!! WE WERE VERY DISAPPOINTED!!

Best place on the Island

The best part about this hotel is you could plan activities outside the hotel and are fully assisted with every aspect, or just stay on premises and have a great time. The staff was always looking to make your stay enjoyable.
