"Safari in the Carribean"

This was a family trip with high expectations but to great disappointment I was let down with the service and disrespect that I received while staying at the Sheraton Resort at Cable Beach. 1st they did not provide excellent service from cleaning the room to the friendliness of the staff. The location is Ok but I left with definite feeling that I was not going to use this hotel ever again. The staff treated my family like we were bile.

Could have been a good vacation.

My sister and I went and used Orbitz for the booking of the shearton hotel. We paid the 996.00 so you can image how surprised we were to see at the end of the stay 12$ for a bellboy and 36 dollars a night for gratuties were added to our bill. Plus they had added 15 percent to all restaurants, drinks, etc. We are both senior citizens and the put us in a room that we had to walk three long corridors to get to. My sister is asmatic and has a breathing problem. Well we went down to the desk and complained about the bill and the manager ([...]) said he would work something out with us. My sister did not want a compromise she wanted, as well as I, that they remove the 36 dolllars a day. The finally (the next day said that Orbitz should have told you of all costs. He was willing to give us a credit for two nights of the 36 dollars plus the 12 dollars for the bell person we never saw. We pick up and pulled our own luggage. [...] said that we should inform you to return the other 72 dollars as they gave us credit against our bill and being that you should have informed us of all taxes anf gratuties it is your responsibilty to reimburse us of the other 72 dollars. I have been to the Bahamas for 25 years and have brought the hotel many customers being family or friends and have Orbitz before. I would appreciate you returning 72 dollars to me in good faith,. We were looking into another family vacation through Orbitz with about 25 people but we will wait until we see your reply.

Bad service, unacceptable prices

The hotel is charging outrageous mandatory tips for maid, pool, recreation activities, beach services (36$/day) even if you don't use some of them. As a result service is slow and unaceptable as everybody knows they are getting their tips anyway. Staff is rude and inconsiderate. There is everyday construction noise due to hotel repairs so instead of the peace and quiet you are looking for during a vacation getaway you will get five hours of gruelling hammer drill noise everyday. Rooms are clean and nice but you need to tip the maid on top of what the hotel is charging for tips. Dining options are extremely limited and expensive. If you want more choices than the pool grill (only hamburgers and a few other choices) and the hotel buffet style restaurant (pricey and mediocre food - better go to the Wyndham buffet which is cleaner and more organized)you need to take the bus and go downtown (last but at 7:00 pm). If you take a taxi add $34 cabfare to your dinner bill.

Awesome getaway

I had a good time on my vacation to Nasssau and staying at the Sheraton made it even better. The beach was awesome and staff was very friendly. I liked the fact that there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel that takes you to downtown for only $1.25 instead of paying 15 or 18 for a cab.

Great location

We paid for an oceanview room, but I think we were given a partial oceanview as I could only see the ocean when I was on our balcony. I should have said something, but couldn't be bothered as we were only there for 3 nights. Also, the maids did not resupply the soaps and lotion, or enough towels.

Beautiful hotel, horrible service!

When we first arrived we loved our view, we loved the rooms, they were nice & clean! We ate at their restaurant once because we refused to go back, they were so rude when we asked our eggs a certain way. They are just rude and it seems as if you are in their way and we are bothering them. We didn't not feel welcomed in the Bahamas by certain locals. In the market people were rude and in general not friendly at all. If the hotel would have nicer staff we would have loved it. But we will not be recommend this hotel to any family or friends.

One of the best hotels ever

The hotel was exactly like the pictures that describe it on their Web site. None of the pools were crowded or rowdy; the beach was pristine (barring the occassional gatorade bottle left behind near the chairs, likely from overnight swimmers.) The location was close to fast-food; a grocery store; a bakery, down a small foothill from the No. 10 bus; there were always cabs available and unbelieveably courteous staff members. What we also liked was all the gratuities for the maids and bellmen and for the bar were included in the price so you didn't have to rummage through your pockets every time someone served you. The beach had kayaks, though you really couldn't go far with them; snorkeling gear and was close enough to the Windham hotel that you could use their beaches and pools as well. The casino, though small, was a nice treat for a late-night drink and there was a restaurant that was open past 2 a.m. in the Windham as well. The great thing is you just walked down the corridor and down an escalator and you could be there in a few minutes. The only draw back is that everything closed down early, by 11 p.m. and there was no room service after that as well, so really the only choice was the Windam for a late night snack. No snack machines or soda machines either. The rooms were cleaned spotless and organized. There was plenty of room to wander or to sit and every night, except for Sunday, there was either a band or a DJ to keep you entertained and you didn't have to sit at the bar. You could just relax in the lobby. Lots and lots and lots of brides. This was not a "party" hotel; more like a honeymoon hotel and could definately be some place I would bring my young children. Plenty of shaded pools and a level decline into the surf (no shells or hard rocks, which was also nice).

Nightlife tip: In Hotel

If you like sitting at the bar or outside, at the beach or pool and WANT to be alone, you can, because there is hardly anybody there at night. So if you're looking for nightlife, try one of the other hotels or go into Paradise Island. There was only senor frogs, from what we had a chance to see in Nassau, and frankly, unless you're between 21 and 25, watching everybody get drunk with and have poured on tequila, isn't the funnest.
