Initial impressions good but......

Our room was comfortable with good views. Staff responses to minor faults/omissions was prompt , such as lack of towels and a toilet blockage. Our return visit whilst on overnight transit was less satisfactory as we had been double-booked,the alternative accomodation could not be opened due to a lock malfunction and we had a protracted wait whilst this was sorted. It was late at night,we were tired and hungry. Our mood was not improved on entering the room to find no kettle to even make a cup of tea, plus only one set of towels-again. A call to reception resulted in advice to use a saucepan to heat water and the promise of more towels. They never arrived so we retired most dissatisfied. The resort appears to be lacking in adequate staffing levels and it has a somewhat neglected air regarding up-to-date equipment levels I wish to stress that the staff we met,in particular Cameron on reception, were as helpful as possible, but the load appeared too much at times. I regret to say that I would be reluctant to recommend this resort to my friends for the reasons given above. This is a shame as with minimum improvement our experience would have been so much better.

nice time

It's kind of far from downtown Nassau but hopping on a bus doesn't take much effort (just be mindful that they stop running around 6) The staff was very nice and the rooms are cozy, something like being at home. The chef there was definitely the hilight of being at the hotel, Cleveland was the man :)

Fabulous & romantic trip!

The staff is so friendly, everyone including security says hi. We even got an upgrade to the rooms with a jacuzzi which is the best way to stay at Sandyport! 2 bathrooms and a full kitchen! We went to the grocery store to buy some breakfast supplies. Note it gets pricey, so stick to basics like eggs, toast--we bought thin sliced whole wheat bagels--butter, milk, butter, fruit; Sandyport provides every kitchen accessory you'll need! They now have a $10 breakfast by the pool, where you can get eggs/toast or pancakes/eggs/sausage or bacon--just don't ask the chef for fruit or egg whites--unless you want a witty retort! Take advantage of the hammocks! About the only slight disadvantage is the distance from night entertainment at Cable Beach hotels as you'll have to cab it since the bus/jitneys stop running shortly after 6:00 PM. And it'd sure be nice if there was a continuous sidewalk to the P00p (I got a flagged with 'inappropriate language' for the actual spelling) Deck over the bridge but again these 2 things are beyond the control of SP.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

The best "secret" and deal in the area is the Sivananda Yoga Retreat on PI, $10 get you a 5 minute boat ride AND a class, another $10 gets you a just as awesome vegetarian meal. Late Nov/early Dec are low season so we had practically everything to ourselves, including the pool! For pure romance, scooter over to Clifton Heritage National Park and walk the beaches. Bring a towel and a backpack with some picnic goodies for a time you soon won't forget, we literally had the beach to ourselves and we were there for 2 hours. Oh, when shopping at the grocery stores watch out for expiration dates. Apparently the stores aren't regulated to remove expired goodies from the shelves. And if you are a tall or big person, for the pool slide, you have to give yourself a big push and lay your whole body back and down. You'll make it the whole way!

Nice Retreat.

Overall the experience was good with a few exceptions. 1. We were told that there was now internet access, but given no further details about how it works. 2. When I tried to use the common area workstation to check e-mail I was told that I had to end my session (only after a couple of minutes time had passed) when another person sat down in a chair behind me (as if to wait to get on-line). However, I had been waiting for a couple of days during my stay. When I saw someone at the terminal I went away and would come back to check later. When I inquired I was told that there was a fifteen (15) minute limit when someone is waiting. I did not have a chance to challenge this any further during my stay. I will and advise anyone else to do so in the future. 3. Also, for the future I would not stay in anything less than a room with a kitchenette. Groceries are within walking distance and would help on expenditures for meals if you prepare some yourself.

There is an excellent restaurant on the property, but as with most dining in the islands it is a bit pricey.

Wedding Anniversary

We booked this hotel for a 1 night stay travelling over from holiday from Orlando. The staff on reception were great, they gave us a free upgrade, and because their was an intial problem with our room (bed had not been made), they upgraded us again and gave us a free bottle of champagne to enjoy in our room. The hotel was very quiet and our room was spacious with a king size bed and jacuzzi, with self catering facilities, balcony overlooking the lake and a large lounge. Each room had seperate air conditioning, which we needed, because we had bad weather overnight, so turned chilly. The bus service into town was outside the entrance but stops at 7.00pm, but is value at $1.25.

Very nice and quite location

Very nice location, a little away from downtown and cable beach (which was nice, as it was not too crowded and there were buses every 5 minutes to go downtown or to any place of interest). The hotel has two beautiful and quite beaches and a pool, and there are several restaurants closeby. Very friendly staff.

Accomodation and recreation and relaxati

The hotel Staff was very corteous. We arrived about two hours before check-in time but our room was already preapred. Everything was very clean in the room, we also had a microwave oven, coffee maker we were able to prepare breakfast in the room. We used the pool several times also the Sandyport beach. The location was very convenint we paid $1.25 to get to the downtown Nassau in about 25-30 minutes . We were able to go to ATLANTIS and had a nice tour of the Aquarium and spent some time in Cabbage beach. We set aside one day for Harbour Island to get a dip in the pink sand beach. We used different buses all at $1.25 to vist differebnt areas in New Providence -Nassau. I would defintely recommend this resort to anyone on a limited budget.

Diamond in the rough

Went down to Bahamas for a friends wedding at Sandals. I booked Sandyport a couple night before i left. Place was clean, hot water, friendly staff, etc... no frills, but no disappointing. Hotel is also across the street from the Beach Club cafe, or Beach club restaurant, which is some of the best food, and nicest places to eat on the Island. Highly recommended, and will definately return.
