Not impressive

I'm neither vying for any complimentary items nor looking to have anyone fired. In fact, I'm hoping you will play a role in improving service so that jobs at the Hilton in Nassau will be salvage. I'm not sure how this Hilton received a 4 star rating, but from my experience, I rate it at 2.

My tip... stay in Atlantis or any place on Paridise Island. It's worth the price difference. The staff is MUCH friendlier and EVERYTHING is accessible right on Paridise Island. My hope for its residents is that Nassau will step up to the challenge of attracting visitors that are not on cruise ships.

Short Getaway

Great hotel with a great staff. Though meals are expensive, hotel is centrally located and many, more reasonable, options are available.

Bahamian Kitchen is a small restaurant on Church Street that is a place where the locals dine. Great food and warmth for the price.

Fun in the sun HONEYMOON!

It was our first time to the bahamas or any island in the Carribean and we absolutely fell in love with it! I wanted to get away and relax in a hotel that had a beach just steps away with everything needed close by and that is exactly what i got! To go eat we were steps away from good restaurants like Senor Frogs, and if you are on a budget Mcdonalds was right next door and a few other fast food restaurants were walking distance. We went to paradise island on a ferry which was only three dollars and to get to that ferry we walked to it since it was such close proximity. Shopping was great to because again it was walking distance away! Me and my husband came on our honeymoon and could not be more pleased with our stay! Our room was always clean, the beach was perfect and private, the staff was very nice friendly and welcoming (for instance everytime you went through the front doors there was always someone there to open the door for you and its those small details that makes a company that much better), it was always peaceful and quiet, the gym was the perfect size, there was always enough space in the lobby to just chill...it was perfect! I highly recommend this hotel because of its locality, cleanliness, friendliness, and overall quality. I just can't emphasize enough on how perfect the location was!

Stay at the British Colonial Hilton

My overall stay at the British Colonial Hilton was very nice. However, when my boyfriend and I arrived at the hotel the reservationist stated that they over-booked our room and gave us a "garden view" instead of the "harbor view" which is what we paid for. However, the manager was very accomodating in trying to get us a nicer room. He upgraded us to a suite which was very nice. We didn't realize until the end of our trip that we received a "free daily breakfast" with our stay at the Hilton. The only thing I did question was the additional fees at the hotel which included the daily surcharges and the automatic gratuity fees for the maid service for cleaning our room. Our overall stay was nice, but pricier than what we had anticipated, so plan on bringing extra money.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

There is plenty of shopping and eateries in the downtown area of Nassau. If you are interested in going to the "Atlantis" hotel you will need to take a cab ride to the hotel. The cost was $12.00 each way. Walking to the "Atlantis" hotel would not be recommended since it was too far and some of the downtown area was a little run down at night.

Nice Hotel in the city

We had a blast. Everyone was great. We had an early flight and arrived at 9 a.m. and they let us check into our room and by 9:30 I was laying on the beach. What is better than that. First time ever. Rooms were spotlessly clean.

Best place for non-resort people

Close to shopping and all the non-resort type things. The beach was really nice as was the pool.

Quick weekend getaway

I was immediately greeted by the staff and they removed my luggage from the shuttle. They were courteous and directed me to the front desk for checking in. Everything went smoothly from there. I enjoyed the staff, especially Phillip who seemed to work everywhere in the hotel. I had a problem with the air conditioning in my room and they fixed it to my satisfaction. The room, although on the small side, was very clean and decorated in a contemporary style. The hotel food was satisfactory. I ate there the entire weekend. The service in the Portifino Restaurant was a little lacking. I had to request cream for my coffee and look for the person to pay for my bill each time that I went. The grounds were well kept. The bar was comfortable and the staff was willing to personalize my drinks and make them the way I liked them. The hotel was quiet and comfortable and was perfect for a quiet getaway. This was not a hotel for a party experience. Although there were children, they were well-mannered and monitored by their parents. My daughter and I wanted to spend a quiet weekend celebrating her new job. That was exactly what we got. To sum things up, I/we truly enjoyed our weekend getaway and would recommend the British Colonial Hilton (Nassau) any day.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Take a short walk to the straw market and don't forget to negotiate your best buy. We saw the same pair of earrings and some sellers were not willing to negotiate at all. We purchased earrings for $4 that sold elsewhere for $8.
