Outstanding setting, terrible amenties

Beautiful setting; miles of white sand beach, aquamarine water, spacious property. However, the "all inclusive" amenities were so bad we left the facility for meals. Bar was nothing but local rum that had been watered and local beer that was more like ginger ale, dining room was like a high school cafeteria with bad food. Facility had the remains of a magnificent building but maintenance was very, very poor. Uncut lawns, overgrown garden, broken light fixtures. One bed in the room was fine, other bed was completely broken down and could not be slept in. Hotel is part of a vacation club that clearly is focused on providing the minimum listed features at the minimum cost. If you are looking for peaceful time on a spacious beautiful beach and water front at a reasonable price, this is the place. But if you want a full service vacation, go elsewhere.

Depends on what you are looking for

My husband and I just returned after a week at this resort. It's a good thing we were there only to get out of the cold weather..the food was not good. The staff was not friendly. The room was not clean. But the weather and the beaches were incredible...so we overlooked a lot. I would go back to Bahamas but not this resort..I guess you get what you pay for. Someone needs to tell that staff to smile and be friendly I felt I was imposing. The food was bland and the same thing day after day...lot of rice and french fries. :(

Simple, Sweet Escape.

I had a great time at the hotel. The staff was super sweet! The amenities were terrific, lots of activities to take part in. I enjoyed the gym, and was able to do my laundry the morning before my departure, which was convenient for me. Also just ask and the staff will accommodate you. Remember to tip, these people work really hard. I would definitely go again, it was the perfect escape from NYC. :-)

The only problem was the food, but I found some things that were suitable, like the fruits, and vegetables. The food was cafeteria style it reminded me of "school lunch" a bit. I strongly suggest getting to breakfast and lunch early, because you have more options that way. Do not try the Asian restaurant it is beyond terrible. Also the late night Pizza from 10pm-2am is yummy!

Effordable Vacation in paradise

We had an ocean view room and we were literally right on the beach. We had the most awesome view right from our bed! We were looking for a relaxing beach vacation, we didn't want the hassel of leaving our hotel and finding restaruants, Viva Windham provided everything we wanted. The buffet meals were repeatative, but they were certainly adequate. We have a lot of favorite restaurants at home in the cold and snow. I'd much rather pay for an awesome beach and snokeling vacation than for 4 star dining. A great value for the money we spent!

Make dinner reservations at one of the 2 restaurants the minute you arrive for each night you are in the resort. The restaurants fill up fast and the food in the restaurants is much better than the buffet at dinner.

Couples Getaway

Overall we had a great time but my credit card was compromised on the first day and the only place it was used was at the front desk at check in. Thank goodness for free WIFI on the resort as I got email notifications right away from my credit card company and was able to take care of it immediately before it ruined by vacation.

A typical 3 star hotel

Wow w-What do people want-the complaints ,I'm sure , are from people with 4 o5 star appetites and 3 star budgets. This was a very relaxing hotel with an exceptionally friendly staff. The buffet food was edible but nothing special . The 2 specialty restaurants were excellent. There is no pool or beach service but that is to be expected. This would NOT be a place for a honeymoon. The drinks were very good and the room was very comfortable with a great ocean view. If there is any complaint it would be for the shows put on by the staff at night. Most resorts bring in professionals or have a dedicated entertainment staff-not here-rank amateurs -very poorly executed. Aside from that I had a very relaxing and pleasant time here.

Cloudy and rainy but relaxing

Though the weather was bad, we had an overall good time. The buffet was surprisingly accommodating to us as vegans. The ambiance was much less vibrant than other resorts I've been to, but it's possible that's due to the time of year and/or weather. Drinks were good, and as strong as you like them. The staff was... mixed; some were very nice and helpful, others not so much. Don't be fooled by the recent "renovations" into thinking the place looks any better than before: my understanding is they were simply upgrading under the hood (pipes or something of the such). We had a good view of the sea from our regular, non-oceanview room. The beach was very nice on the day and a half of sunshine we did get, if a bit algae...y. The Asian restaurant, Bamboo, was terrible. We didn't try the Italian restaurant as they had no vegan options. The activities were nice and plentiful. The shows were... a cut below the quality I experienced at other resorts, though that may just be those others being great rather than this one being all that bad.

Dining tip: In Hotel

The buffet offers many simple options, making it very easy to get creative with combinations. For example, there was always a pasta and tomato sauce dish, to which you can easily toss in all sorts of vegetables (onions, green beans, eggplant, carrots...) and some fresh ground pepper; or my favourite recipe, fresh garlic toast: slice some fresh bread, drench both sides in some of that garlic-infused olive oil, grill in the panini press for fifteen seconds, then grind some black pepper on top. (When you finish your pasta, dip into the remaining sauce.)

Christmas Trip

This hotel is run down and below average. We had mechanical problems, reported them and they were not fixed. Food very bland unless you went to special restaurants which then was good. Commode did not work, ac quit working, no towels, bar supplies non existent, entertainment ok but nothing to work with, safe was to be included but was charged and told to pay "cash" Will not go back or recommend to others

Much less that expected

After experiencing other all inclusive resorts, this one leaves a LOT to be desired. Far away from other island activities, room maintenance marginal, food barely warm, loud music late at night and staff very unhelpful.

Old and Damp

Very old property that's off the beaten path. Food in the buffet was average at best and the ala carte restaurants were not as good as the buffet. Not up to the standards associated with the Wyndham name. I wouldn't go back even if it were half price. Moldy n damp rooms, Very difficult to sleep comfortably due to the dampness. Wouldn't recommend to anyone at any price.
