Great value
The bedroom was huge with a comfy bed and a sofa. The shower room was excellent with a great shower. A lamp was broken and the staff replaced it straight away. Parking was $15 a night, which was excellent value compared to other prices for parking the the city.

Comfortable stay in downtown Melbourne
The checking was smooth and the staff were efficient and friendly. The room was a good size, clean and quiet. There was a problem with the pay per view but that's about the only negative. The value compared to other hotels in the area was quite good and it was walking distance to everything down town. I'd definately stay there again

Great Hotel
One of my favorite short-stay hotels in Melbourne. Clean, great rooms, and a good location both for access into Central Melbourne and for access from the Airport. We used the place as we were in/out of Melbourne while transiting to the Great Ocean Road to Adelaide, to Sydney and then back to Melbourne. Getting back to this hotel after a week of motels was a bit of a relief. Not too expensive too! Bit of a walk down to Southbank but Elizabeth/Swanston etc. are all within easy walking distance. Skybus from the Airport drops you off about a 5-7 minute walk from here. Any down-sides? Well, I'd question the validity of paying more for the City View rooms. Rooms are exactly the same and for only a marginally better view than the 'normal' rooms. Docklands view rooms have quite striking views out - certainly more interesting than the City view - but not convinced they're worth the premium over the normal rooms.

Great location
The hotel is conveniently located, so perfect for a short stay; it's just a few blocks walk from Southern Cross Station for the airport shuttle bus, a block from Coles supermarket, a short walk to the docklands for cafes and inexpensive shopping, and is in what Aussies call the CBD (Central Business District). The free central tram route and free tourist bus also stop close by. We found the receptionist staff very helpful, they had lots of info on day trips from Melbourne and were happy to book for us. Our room was a decent size and the bathroom was clean and everything worked. Even though it was centrally located on a busy street, we couldn't hear any traffic noise. One downside is that the hotel charges A$3.95 per hour for wifi use, which should be offered free in a 4-star hotel at the prices charged for rooms. This seems to be the practice of many Australian hotels.

Short walk from hotel
You probably couldn't find a better location for a hotel for sightseeing around the city. We walked everywhere, including along the river to the Royal Botanic Gardens (definitely worth a visit), and when we were tired just jumped on one of the free public transport services offered in Melbourne.

Good location
Good location near the Southern Cross Railway station, bus transfer to airport. Short walk to the free Melbourne tour bus stop. Coles super market is across the street. Complaints about burnt out bulb, and non-working iron were ignored, although we stayed for six nights. Room not cleaned one day.

No frills comfortable hotel
I spent 2 nights on a business trip. Room pleasant but view onto concrete wall, bed very comfortable, buffet breakfast somewhat limited for a 4* rating - but only charged $15. Clean sauna/ pool was good to unwind after a day's work. Would stay there again. Good value for money for a central location.

Great Location
Hotel is right smack across Spencer Street from Southern Cross Station & airport Skybus Terminal. Station houses useful stuff, including ANZ ATM, Coles supermarket & Liquorland Express store. Hotel rooms are modern and clean. Great bathroom with super shower. Front desk staff a little detached & aloof -- for example, when I asked about a day tour to the Great Ocean Road, they basically just nodded towards a rack of brochures, without any particular interest or insight. Then later, when a big bunch of high school kids were hanging out and loudly socializing in the hall on the 8th floor, I called the front desk, so somebody from the hotel would come tell the kids to get out of the hallway. But instead, the front desk seemed puzzled about why I was calling them, and they started quizzing me about why the kids where in the hall. Duh -- I had to tell them that instead of asking ME about the situation, THEY needed to go find out what the commotion was all about for THEMSELVES. So aside from the staff, if it's basically a decent room you are interested in, this could easily be the place.

Short walk from hotel
The fastest way to get to the hotel fom the airport Skybus gate in Southern Cross Station is to IGNORE the posted sign and arrows for Spencer Street, and instead head towards gate 69, where there's a better exit onto Spencer Street that's much closer to the hotel -- as well as the Coles & Liquorland.

I would stay here again
The room I stayed in was a single and a perfect size for one person. The amenities were basic, but I had not complaints. The bed was comfortable. The hotel is located about a block and a half from the subway and less than half a block from the nearest trolley. A grocery store is located across the street.
