Tropical luxury resort a short walk from Eagle Beach
This spot has been recently taken over by the Tropicana and offers loads of amenities within walking distance of Eagle Beach. Kids will love the wild water slide, while adults can place bets at the casino. Guests seeking tranquility can find it in the more atmospheric pool across the property, with a waterfall and Jacuzzi tub. USPTR- and USRSA-certified tennis professionals are on hand to help with that swing, and should one be interested in a few extra calories, a Dunkin Donuts and Baskin Robbins shop is on-site at the Tropicana Aruba Resort & Casino.
Highlights
  • Three pools, a water slide and a waterfall
  • Casino
  • Tennis pros on-site
  • De Palm Tours office on-site
  • Guest rooms at the Tropicana Aruba Resort & Casino come with Jacuzzi tubs
Rooms
Each of the 362 sun-drenched suites at the Tropicana Aruba Resort & Casino come equipped with a Jacuzzi tub, kitchenette, separate living room and a private balcony or patio. Rooms also have two television sets, each with an expanded cable lineup. The adults-only deluxe rooms have an extra-large wraparound balcony and come furnished with a love seat, wing chair and two-chair dining set for in-room entertaining.
Recreation
Two pools are on the Tropicana Aruba Resort & Casino property -- one with a wild water slide and smaller kiddy pool, another with a tranquil, burbling waterfall and Jacuzzi tub. Vacationers can have fun playing on the slots and tables at the casino. Tennis is a house favorite, and USPTR- and USRSA-certified tennis professionals are on hand, ready to lead seminars or arrange play (equipment rental is available). Five jogging or walking trails are tucked away on lush spots across the grounds -- keep an eye out for friendly iguanas. A new fitness center has treadmills, elliptical, upright and recumbent bikes, and a three-arm workout station. A day spa offers relaxing treatments. A representative from De Palm Tours is in the lobby and can help plan island excursions from luxury shopping to SNUBA to rugged Jeep tours.

Good value for the money

No this place was not 5 star quality. However for the price it was more then comfortable and we see they are making improvements. The rooms decor are a little older but everything worked, the place was clean and kept clean. They are making improvements daily and I see a new restaurant going in on property . Compared to the price of the more modern places this is the best deal on the island.

Romantic Getaway

Our stay at the Tropicana Hotel was very relaxing and comfortable. Service was outstanding and the help very friendly. Was nice to have the beach in walking distance. Restaurants were all very good and close at hand. We are very excited to return in 2014!

Lots of construction, no activities, room furniture in poor shape, poor quality restaurant and casino, and did not use free coupons at casino because we did not feel safe. Staff was not friendly and when the breaker went off in our room it took and hour to respond. We will not go back.

Perfect relaxation

A roomy air conditioned suite with a balcony and a fully equipped kichenette. An extremely friendly staff. The location of the hotel is excellent: a short walk to a fabulous beach and not far from Oranjestad. It was our first visit to Aruba and we fell in love with the island. We will most certainly come back and when we do, we will stay at the Tropicana again.

Clean, large rooms. Hotel under renovations

The tropicanca is 4 buildings that used to be part of La Cabana (I know this cause "La Cabana" is in raised letters on the bathtub). The rooms are extremely large with full kitchen (no oven). The bedrooms are separate from the living space. Nice balcony overlooking pool. Everything was clean and confortable, but dated for sure. Pool area was nice, all buildings are remodeled or being remodeled. Maybe a five minute walk to the beach which was beautiful and a great beach for walkers. Definitely a good value for the money, but not the Ritz!

El Gaucho was a great, reasonable downtown location for steaks. About a $10 cab ride to get there. Flying Fishbones was a waterfront (dine on the beach) restaurant with really good food and ambience, but plan +$70 for R/T cab costs. High rise district is about a 20-30 minute walk with great bars and dining.

no good

the place is very old . needs a renovation badly. i booked and paid for a room with full kitchen . they tried putting me in a smaller room with a kitchenette and it took me more than one hour to finally get what i paid for. i would not recommend this hotel to a friend. it looks very diff rant than the pictures you see on line.the bed was anything but comfortable the mattress must have been at least 20years old or it felt that way.

The hotel needs more upgrade, still under construction. A little far from the beach. You need to walk through another hotel to get to the beach. The furniture needs upgrade as well as the rooms.

Great location but needs remodeling

Location was great. It is only a 2-3 minute walk from Eagle Beach and the bus line. On bus you are only about 5-10 minutes away from the high rise hotels to the north and downtown to the south. About 10-15 minutes from airport depending on traffic. A new supermarket also opened just a block away so it is convenient if you are looking for groceries. Rooms are a bit out of date (like 70's) and the kitchen appliances need to be replaced. Bed and sofa needs updating too. Wifi access is not free and it is a real pain because it is contracted out through a 3rd party service and you have to key in a code from an access card for every device you want to use..i.e. switching from your laptop to your cell phone... and if it is droid it is even more of a pain to switch because you will have to go to the front desk so they can make a call to tech support every single time. Connection also keeps dropping and the signal is only fair. Staff was friendly but not very efficient... extremely slow at everything they do. Not much option for food services at this hotel either. Had to go across the parking lot to hotel La Cabana or other nearby hotels.

Weekend Getaway

This hotel is average and needs some activities for the guests especially the kids and entertainment. The beach is amazing however the 10 minute walk to the beach stinks. It is a relaxing environment and is not where all the night life is but you can get on the bus for $1.50 and go down to the high rise and shops for the night.
