Lots of upgrades at this recently renovated Palm Beach gem
This Westin Aruba Resort, on 7.5 acres of white sands in Palm Beach, encased by lush gardens and swaying palm trees, recently had a $22 million renovation. Guestrooms and suites have been upgraded with new furnishings and amenities including 32-inch flat screen TVs, marble baths, custom bath products and pillow-topped beds. The resort is home to a 12,000 square-foot Casablanca Casino, which received 200 new state-of-the-art slot machines. The 8,500 square-foot pool received new teak furniture. For breakfast, check out the new Bon Bini Cafe.
Highlights
  • Multi-million-dollar renovation site-wide
  • Kids Club for ages 4-12
  • Seven restaurants and lounges on-site
  • The 2,500 square-foot Intermezzo Spa offers a comprehensive menu of spa services
  • Wi-Fi throughout resort
Rooms
Marble baths, pillow-topped mattresses, stocked mini-bars and fully loaded entertainment centers have been upgraded recently as part of the $22 million resort-wide renovation at the Westin Aruba Resort. Modern wood furniture and sleek flat screen TVs are in all rooms. Floor-to-ceiling windows are extra-stunning when paired with pool or ocean views.
Dining
Guests can enjoy breakfast or a light lunch poolside at the Terrace.  At Azul, chefs prepare intricate four-course dinners that are meant to be shared with a loved one on the beach during sunset. Try and resist doing an impression of Bogart while at Rick's Café, which is outfitted with comfortable teak and rattan armchairs.
Recreation
A Kids Club offers scheduled activities, and the Little Chef program allows kids ages 6 and up to prepare a meal (with expert supervision) for their happy parents. The Westin Aruba Resort fitness center provides ample opportunities to elevate one's heart rate – as do the azure ocean views one sees while snorkeling or fishing. Pro guides will lead trips to do either. Feel the wind while sailing, or experience another kind of thrill at the casino, which recently got new slot machines.

Pool under construction. Stay here if you like hearing jackhammers.

Stayed at the Westin from 9/9/08 to 9/16/08. Was told by desk clerk that the jackhammer being used would only be heard for a couple of days This went on for 5 days.

Worst Experience Ever

Rooms were dirty, air conditioner was incredibly loud, concierge was not helpful, and the people at the front desk were incredibly rude. Further, we were on our honeymoon, which I told them at the time of the reservation, and the only room they had available for us had double beds in it. Their consolation - a $50 coupon to use at the restaurant for breakfast the next morning, which we only had to wait in line for 50 minutes before getting a table. I wouldn't stay at this hotel even if they offered me a trip for free. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Hyatt - 10x nicer. Despite being paid in full, we would have moved to the Hyatt during our stay if they had availability.

Would not recommend

Beautiful lobby, but thats about it. Old rooms, dirty hallways, not the friendlist staff. Small beach and very difficult to rent a palapa for the day. No free palapas on the beach. Definitely would not stay at this hotel again.

Time for a facelift and class in customer service

I've stayed at many Westin's and have always been very satisfied This hotel has all the Westin amenities like the awesome bed and unwind amenities - but there was just something lacking. Service was average at best and the hotel staff was aloof and somewhat removed. That aside wouldn't merit this subpar review- but the hotel nickel and dimed the guests. A friend staying at the hotel put his daughter room service provided bottel in the mini fridge each night - - at check out was surprised to see a $5 curcharge per night for use of the mini fridge! For a higher end resort - - this was truly unacceptable.

Theres a great place for happy hour and lunch just a short walk down the beach on a pier. Great sandwiches and way more affordable than the cafe at the hotel.

Good ~ should have been great

Relaxed on the Beach and at the Pool, Dined out at a different restaurant every night. Yes,there was something missing, there was no waitress service around the Pool, and the Bartenders at the pool bar itself were horrible. After 20 minutes of waiting for a drink,at an empty bar, you had to beg them for a drink. The room didn't live up to the expectations of other Westins we have stayed at.

Nice getaway

My husband and I went for our wedding anniversary and an event at a close by resort. Check in was quick and easy. Once to our room I opened the amenity fridge and the previous guests were nice enough to leave their leftover food in the fridge, which stunk up our whole room. When I called to have someone take care of this problem the lady I spoke with was not helpful and somewhat rude. They came and removed the food, but the smell stayed with us for our entire vacation. The room itself was nothing special but the bed was comfortable. In the bathroom, the bathtub was peeling. Taking a bath would not have been an option and it did not give me a felling that it was clean. The restaurants at the hotel were great. However room service food was not very good and they were at the time we were there not offering any late night options. Our room overlooked the pool area and there was always something going on at the pool that was loud in our room. We were woken up several times by bingo numbers being called out or morning aqua aerobics and one night there was a private event with a horrible band that went on until 11 pm. I loved Aruba and the beaches were amazing, but I would not stay here again.

I attended my cousin's wedding. A clean room without the dust and dirt. The hotel restaurant's were quite expensive also. The beaches are very beautiful with white sand and blue seas.

disappointed with hotel

My fiance and I traved from 12-26-09 through New Years. Although we LOVE Aruba, we were very disappointed with the westin. Yes, the bed was very comfortable, but the sheets were stained and the room we paid for was supposed to be on or above the tenth floor (we ended up on the 9th). The beach was very crowded and you had to pay upwards of $50.00 per day just to reserve a shady spot under a small "hut". The service was just average. We often had to wait for lounge chairs and towels. The hotel did not appear "newly renovated" as described. Not as nice as other Westins. Besides the hotel, we had a wonderful trip! We suggest the Sunset Pirate Sail and the ABC jeep tour. New Years in Aruba was amazing, with spectacular fireworks!

Exaggerated claims or rip off

We reserved and paid for a premium oceanview room with a king bed. When we checked in, the desk clerk insisted that we had a partial oceanview room. I showed our receipt for the premium room and had to find a way for her to get a copy before she decided to offer a better room but could only get 2 double beds. We were given on room on the 10th floor (guestrooms are on floors 5-18) with a view of the ocean over the parking lot, construction debris, and neighboring hotel. The balconies are very small - room for 2 small chairs and 1 sq. ft. table which had to be moved to get onto the balocony. One open air public area for dining or drinks. Others are in enclosed lobby areas. Location is ok. Housekeeping staff, bellmen, and serving staff were all great.

Soenchi's Aruban Cuisine. Really good food, great personnel, nice decor. We went twice in one week and enjoyed both meals immensely.
