Lots of upgrades at this recently renovated Palm Beach gem
This Westin Aruba Resort, on 7.5 acres of white sands in Palm Beach, encased by lush gardens and swaying palm trees, recently had a $22 million renovation. Guestrooms and suites have been upgraded with new furnishings and amenities including 32-inch flat screen TVs, marble baths, custom bath products and pillow-topped beds. The resort is home to a 12,000 square-foot Casablanca Casino, which received 200 new state-of-the-art slot machines. The 8,500 square-foot pool received new teak furniture. For breakfast, check out the new Bon Bini Cafe.
Highlights
  • Multi-million-dollar renovation site-wide
  • Kids Club for ages 4-12
  • Seven restaurants and lounges on-site
  • The 2,500 square-foot Intermezzo Spa offers a comprehensive menu of spa services
  • Wi-Fi throughout resort
Rooms
Marble baths, pillow-topped mattresses, stocked mini-bars and fully loaded entertainment centers have been upgraded recently as part of the $22 million resort-wide renovation at the Westin Aruba Resort. Modern wood furniture and sleek flat screen TVs are in all rooms. Floor-to-ceiling windows are extra-stunning when paired with pool or ocean views.
Dining
Guests can enjoy breakfast or a light lunch poolside at the Terrace.  At Azul, chefs prepare intricate four-course dinners that are meant to be shared with a loved one on the beach during sunset. Try and resist doing an impression of Bogart while at Rick's Café, which is outfitted with comfortable teak and rattan armchairs.
Recreation
A Kids Club offers scheduled activities, and the Little Chef program allows kids ages 6 and up to prepare a meal (with expert supervision) for their happy parents. The Westin Aruba Resort fitness center provides ample opportunities to elevate one's heart rate – as do the azure ocean views one sees while snorkeling or fishing. Pro guides will lead trips to do either. Feel the wind while sailing, or experience another kind of thrill at the casino, which recently got new slot machines.

Aruba/Westin Survey; Sept 2010

This was our 3rd trip to Aruba and love the Island and location of all the hotels. A sidewalk connects each hotel and is well lit. Very safe for everyone. The only complaint for this particular hotel; was the smell in the hall ways (8th) floor; real nasty septic smell and parts of the beach/walkway had a simuliar smell. It rained daily & the road flooded with 4' of water; made walking places a bit difficult.

Very nice spot

The westin is one of the smaller hotels located at thg south west end of the High rise section. Great beach, nice view to the sunset over the water. Location is within walking distance of several shops and restaurants. Bus service downtown is convenient. A very nice place to vacation.

A Great Time for All!

The hotel was well situated and accommodating. We toured most of the island via rent-a-car and saw the underwater sea life by snorkeling. The best recommended beach to go to for the day is Baby Beach. We don't recommend going to Senor Frogs at all; while they are very hospitable, the food is less than zero. Jolly Pirate snorkeling tours promises a fun time for all!

Wonderful hotel

Hotel was beautiful and every room overlooked the ocean. The food was amazing and super expensive, so the all-inclusive plan was well worth it. I would highly recommend this hotel!

nice retreat!

Upon checking in and finding out the hotel didn't have our reservation [...] they went back through reservations dept and finally found our reservation.Manager did supply a free round of drinks and after getting straighted out, they did upgrade our room to an ocean view. However another "snag" was the trip was booked using 1 charge card but getting 2 rooms. After providing 2 seperate charge cards, for incidentials, the staff kept refusing the name on one of the rooms and insisted we use the name that was used to book the trip. This caused much confusion but finally manager supposedly changed name and did offer a free dinner/lunch.

When in Aruba, everyone eats late, at least for our standards, reservations from 7:30 /8:00 are recommended. Westin resturants were excellent

I enjoyed my stay at The Westin very much. I attended a wedding at a nearby resort and the location of the resort was great. The service was exceptional. Great floorplan and access to beach. Will stay at The Westin the next time I am visiting Aruba.

Westin Aruba

Our experience at the Westin Aruba was overall very positive. We spent most of our time at the pool and beach. Chairs were easily accessible at the pool, however, it was difficult to obtain palapas at the beach. One needed to go down to the towel hut as early as 6:00 a.m. in order to reserve. We also felt that the pool-side chairs could have used umbrellas. The sun was pretty intense and it would have been nice to have umbrellas in the chair. One of the main reasons we chose Westin Aruba was because it is advertised as a smoke-free hotel. I observed at least 3 people each day smoking and not once did I see a staff member ask them to refrain from smoking. At times, I watched as staff members walked past the smoking guests and did not acknowledge. This was a bit upsetting. The restaurants at the hotel were all very good. Breakfast buffet was plentiful, as was lunch at the Terrace. My husband and I enjoyed dinners at each of the 4 restaurants at Westin Aruba. All were delicious but at times the wait staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. I highly recommend the all-inclusive package as we saved a great deal of money. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely return again to Aruba as well as the Westin resort.

The pool was disappointing....

The pool looks worn out and needs updating, but the beach was amazing and clean. You will not need water shoes! It was extremely windy, so be prepared to be sprayed by sand. The room was beautiful and we got upgraded the first night b/c the a/c was making a loud noise. We loved all the birds and enjoyed them up close and personal. The prices for soda in the gift shop were very reasonable...about the price you'd pay in a gas station. We booked the Jeep tour (de palm tours) at the front desk for the natural pool and LOVED it! There were plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance, and it was safe to walk thru the streets at night! This was our first visit to Aruba and we fell in love!

[...] Westin=Good!

[...] The only bad thing I would have to say about the hotel was our room had a "mildew" like smell. It wasn't bad enough to warrant a room change, but noticeable. The cleaning staff was great, we had a toddler along and they managed to clean around her nap schedule. The location to the beach is perfect. Another flaw with the hotel, but this holds true for all of the hotels in Aruba, was getting up at 7 am to get a palapa for the day. You could "pre" rent them for $30 a day or get up early and get in line to have one reserved for free for the day; seems a little annoying when you are on vacation.
