Good but not Great

We stayed at the Riu for our honeymoon from Sept 28-Oct 4. The rooms were a little outdated but overall pretty nice. The beds were not the most comfortable but they did accommodate us and give us a king rather than two twins. Overall, my biggest issue was the food. The food was always lukewarm and bland. Even the food at the reservation required restaurants was mediocre. We understood the mediocre food for the large buffets but expected the smaller restaurants to have better food. The best part was the pool and the location. We ended up eating dinner out the last two nights of our stay at a couple restaurants within walking distance.

riu palace.. perfect location!

The Riu is beautiful! The restaurants at the Riu are good, the buffet is decent. my husband and I went to the Riu for our honeymoon. We realized that you really don't need an all inclusive in Aruba because we went out to restaurants every night. But I think if you do comparison shopping it may be worth it because you're saving money on drinks, breakfasts and lunches. the location is perfect right in palm beach across the street from all great little shops and restaurants. Neighborhood is safe. They are taking over the hotel next door so eventually this resort will become even bigger!

Part 2 of our Aruba Honeymoon

We stayed at the RIU for the second part of our honeymoon. We were there for 5 nights. It is a very large hotel. We both thought that most of the food was pretty good, and the location is great. Palm Beach is a very happening area, so you are never short on things to do. I do wish they had more organized activities. We had to ask for schedule at the front desk, and I think it should be posted somewhere for all the guests to see.

Great for 1st timers and drinkers

Overall experience was okay but front desk staff need much more training. I asked to upgrade room because we were on our honeymoon and option was not available online and we were told with an attitude by front desk staff why would we want to upgrade since our room was nice enough. Felt as if front desk staff was bothered when asked questions. Was told that we would have room decorated and surprise since it was our honeymoon but after three requests this was never done. Was told room was ready after 2 hours wait time and when we got to the room the cleaning lady was just getting started. Moved to another room where the AC was not enough and had to use sealing fan to manage the heat. This resort is most valuable to those that drink frequently to get moneys worth. The doorman, bar tenders and waiting staff were very nice and good unlike front desk. Cleaning staff did their job incomplete even though we left them a $10 a day. Food was good and plenty of it. Hotel charged me $25 for two 5 minute local calls to adjacent hotels because the staff to rent vehicles and sign up for activity was not available when they were supposed to be. Would have cost me less to call using Verizon on my mobile phone. The entertainers were good but we found ourselves looking for more and there wasn't much of it. Beach was great and drinks were good.

Wonderful spot for good vacation

Pros Hotel staff were very nice and kind. Plenty of food with variety of cousins and plenty fruits. Hotel provides 2 times room cleaning in a day which is great Hotel is located in the middle of good restaurants, touristic shopping areas Cons Wireless is free but very spotty. Signal quality must be improved. Not enough beach shades ( no umbrella on beach) Hotel is constructing another building next to this hotel, so construction noise exists but not terrible. Overall We had great experience, will definitely come here again. Last but not least my wife used their SPA service; hair and makeup. Kelly is a great help, she picked up the best flowers for her and Jennifer did great job with makeup and hair.

Great Place

My family and I stayed at the Riu for 6 nights and it was great. The pool and beach were very nice and couldn't have been happier with them. The only issue that we had was that the restaurants that you need to make reservations for require pants, which we did not bring. Because of this, we could only eat at the two buffet style restaurants. Other than that, it was fantastic!
