Good Getaway

The Divi Resort was very nice. We had a first floor room with a "garden" view it was very clean and quiet. Stove, fridge freezer etc is nice but no Microwave. A little in room basket with a ration of coffee etc. would be a nice touch since the coffee at Mulligans is pretty bad. Te food however was good at lunch the one time we ate there. We were in room 8102, next to the lobby and a 2 minute walk to the beach or 3 pools. Nice convenient store in lobby and the prices are not crazy for a resort hotel. Pools annd beach were spotless but tought to find a chair or tiki hut on beach if you dont get there early. $9 cab ride downtown or to high rise district. Very convenient.

The Driftwood has great fish. downtown was a bit quiet on Monday night, The Kuku Kanuku bus is fun if you have never been to the island before. Juan Valdex coffee shop at Alahambra shops is a 5 minute walk and great coffee and light breakfast items with free wi-fi. Dushi Bagels is good too.

Divi Village stay

This resort had better value than the Palm Beach area...and the beach was better, really. Our friends actually came down to come to the Eagle Beach area. There were minor things broken in our room (closet door, fuzzy TV) and the staff didn't seem to care, but we were not really bothered. The room we had (a golf villa# was large/comfortable enough that we didn't care if they didn't. I sat on one of the room's verandas in the am sipping coffee and enjoying the warm weather in my pj's while my husband jogged the golf-cart path every day. Best thing - the full and completely equipt kitchen which kept costs down for bfast and lunch #totally affordable grocery store was within walking distance,# so we could dine out for dinner. We ate twice at the resort, once in the city and twice in Palm Beach #both an easy 10 minute bus ride). I would happily go back again.

Aruba was not as expensive as we expected. Grocery stores are easy to find. Get one of the booklets that are everywhere and find happy hour deals. Also, there are many restaraunts with not-so-early dinner specials served.

Perfect Relaxation Getaway

I had to wait until check-in to find out it was on the 1st fl. of Tower 8 in the Divi VIllas. No complaints about the location. The studio was modernly equipped. Towels are changed daily and linens twice a week. Disappointingly, on my last night the maid did not replace the dirty towels and left another dirty one on the floor. Divi should to try to get a Bus Stop closer to the Villas. Go to the orientation, so you can learn about the amenities. Overall - a good experience.

Take the AruBus to the high rise hotel area for dining, shopping and night life. Eagle beach at the La Cabana stop is perfect for non-swimmers. Driuf beach waves are just too rough!

The best days at this resort are over.

We loved it there for many years, despite it not being the most modern resort on the island. The staff was responsive to your needs, courteous, and overall just a good bunch of people. That's not the case anymore. Despite the beautiful improvements including the new golf course, villas, additional pools, etc, we're going there next winter for possibly the last time. We're giving this resort one more chance to improve, before we stop going there. Management at Divi Village is poor and customer service is almost non-existent. They talk nice to you, but fix nothing. Our experience there this past winter was not good. We stayed in a recently renovated room. The new sliding door to the patio was already broken. The kitchen sink leaked copious amounts of water into the cabinet underneath. The towel rack in the shower fell off and struck my wife. The staff used the guests' washing machines to launder towels and washcloths for guest rooms, and used lots of bleach. So much so that the next person to run laundry (me), ended up with clothing that was bleached out from the residual.. Washers and dryers in the "Village' were broken. Had to wash clothes in one building, then carry them to another to dry them. Even worse, another guest mistook me for the washing machine repairman and began yelling at me about the lack of service at Divi Village and the terrible condition of the laundry facilities. Once I stopped laughing about being misidentified, I had to agree with everything she said. Clearly, my complaints are not unique. At one point, after my chronic complaining about the lack of laundry facilities, a new washer and dryer were delivered to our building. However, the staff told me they didn't work. They were right. So I fixed them myself. The problem was that they were not plugged into the wall socket. Now imagine if you had a REAL problem that needed addressing!, The Resort has a beautiful new lobby, which is good, because you spend lots of time there waiting in line for service. The icing on the cake was checkout day. One of the staff at 'C" building locked-out the only working elevator in the building and forgot about it, resulting in the need for guests up to the 6th floor having to carry their luggage downstairs.. None of the other staff knew enough to diagnose the problem. It was me and another guest who pointed it out to them, but only after we had wrestled our suitcases down 5 floors. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. I hope that Divi Village Management reads this and cleans up its act! It used to be a great place.

Vacation

The best most comfortable room in Aruba. They give you everything you need if you want to cook in your room and, of course, you have a choice of restaurants there and in all Aruba to go to.

Golfers have a par 3 course outside their door. Bring your laptop ... WiFi available Two pools .... one kid friendly (slides) Activities need improving, but they try ..... Staff friendly
