Still somewhat of a secret, The Mill Resort is a tranquil low-rise oasis just steps away from the renowned high-rise glitz and glamour of Palm Beach. It offers the best of both worlds and, incredibly, at an outstanding value. 5 Star Service and best price value on Palm Beach Aruba!
Languish poolside or beachside in sun or shade with a frosty pina colada; learn salsa and Latin dancing; take an afternoon siesta in your fully appointed luxurious room or suite or a revitalized walk along the hotel strip. If its action you crave, try the strip or catch the bus to downtown Oranjestad to explore an endless sea of shops, restaurants and casinos; Try to snorkel or scuba; cruise turquoise Caribbean waters; take the off-road challenge on your own ATV; or claim your own stretch of ivory beach.
Additional features: All Rooms and Suites are designated non-smoking. Outdoor swimming pools, poolside bar and the The Mill Restaurant, along with a convenience store/mini-market located off the lobby. Free Internet access throughout property and in all rooms and suites. Getting an upgraded room helped. We had a pool facing room on the second floor (Royal - C Room with no kitchen). The A room is a Studio with kitchenette and with balcony like the C room. The B room has a full kitchen, larger area but no balcony. Pool area was very appealing with new lounges and availability at all times. Beach is about 200 yards away and across road.....with shuttle available. I've been to Aruba over 20x and always rent a car for access to many beaches and restaurants. Bar and restaurant staff were very nice and food/drinks were good. Two Happy Hours/day. Special $15 lunch an $5 drink of day available all day. No real activities or entertainment during our stay but planning for high season. Wednesday night buffet was excellent and Steel Pan player was good. Seems like management has changed with the biggest improvement noted in the reception staff......... very helpful.

Extremeliy Lacking

Nothing but challenges: 1) Day 1 upon arrival after a whole day of flying, absolutely no towels, had to ask for them 3 times. Wife finally had to physically go to the laundry and get them herself. 2) Bugs in the sinks, this was never resolved. Also found them on the dresser. 3) The air conditioner was too cold and would not respond to temperature settings, the only way to control it was shut it off completely (against the note that said not to do this) and open the slider which resulted in the mirrors steaming up and the floor becoming soaking wet from condensation. 4) On our last evening we went to the bar to get drinks to take to our room, it was maybe 1 or 2 minutes before 10 (closing). The bartender still had music on (loud) and a couple customers seated. We were refused the drinks, and told the bar is closed. 5) Since you can no longer walk through the RIU property to get the beach you must rely on the Mill beach shuttle. On 2 occasions the shuttle driver refused to take us except on the half hour. There was nobody waiting for shuttle and it was 10 minutes before so we walked to the beach. We observed the shuttle 5 minutes later, coming, empty. 6) On the final day I asked for a 5:30am wake up call and taxi. They never called for the wake-up. When I inquired at the desk I was told they had the call down for 6:00am. I assumed they never called for the taxi either, so I asked for one again. Subsequently I had two taxis showing up for the fare. I had to choose one, and both wouldn't let me chose the other so a rather heated argument ensued. I finally just got in one of the Taxi's and told them to sort it out with the desk. 7) We've stayed at the Mill four times before never with any of these problems. Staff seemed impatient with our requests. Sorry Mill, but this will be our last time. We bought into the Divy Vacation club. 4 out of 5 years of the Mill were great, friendly responsive staff, so I guess it was our time for that one bad trip. I am sorry because we do so love that resort and have fond memories of all of our stays there and the previous people that served us. It hurts me to have to write this, but I simply must. Whoever is managing that resort now is failing.

Worth It but Could Improve

I've stayed here many times and have seen much of the staff turn over, especially the front desk. What hasn't changed is their inability to check anyone in in less than a half hour............. in fact, when they seem to no longer need help, they are replaced. This year, we started with one person who needed help immediately and the both of them needed help from a supervisor. Everything that needed to get printede resulted in a trip behind a wall and a 2-3 minute wait. Being assigned a first floor room near the driveway entrance and facing the road, I assumed they expected me to act as security or the place must be full. I asked if any inside room was available and it took at least 5 miunutes to get a "no" after 2 yes's. The room was OK, the pool was nice, everyone except reception was competent and friendly. The value was good.

The good and the bad

The room is clean and there was no room service. It is not located on the beach like its shown in the picture, but it's across the street. The staff did not know much about the services that they offer. They told us one thing and it came out to be another thing. Overall, it was okay and will I go back, NO.

not for us

The hotel itself was fine... nothing more. If you are looking a peaceful, relaxing vacation, I'd say go elsewhere. The walls are very thin, the bar is LOUD and right in the center of the "resort". There is limited room around the pool, and the regulars or time share people get up at the crack of dawn to claim the best seats with their stuff. This should not be allowed, but happens every day. The housekeeper was the nicest person we met on the island. One day we accidenally left the safe wide open with all our $ in it, when we got back the room had been cleaned and we were not missing a cent. WOW! The hotel beach is not too far, but you have to walk through another bigger hotel to get there. They start putting the chairs away at 6:00 so unless you bring your own stuff, you probably wont have a place to sit there either. We were very disappointed at the amount of litter all up and down the beaches. Overall this place was for us, a bust.

Dining tip: In Hotel

The prices for food and beverage around the island are high to say the least. We were glad we brought some things to cook in our room as to avoid what to me felt like robbery. We never ate out (2 people) for less than $85. A 6 pack of beer at the hotel costs $25. YIKES!

Good hotel /price but no activities

We rent a car to see all the island has to give. The trips managed by the hotel were expensives. The activities were not as discibed on their website because not enough people was there. The happy hour is the only activity.

Great location for the price!

This is our second stay at the Mlll. We like the rooms and location to the other high-rise hotels and all the shops located nearby. Parking at the Mill was not a problem. The staff treated us very well.

Great price for the stay

Hotel staff very friendly, thank you Feliz for getting our rooms straightened out! Rooms clean and most have a small kitchenette. Pool and patio are beautiful and great place to enjoy more sun after the beach. Hotel staff (desk, food service, housekeeping) all courteous and friendly. Price of rooms was terrific but it is not a luxury hotel BUT rooms are comfortable and clean, beach is a short walk across street. All this leaves the extra $$ to enjoy the Aruba nightlife. Would stay again.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

The Mills are at the beginning of the strip of restaurants and shops. A great place to start your day with a walk or run. There are tons of great places to eat....don't miss Smokey Joes, best ribs. The lighthouse is a beautiful trip (10 min car ride) to see the sunset but the restaurant is not worth the $$...a drink and appy is all but the dinner was not worth the expense. Aruba has changed a lot in the past 15 years, more family friendly. Best snorkeling and scuba diving.

AMAZING!!!!

Excellent Hotel. Don't let the price scare you. Although the price was reasonable -- everything was top notch. Close to the beach.. just cross the street and your there. The bus stop was also across the street. No need to rent a car... taxi & bus rates are reasonable. When we arrived at the airport -- we took a taxi to the resort ($20.00 for 4 people)... check in was fast & easy. Ate lunch at the resort (try the fish soup & pineapple burger.. amazing!!). Then off the beach it was. Dinners are expensive. Beware. Blossoms Restaurant across the street in the Westin was really good. Reasonable prices. Took the bus into town ($2.60pp roundtrip). If you get a chance eat at the Old Fisherman Restaurant -- located next to the bus depot. Good Food. Try the "pantechi" ask for it fried -- to die for. Also, the tours are quite expensive. We rented a jeep for one day ($97.00 insurance included) you can rent it right from the lobby and they bring the car to you -- drove from one side of the island to the other -- took about 40 minutes. We visited the numerous beaches (baby beach is amazing).. also saw the California Lighthouse... and other places. After a full day of excitement and sun -- we lounged around the pool drinking wine and re-capturing the days events. Again, if your looking for a good deal ($$$) stay at The Mills Resort. FYI... bring lots of sunblock. The sun is brutal.

"Not soo Bad"

Our experience was fine.I just wish the rooms were a little cleaner and bigger.I also wish they changed the sheets everyday, you are at a sandy place. But,all in all it wasn't bad.We had a roof over our head,a bed to sleep in, and a toliet and shower.
