Needs improvement
We arrived to Radisson on April 19th and quite honestly are less than impressed. Front desk never told us that we should be reserving beach umbrellas and although the beach was beautiful you had to stand in an hour line to get one for free or pay $40 to get one up front by the water without waiting. Ridiculous! Today, 50 min later, all umbrellas have been taken so if you think you have your day to do whatever you please- better spend the money and get one reserved early or all of them will be gone! Restaurant was good. Food was delicious. Many other restaurant options nearby. Hotel room is dated. Bathroom has cracks and you'll be fighting for one sink. Also rooms were designed to be adjacent and are separated by one door so be ready to hear your neighbors. Ours stayed up until 2-3 am keeping us awake. You can also hear everyone in the hallway including cleaning staff. I'm a very sound sleeper but I was awaken several times. Over all it was not worth the money for a peaceful gateway. We'll be staying somewhere else next time!

Great hotel for the price...Hotel very clean with friendly staff and great service. When we checked in we were upgraded to a junior suite without asking but the view wasn't great, overlooking a side overhang with a birds eye view of the water(was described as a water view room) Staff made every effort to change our room but the suite was spacious and beautifully decorated compared to a standard room that we ended up staying put, trading off the view for a suite that slept 5! The hotel is ideally located in the middle of all the high rise hotels with everything you need within walking distance including shopping and many unbelievable restaurants. This is our first time to Aruba and staying at a Radisson so we booked the Radisson soley on several recommendations. Some past reviews complained about the beach hut reservation system they have going but every resort on this island seems to have the same system as I noticed walking the beach in the mornings...Going there you need to know you need to go to the towel shack near the pool anytime after 4 pm every day to reserve your hut for the next day. The funny thing is they put a row of directors chairs near the towel shack because people start lining up at 3 pm for their next day's reservation( I went every day after I heard the happy hour bell at 4pm and got a free hut in the same vicinity every day!) Many huts are free but the prime huts in the first/second rows up from the water are between $18-40 per day...yes i had to have them repeat that price but plenty pay that, but there are enough huts that are free. The hotel to water distance is not that far so you dont need a front/second row hut to have a good view of the beach. The other nice thing I noticed around the large expansive pool was the daily availability of chairs throughout the day, which many other island resorts seem to have complaints about especially with the hogging of chairs. The beach area for the Radisson compared to many other hotels in Aruba is so expansive, many people seemed to set up their daily camp on the beach than at the pool. The only downfall as I see it at the Radisson is the cost of food if you are going on a family trip seeing that it is not a semi- inclusive or all-inclusive...breakfast buffet ( only breakfast offered) is $22.00 per day with all the taxes and 15% gratuity (automatically added on every purchase) for an adult. There are plenty of breakfast places in the area with most costing $10-15 so we ended up going out every morning. There is also Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks one block away which we also visited some mornings but unfortunately DD coffee did not taste the same there in Aruba! Food in general in Aruba is much more expensive so many families staying for a week or longer went to a super food store not far away by taxi ($8.00 taxi ride) for a supply of food. There were only 2 of us staying for 6 days so we made due...an adult average cost per day to eat figured out to be around $75.00/day. We found Aruba to be one of the safest Island trips we've been on including the bus service which is reasonable...many taxis available but the busses were plentiful and very easy to navigate. Interestingly enough, in talking to many other guests at the pool who are yearly visitors to Aruba, all reported they have tried many other resorts on the Island but all were back because they liked the Radisson the best. I would definately return to this hotel.

Staff was excellent and very eager to please their guests. Plaza club was great. Nice breakfast, snacks, and cocktail hour. My only complaint was that people started lining up at 3:00 pm to get a palaypa for the following day. (Reservations start at 4:00 PM). Pickings were slim to none if you arrived after 4:15. Location is great. Within walking distance to shopping and restaurants. On site eating is good too. Otherwise, great place. Will definitely return.

Quiet Beach Vacation
We stayed with our 12-year-old during his spring break. The hotel is in perfect location and has larger beach than neigboring hotels in Palm Beach highrise area. We enjoyed swimming in the calm sea for 6 out of 7 days. You need to stay in line for 15-30 min at 4PM to reserve a palapa for the following day which was not a big deal for us (they give you an option to avoid this daily routine for about $25 a day.) Every couple days or so cruise ship passengers get to the beach and obstruct your view with their rented umrellas, though even then the beach doesn't feel crowded. The drawback for us was lack of entertainment for our son. The place is perfect as a quiet beach vacation spot. The food packages don't make much sense financially - there are plenty of good quality choices across the street.

Best vacation ever
My wife and I have gone on vacations and we're always disappointed by the cleanliness of the hotel, or the lack the amenities, or the lack of good customer service. At the Radisson Aruba, all three were perfect and we cannot wait to go back! If you're unsure where to stay in Aruba, try the Radisson. The beach is immaculate, the hotel is clean, the grounds are beautiful, the proximity to walkable shopping and restaurants is a stones throw, and the staff makes every effort to make your stay at the hotel perfect. Give it a try... you will not be disappointed!
