About 2016 Copa America Centenario

Celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, the Copa America tournament is South America's biggest and most-renowned international soccer tournament. The Copa America tournament also boasts the title of the world's oldest international soccer contest. Under the guidance of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL), the Copa America has been held once every four years since 2007. The tournament involves 12 teams in total: 10 members of the South American Confederation and teams from two other countries. Massive venues
In celebration of the tournament's 100th anniversary, this year's event promises to be different: Not only will it be the biggest and best Copa America to date, but it will also take place in the U.S. for the first time ever! A total of sixteen teams will participate - 10 teams from the South American Football Confederation and an additional six from the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF). The U.S. and Mexico automatically qualify for the Centenario event, with Costa Rica, Jamaica, Panama and Haiti joining them from CONCACAF. The ten teams from CONMEBOL include Brazil, Bolivia, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. The games will kick off on June 3, 2016 and the competition will culminate with the final game on June 26. During that time period a total of 32 matches will be played across 10 U.S. cities, including Chicago, Houston and Orlando. The final game will be held at the iconic Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
