A passion that won't die down
Hailing from Sweden, Refused began in 1991. Their first studio album came out in 1994. Left-leaning and anarchist, Refused's brash and aggressive attitude resonated with other dissatisfied youth – but it would cause problems in their professional career. After releasing their third album in 1998, Refused erupted in flames and disbanded. The band published a final press release denouncing the commercialization of music. The reunion was only intended to be short-term, and Refused spent the year playing at festivals like Coachella, the Way Out West Festival, and Rock for People. The 2012 reunion was only a taste of what was to come, though, and in 2014 the band reunited with a long-term vision. In 2015 they released Freedom, their first album in over fifteen years.
