Jimmy Buffett was born on December 25, 1946 in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Growing up Buffett was always involved in music, whether it was playing the trombone in his high school band or the guitar later when he was in college. It was not until the late 1960’s that he decided to actually pursue music as a career and move to Nashville, Tennessee. Not long after starting his music career did he establish his signature laid-back style. In 1977 his album "Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes" was released featuring the hit song Margaritaville. Soon, those with Jimmy Buffett tickets began coming to the concerts in the same island attire, helping establish their beloved nickname: parrot heads.

Several of Jimmy Buffett's albums have reached Gold or Platinum status, but he will perhaps always be best known for his signature hit, "Margaritaville."

Jack of All Trades

Along with being a top selling musician, Jimmy Buffet is also known as a businessman, author, producer and philanthropist. After songs such as Margaritaville and Cheeseburger in Paradise became such a huge success, Buffett began opening merchandising stores in their honor. This eventually turned into Buffett opening restaurant chains around the world named after his songs. You can find these restaurants in most major cities, including the casino capitals where Jimmy Buffett's schedule often takes him. Some of his other business ventures include casinos, beer production and real estate. Buffett has also made the New York Times Best Seller list with his autobiography “A Pirate Looks at Fifty” and several children’s books. When you purchase Jimmy Buffett concert tickets, you also help to support the artist's charitable causes. The Singing for Change Foundation takes one dollar from each ticket sale and uses it to fund non-profit organizations in cities and other regions where Jimmy Buffett tour dates are scheduled.
