Stay in Richmond, VA
Greg Nov 4, 2009
My colleague and I stayed five days at the Wyndham Richmond for business purposes. It was centrally located for our ... traveling. The room was kept clean; the beds were comfortable with the extra soft pad; and internet access was excellent. There were a couple of things that might have improved our stay. One, the pillows were too thick, it would be better to have a variety of sizes for sleeping needs. Also, we thought there would be a small fridge and a mini microwave available which would have helped our dietary needs.

There were numerous eating places within a half mile that gave a wide variety of choices.

Good Location, But a Little Pricey
Traveling Artist Oct 31, 2009
The Wyndham is easy access to Richmond area sights. I visited the Botanic Gardens, the Tredigar/Civil War Center, and the ... James River Walk, and drove through old Richmond. The hotel is across the street from a large outdoor mall with everything you could need including restaurants, fast food, shops, and gas. The hotel layout itself seems more suited to a convention experience than individual or family vacation. It's not exactly "styled around" the "beautiful atrium complex" which feels like more of an add-on. So lobby restrooms are past the restaurant and bar and into the convention section -- a long walk with no direction signs. Ask at the desk. Any other amenities? Ask at the desk. There's little information in the rooms and the check-in folks were pleasant but they didn't volunteer any info. On the good news side, when the room had a minor problem, one call to the desk and housekeeping was there immediately to fix it.

In Virginia many of the historic sites (Like at the Tredegar Civil War Center) have side-by-side attractions -- the National Park Service and a private group. The Park Service site is free, so start there and see what they offer. Then check out the paid site. Sometimes it's really wonderful and worth the cost. Other times the Park Service center gives you more than you needed.

Well-appointed
Jo Sep 23, 2009
Really wished I had known the pool was closed, I swim daily for exercise. The water was turned off for about 2 hours, ... resulting in a later check out, a minor inconvenience, but we felt rushed getting showers. The bed linens and pillows were wonderful and I especially liked the carpet and wallpaper color scheme in the hallways.

Unbeatable location for the price

I flew in for the Richmond race & was extremely late checking in... the night staff was great! When I got to my room I ... realized that the beautiful pillows & comforter were down filled... which I am allergic to... the staff was very prompt in exchanging the bedding. The service staff at the buffet the next morning were prompt & courteous. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Pleasant Stay
Happy Traveler Aug 7, 2009
The staff was always friendly & helpful. The room was delightful. The elevator was slow though! Very slow! The hotel was ... under construction during our trip but efforts were made so that we were never bothered by loud noise. All in all a pleasant hotel to stay at.

An Exasperating Ordeal
Rusty May 15, 2009
The first night I was kept awake by the slamming door of my direct neighbor. The lock latch was closed so they could go back ... and forth without the key (to who knows where) so there was not one slam each time but two. When I finally had enough at 2:00 am I tried to call the front desk. The room phone did not work. I awoke at 6:00 AM to guess what? SLAM, slam. I'm not sure if they even slept. Changed my room to 3 floors higher. I had a change in plans and requested a cot for my daughter who was a day early getting out of college. The cot arrived in our absence without sheets and blankets. I had to ask twice, the second time I was given the sheets, blanket and pillow at the front desk. I made up the cot myself. My room key needed to be recoded three time during my stay. I guess by cell phone erased the coding? Other than those items, and the TV's being about 10 years old, everything was fine.
