Overall it was an awesome time. Definitely get the oceanfront. Do not listen to the guys when you first get off the plane ... they just try to sell you a timeshare. Just get on your shuttle. LOCK UP EVERYTHING OF VALUE. We left our camera on the tv armoire and it was stolen on our second day. The vendors on the beach suck. The sea was magnificent. Bring DEET for the calm days when the flies/mosquitoes come out.

Beautiful Family Wedding
Retired Mom Nov 18, 2009
We attended a family wedding which turned out to be very enjoyable. I hesitated as to what type of room, food and amenities ... would be included in the "all-inclusive" price and was very pleasantly surprised. The food was good and if you didn't get enough you could always order more. The rooms were very nice and kept clean. Helpful staff with whatever we wanted to do. We rented our car to tour the island but had to go on a tour of the facility in order to get a price break for the car. (That was probably my only complaint) They were selling time-shares and wanted everyone to tour the facility. Drinks were included in the "all-inclusive" price which was very nice.

Wyndham isn't Ideal!
Patricia LakeBunny Nov 17, 2009
I go to Cozumel 3 times a year and this hotel was definitely not what I expected of a Wyndham. The majority of the staff was ... so friendly but the reception desk was horrible and could careless about pleasing us. We were informed we would have a room with a refrigerator for medical purposes and when we got to this tiny room there wasn't one. The reception desk refused to get us one and we had to go to a manager. Meanwhile all of our friends were getting upgrades to unbelievably nice rooms and we get one of their worst rooms fighting for a refrigerator. The food was unflavorable; no salsa or spices. I have alot of friends in Cozumel so I had a rental car and went to see my friends and still do most everything I enjoy. Anyway, I was quite displeased with the Wyndham and don't plan on recommending it to anyone.

remember to haggle ALL PRICES in Mexico. That shell necklace on the beach for 10 USD sells for 2.50 in the duty free shop. Always walk away if you don't get the price you want. The wife bought a 76 dollar necklace for 20. About the only thing this doesn't work on is necessities like bug spray and tan lotion. Also any Cuban cigar for under 15 is a fake, haggling shouldn't work on Cigars.

the good...the views, the food, the drinks, staff was friendly, everything was clean, problems were handled appropriately. ... We had an issue with our room but we were moved to new room in the upgraded section (Sabor). It didn't have the views of our original room but the amenities helped make up for it (room service, connecting pools with waterslides and bar...etc). Be sure to stop by Dich'beh tequila for free samples of the best tequila you will ever drink. Dich'beh has a shop at Punta Lagosta mall and Wyndham resort. the bad...the original room we got was beautiful but had plumbing problems. the toilet was clogged when we arrived and clogged after every use. They do not want you to stick toilet paper in the toilets and even though we followed this rule it didn't matter. I give them a 4 star since I was moved to an acceptable room after all problems with my original room.

Sabor is the most bang for the buck.
John Jay Nov 12, 2009
The property is very nice/well groomed, the rooms are good for the $$$, the food was good/excellent, staff helpful and ... friendly. The biggest issue anyone will have is with access. There are three different 'Hotels' (Aura- deluxe, Sabor- midrange, Regency- economy) that are connected and carry the Wyndham name but while they will RARELY tolerate guests of a more pricey area visiting the lower priced areas it is technically not allowed. (You are supposed to stay in your area) This a particular problem when traveling in groups (like a wedding party) with people on different budgets because it will be VERY DIFFICULT to hang out together (be ready for someone to have to pay more money even to use technically lesser facilities). Other than access you will have a great time. SCUBA is a MUST! :)

Lime smasher Nov 8, 2009
Stay at the Sabre side. Heavy rain caused the hotel to make some unplanned changes to how they normally do things but the ... adjusted as well as could be expected. The food was excellent at all of the locations, the drinks were good too, no bottled American beer, mostly Mexican draft. Top shelf alcohol was available but you had to ask. Staff was friendly and helpful, just don't be afraid to ask for what you want - extra water/beer in room, food made the way you want, etc. Some of the areas of the hotel did have a smell of sorts - it is Mexico and is is a tropical jungle.
Traveler type: Family
Ask for the top shelf alcohol always, if not they use some Mexican stuff. If you have a favorite plastic cup or something, bring it and use it. Their cups are small.

I was here for a wedding of my cousin and everything from the location to the room was great. But the Staff was incredible. ... Namely, [...] & [...] were amazingly freindly, accommodating, and proffessional. I work in the hospitality industry and while I travel I always look for those who really love their job and consistantly go above and beyond for ALL of their guests. Both of these gentlemen have a bright future in hospitality. I thank them for their great attention to every guests needs while visiting the Wyndham.

Almost all portions of food are small. Food overall was good. However, no matter how many people ordered the same thing, it seemed to be the most inconsistent presentations, from plate to plate and from night to night...but I do want to stress that the taste of the food was not affected, just strange that it almost always looks different.

I booked regular garden view room. Low season=low occupancy so I received a free upgrade to the time share villa area. ... Ground floor villa with a small kitchette and living area. Pool just outside sliding glass door. Service was excellent everywhere! Food was great especially mexican night when we had pastor tacos. Drinks were not watered down & you could call your own brand of liquor (limited). Isias (sp?) at the beach bar is a true gem of a guy.
