We went hiking and mountain biking for two days. Breakfast was good for a buffet at 12.95. Didn't eat their for dinner. ... It's a decent place for getting out and around Winter Park, Fraser and surrounding area. Nothing fancy, just a safe and clean sleeper.

First I couldn't find the hotel and when I called I got a recording so I had to stop and ask. Then when I checked in the guy ... at the front desk told me to drive around to the back. I did and only found the loading dock. After hiking 6 flights of stairs to try to find our room I saw that where we were supposed to enter was actually on the right side of the hotel. Our room had no air, no screen, water stains on the walls, and the carpet was ripped up. I wouldn't stay there again unless I stayed in the renovated part.

Not a bad place for the price
Steelers Fan Jul 30, 2009
This was not the house of horrors that some other posts have indicated, but it wasn't the Ritz-Carlton, either. Limited ... choices in this small town, and this is prob. the most decent of them unless you want to stay across the hwy. and pay big bucks at the ski resort. Rooms were average, clean, could use newer furniture, carpet, etc. but still overall not bad for a night or two. (I was in the newer section.) Restaurant wasn't anything to get excited about, and priced too high. Good location, right across hwy. from ski resort, and free shuttle buses take you the few miles into town (which consists of 1 main street).

Mountain Madness Jul 20, 2009
The location was great...just a couple minutes from Winter Park Resort. But the hotel was super noisy. We were in the older ... section of the hotel and the walls are paper thin. There's also no air conditioning or fans on the older rooms, so the room is a sauna at night. The pool and two large hot tubs were great after a hard day of mountain biking!

Had a great time in the ski area. Rode the ski lift to the top of the mountain, ate a good meal in the local resturanunt and ... enjoyed some wonderful weather as well. My only complaint about the hotel was a little loud at night and the bath plumbing was leaking into the bathtub.

The hotel is located right accross from the Winter Park ski lodge and you can easily walk to the resort. It is also a short ... bike ride to more restautants and shops and is located near a great bike trail. The hotel is old and not well maintained. We paid for a "forest view", but was given a room on the first floor that only had a view of the parking lot. We visited in off season, so service was ok and restaurant was not open. Pool and hot tub were excellent. Overall, if you want an affordable room to sleep in, good choice.

NEVER STAY HERE
Dog Lover Lisa Jul 5, 2009
This was the WORST hotel we have ever stayed at! The room was extremely small, no headboards, wires for the TV and cable ... everywhere in the room, bedding was old and gross. We wouldn't even take a shower in the room ~ it was that bad. I am a small person, and while sitting on the toliet I had to lean away from the sink counter top - they were literally on top of each other. The sheets were nice and clean and tucked in VERY WELL, good thing, as it was the only thing keeping me on the super small bed. My husband slept with the window coverings on his head, as it had no headboards to keep it away. The window coverings were extremely dusty as was the top of the TV stand. We picked this hotel because it was dog friendly -- this hotel is not even fit for a dog! My dogs wouldn't even sleep on the floor! AND the security lock on the door didn't even work! The room was REALLY cheap, so I guess you get what you pay for. We will never stay here again -- I would rather stay in a tent.

Fantastic Hotel for Skiing!
HotboaterH20 Jun 3, 2009
Our checkin was botched & we did not get the room with the view we wanted. We later found out it was the front desk guys ... first week on the job. The hotel cant be beat for close to the slope skiing! The bus stopps by often. The restuarant was top notch. The indoor pool was a treat. They also had snowmobile tours right at the hotel which should not be missed. Room lighting was marginal. Would stay here again!

Hurrricane Grandma Mar 28, 2009
Having traveled the world the only places I have been that didn't have seat covers on the toilets have been the squat toilets ... in China and the holes in the ground in Africa until I stayed at Winter Park Mt. Lodge! I suppose that is a small item, but I also don't like showering with mildew, I believe it is part of the fungus family. Perhaps if I had stayed in the newer part of the hotel I would have had a better experience. Maybe ORBITZ should indicate that there is an older section and a newer section to this building in their description of the property, and that the older section is similiar to an European youth hostel.....only more expensive.

Don't bother here!
Dissatisfied in Denver!!!! Mar 23, 2009
We were assigned the room next to the exit to bar/restaurant. There was bar traffic noise at all hours of the night, finally ... to end with a 3 a.m. domestic disturbance outside our door. When I complained the next day to the manager on duty, the only question he asked was how our reservation was booked which I responded as Orbitz. He did not ask what my problem was nor did he seem to care when I proceeded to tell him anyway (or even offer to move us). He said that despite my dissatisfaction with the room, it was not the hotel's problem but Orbitz. So if you have a complaint don't count on getting any relief or care from the hotel! I proceeded to contact Orbitz. I use Orbitz for all my travel arrangements, but this is the first time I have had a dispute. It is very difficult to get a real person to speak with and the process leaves a lot to be desired. Once I finally got a real person, he had to call the hotel management to verify my complaint, which I thought was ridiculous since the manager on duty didn't even care what my complaint was when I was standing in front of him. Needless to say, management would not take the call from Orbitz until the fifth time I called Orbitz back to try again. Orbitz would not refund any money before speaking to the hotel. On the fifth day when Orbitz finally reached the hotel manager, the agent connected me directly with the manager to get a refund. The manager finally offered to refund the one night that we did not stay (as we checked out early to avoid a second sleepless night) but would offer nothing for the sleepless night that we did stay. Secondly he would only refund the portion of the night that the hotel charged, not the entire charge; therefore, requiring yet another call to Orbitz to refund the difference. This was the most ridiculous and cumbersome excuse at customer service that I have seen yet on the part of the hotel and Orbitz! There are many other reasonably priced alternatives in Winter Park!!
