Mt. Pleasant outlets are great. Lucky Jeans outlet, Gap, etc. Maybe 100 stores, in North Charleston/Mt. Pleasant area. Unfortunately, the area STINKS, literally, from the grain silos on the bay, but the shopping makes up for it.

Excellent accomodations

We booked a condo through Orbitz. What was supposed to be a 1BR turned out to be a 3BR condo with full kitchen right on the ... links golf course. Wild Dunes Resort provides FREE transportation all over the resort, from the beach to the Grand Pavilion to the restaurants to, well, anywhere as long as it is within the Wild Dunes resort. This is a very kid-friendly area. The beach is amazing -- maybe 100 yards deep, great sand, quiet. Only 20 min from Charleston. We've also stayed at the Boardwalk Inn, which is equally outstanding.

We had a good condo in a great location at the port o call building, and werent able to sleep due to the unit above us being ... so noisy with heavy feet all day and night. We called to complain during the afternoon, and called a second time about midnight and were transferred to an amazing room at the shipwatch building. The views were incredible and the unit was stunning and very quiet. We were there for one week and didnt get to do all we wanted. We went into charleston several times, and were impressed with how close wild dunes was to charleston. The incredible staff made me promise to them to be back next year.

The Wild Dunes Resort was beautiful. The view of the ocean from our terrace was great. We got a lot for the little amount ... we paid. We were in Heaven. The only thing was it was a gated community and we are not used to that. One of the guards at our gate was not very patient with us. Other than that, we loved it!!

Great Getaway

RetiredWannaBe Aug 26, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

Our daughter goes to School in SC so every year when we drive her down we spend time at Wild Dunes. It's a very active place ... to stay, tennis, golf, biking, jogging and it is right on the beach where the water is always warm during the summer months. We usally stay toward the end of August when all the southern schools are back in session but this time we were a little early and got a taste of lots of vactioning families with lots of young kids at the pool (been there done that). I like it better without the kids :-) but it is still a great place. We did not rent a villa but stayed at the boardwalk Inn which a short walk down a boarwalk linned with private homes to the beach. This is our 5th time staying at wild dunes and we always have a great time. Play tennis, hang on the beach, take a nap, then head into to Charleston for great food and drink. Charleston is a short (maybe 20 min) drive from Wild Dunes. It's a great little city with tons of shopping and eating and lots of historic tours. The hotel room was nice, not 5 star but a nice size and clean. This particular room had a very large balcony which made it nice to sit outside. We got a great deal on Orbitz for the room too.

The dinning at Wild Dunces is good, but you have to go into Charleston to eat great meals. We ate at The Charleston Grill (they have a really good early bird dinner special), Henry's (fantastic seafood), and 39 Rue De Jean (got to try the mussels) and for real southern simple food try Jestines.

Wild Dunes outdoes itself again

Karen Jul 25, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

We have stayed at Wild Dunes several times, but this time was the best by far. I spoke with the Wild Dunes concierge a couple ... of days before our arrival and discussed the possibility of sending flowers to the room or ordering a massage for my partner because it was our 14th anniversary. I ended up not ordering anything, but when we checked in, there was a plate of grapes, chocolate-covered strawberries, a bottle of champagne chilling and a thoughtful note wishing us happy anniversary from the staff. The room was perfect, with views of the ocean, and the staff service was impeccable. We had to call the front desk for some toothpaste. They didn't have any, but they sent someone to the resort store and delivered it to our room. We can't say enough about Wild Dunes. Its service and thoughtfulness keeps us coming back despite the cost.

The Village was great!

Ryno342 Jul 20, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

This was a great place to stay. We stayed in the Villages which are the newest rooms there you can get. Rooms were great ... with a kitchen and washer and dryer in the room. Very handy! The ocean is only a sidewalk away. The pools are a little to be desired. We of course went when a lot of families were on vacation so there were a ton of kids. So if you are looking to swim in a pool you will have to fend off all of the kids. There is no adult private pool if thats what you are looking for. Also there are 3 retaurants on the premises. Of those the Olive is the best. They have all of this fansy stuff on the menu. For the price you can drive into Mount Pleasant and get a better meal for cheaper. Overall its on the ocean so what more can you ask for?!!

Terrific Vacation

Fast Eddie Jun 26, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

Everything from the golf, beach, marina and restaurants are most convenient. Have traveled to every beach in North and South ... Carolina, this is now our favorite and will return every year.

Beach was beautiful

Local restaurants better than on-site: Morgan Creek Grille on IOP; Sullivans on Sullivan Island; Reds, RB's and Vickery's on Shem Creek.

Shopping hint, Short Drive

Mt. Pleasant outlets are great. Lucky Jeans outlet, Gap, etc. Maybe 100 stores, in North Charleston/Mt. Pleasant area. Unfortunately, the area STINKS, literally, from the grain silos on the bay, but the shopping makes up for it.

--SalibaLaw, Wytheville VA Sep 10, 2009

Shopping hint, Short Drive

A huge new shopping complex was nearby in Mt. Pleasant that was very nice!

--GAM, Hudson, OH Sep 6, 2009

complimentary valet parking made coming and going quick and easy

--toledo, toledo, oh Sep 6, 2009

Lots of great restaurants on the Isle of Palms and Sullivan's island.

Wild dunes had great food, but a bit pricey. A short drive and we were able to find great food at great prices.

The highlight of our trip was a dinner cruise out of Patriots Point with Spiritline Tours

--Dissappointed Romantic Couple, Atlanta, GA Aug 24, 2009

Dining hint, Short Drive

Go to Hanks in downtown Charleston for a great seafood dinner. If you can't do dinner, go to the Fleet Landing in downtown Charleston for lunch.

--Karen, Atlanta, Ga. Jul 25, 2009

The Rooftop Bar and Restuarant in Charleston is a must do.

great fun dining on sullivans island

--Julie, Chicago, IL Jun 3, 2009

The Lettered Olive service was so slow. Had to spend over 2 hours on a simple burger and fry dinner.

--Southern Girl, Barnwell, SC Jun 2, 2009

Dining hint, In Hotel

Restaurant in Boardwalk Inn was quite good, though the ceviche left a lot to be desired for a seaside resort.

There are a multitude of fantastic places to eat near Wild Dunes. Try the Banana Cabana on Isle of Palms...the He Crab Soup is worth the trip alone.
