The coffee shop has great food at a good price, served quick. You have to work to get staff to attend to water refills, etc.

Hair revival is a real treat! I saw the original and don't remember having as much fun (tho I WAS 22 back then and trying to be cool and calm about everything). Actually, many musicals and plays to see and half-price tix are the best for a family. But often tickets are still at the box-office an hr or so before curtain; you're just taking a chance of course.

The location was AMAZING! Seriously, for the price, you can't be closer to Times Square and Broadway. It did take a little ... long for our room to get ready after check-in, but we were directed to a pub to wait. The staff is super friendly, and I will definitely stay here again!

RichardK Nov 18, 2009
The price was right and the location is in the heart of midtown. The bedroom and bathroom were small but clean and ... functional. However we were on the third floor facing the street and the noise was tremendous--loud traffic noise all night followed by the booms and bangs of heavy construction starting at 6AM.

Excellent location!
DKNYC Nov 16, 2009
My 3 friends and I were on a special birthday treat to NYC. I did call ahead and asked them for 2 beds instead of 1 bed and ... a pull-out and they did accomodate us which was good. The room was ok but nothing special, however, was clean and we got maid service everyday. The main selling point of the hotel is it's fabulous location, turn right out of the hotel and you can see Central Park, turn left and you can see Times Sq. The reception staff were a bit unfriendly, I had to wait ages for them to acknowledge me, despite the abundance of them on duty. However, the concierge staff were excellent and very friendly. The main disadvantage to this hotel is there is no bar, and the reception has one sofa and a couple of chairs. Many people who were checking out waiting for transport had no alternative but to sit on the floors which was a bit ridiculous, with no refreshments. Ok there is an adjoining diner, but this got very busy also. There was nowhere really just to sit and wait with a drink. I would recommend this hotel if you are on a tight schedule to NYC, its has basic amenities and you really can walk to a lot of the attractions.

I had tix for the Letterman Show and this place is right around the corner, not to mention within walking distance of even ... the far reaches of the Broadway theaters. MoMA and Radio City MH also very close by, as is Carnegie Hall. The location and price for what you get is about the best I've had in NYC. Not a luxury hotel, but good staff and clean rooms and - again - location, location, location!

[...] It was very roomy and comfortable. The location is convenient to everything and it was no trouble finding taxis. ... There's a coffee shop in the hotel and they had very fast service so you were in and out in no time. The hotel was very busy and a little noisy but that caused no problems. Great location for travel
Jianfei Nov 12, 2009
We stayed three days in total at Wellington Hotel. What we liked most is its GREAT location. From the window of our small ... room on the 20th floor, the lights from Times Square looks gorgeous at nights. Thanks to its great location, we could walk back from Times Square, or the Fifth avenue, or Rockefeller Center in no more than 15mins late at nights. Here comes the bad parts, this is an old hotel with small rooms, it has everything that a Motel does. The staff there, at least that we have encountered, are not friendly at all, especially the lady at the front desk (don't get me wrong, they can answer your question in a very short way, and they do can help you to check in/out). The stuffs at the front gate watched us carrying big languages on the stairs without offering any help. Suggestions: If you plan to rent a car, definitely rent from Hertz, since there is very convenient rent/return location nearby; The subway station is just at its SIDE door which is closed at night; Using a shuttle service from/to airport is convenient. In general, we like this hotel only due to its SUPER location and not-expensive cost.

Not a Great Experience
Disappointed Traveler Nov 10, 2009
The location for this hotel is really good, and I assume that this is why the Wellington Hotel continues to stay in business. ... My wife and I were visiting New York for our 10 year wedding anniversary. This hotel was NOT a good choice for this type of stay. The heater made extremely loud banging noises throughout the night and cool air conditioning was not available during this time of the year so once the room became overheated, our only option was to crack the window a bit to cool things down. After the first rough night, I explained to reception that we were at the hotel for a special occasion and requested that we be moved to another room. I was told that the hotel was old and then was asked to call back in the morning. Both times that I dealt with reception, there was a total disregard for what were politely requesting. In the end, we decided to just deal with the noise instead of wasting more time arguing with management. If you are concerned about location alone, this is the hotel for you. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and spend a little more on another hotel.

Business Trip w/some play time
Alois Nov 10, 2009
Hotel was just Okay. Little problems spoiled an otherwise better than average stay. Front desk staff was wonderful and very ... helpful. Room problems throughout hotel: Shower curtains too short causing much water on bathroom floor. Lack of ability to control heat was horrible and forced us to leave window open. TV was small and old. Lack of a general business room w/computer for internet access to use to print out airplane boarding passes at no charge was unacceptable. This hotel is not really "business traveler" friendly.
