My friends and I stayed at this hotel because it had the lowest rate. With this in mind, and based on other reviews I had ... read, I was expecting this hotel to be a little sketchy. Instead, the room was very clean and a good size. The bathroom was a bit small, and the ceiling above the bathtub was water damaged. The refrigerator was great, although I would recommend bringing microwavable plates because by the end of our stay we had tons of leftover food but no way of heating it up in the room's microwave. This hotel also has free wifi, which was amazing. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to any one who needs a place to stay on a budget.

This hotel is on Ocean Blvd or "the Strip," just further down than most of the fun stuff. You may be tempted to drive, but unless you go in the off season, you probably won't find parking, so just walk. The ocean's right across the street, so walk along the shore instead of on the road.

We spent very little time in the room. The good thing was that it was very close to alot of attractions, but the refrigerator ... was broken, the tv didn't quite work, the bathtub was very small. the cleaning lady would show up at different times, and if you asked her to come back, she said no.

NEVER EVER STAY HERE!
Spazz Kitty Sep 14, 2009
you get what you pay for! first off when we pulled up we noticed the pool water was brown. We unloaded our bags into the room ... which was small and looked unclean. We were actually scared to leave our things there in fear of a break in. After returning to the room we found what appeared to be drug paraphenalia outside our room. we immediatley checked out!we had our 2 year old son with us. We thought a refund was processed but as of yet we have not received it. So I am now home in NC & I call the hotel and this is what I get. The owner claims there are drugs at the hotel beside hers but not at the Virginian. Okay so they know it is a drug zone so I guess that is why they never offered to come look at what we found. They must find stuff on a regular basis. I booked through cheaptickets.com and they cannot issue a refund unless the hotel says ok. Unless you are looking for a room to get your fix I would stay here!

Boy, were we surprised!!!
The Brummelhoffs Aug 19, 2009
This hotel was great it was clean quiet and had very friendly staff we stayed three days and paid a great price it was only a ... 1 minute walk to the beach and it was worth it with the money we saved. I was worried that the rooms would be dirty(because of the low price), but they were very clean and comfortable. We got fresh towels daily, were able to grill our own food in the back lot, and went swimming in the pool as long as we wanted. The showers were hot and had great water pressure it was all we could have asked for. The owners were very friendly and concerned about us and how our trip was. This is family friendly for those on a budget. Bring a coffee pot though that's all it was missing. We will be back next year for sure!

The Virginian Motel in Myrtle Beach
dollfacegreene Aug 17, 2009
The staff was very pleasant and helpful. When we needed directions to the mall and other stores, they took the time to show ... us on the map and make sure we understood where we were going. The room was pleasant and had everything we needed. We were visiting relatives and didn't stay in the room for long periods of time, but we felt comfortable and cozy. Having the refrigerator and microwave in the room really helped us a lot. The room was very clean and comfortable. The location was very good. In the past we stayed in Georgetown, since we visit relatives in nearby Pawleys Island. In my opinion, the room was better than where we stayed in Georgetown. After this visit we decided we will stay on the beach more often. We would stay in this hotel again. It is a basic motel with nothing fancy, but a great value and worth every penny.

Perfect for families with small children
Jennifer Aug 17, 2009
We traveled with 2 small children (20 month old and a 7 year old). Although the rooms were small for a family of four, they ... were very clean. We requested a non-smoking room...and was surprised to find there was no "old cigarette odor" to the room as you find with other non-smoking rooms in other places. We also requested the room with the mini-kitchen. The refrigerator was a full size one which was awesome for the kids' juice/milk/snacks. It had a small stove and a microwave too. And all of the appliances were CLEAN!! You could get pots and pans for a $20 REFUNDABLE deposit if you needed them, which I thought was a nice amenity. The coffee maker didn't work, but the staff replaced it once we reported it. The room had a lock on the door, but you could still open it from the inside while it was locked...which we discovered when my 20 month old escaped from the room once or twice. This is a safety issue for families with small children. A chair in front of the door was no match for our 20 month old, who could still move it and get to the door. They need a guard door lock at the top of the door so if kids open the door, it will only open about 3 inches or so. You could tell the hotel had upgraded a bit (i.e. wall color, artwork, appliances) compared to some of the other Myrtle Beach hotels...at least the ones I've been in. The location was great...right on Ocean Blvd. You are almost in the "heart" of the downtown Myrtle Beach area (which is where all the fun stuff is), but it is all within walking distance. The parking was free for hotel guests, which was definately nice because parking is on average $6 to $10 a day. Behind the hotel is the South side of Kings Hwy, which is where all the shopping and restarants are. The hotel is located across the street from the beach (very convenient) and the hotel had a pool. The pool was on the small side, but only the kids in the hotel played in it anyway...so it really wasn't a big issue. Of course it was somewhat noisy, but what do you expect when you stay on Ocean Blvd in the middle of vacation season!? The staff was extremely nice and willing to make your stay better if need be. The only problem I can think of that we had was the room service person. One day she came at 9:30 in the morning...and seemed peeved we were still in the room! Another day, she never showed up and the front desk person was going room to room asking if anyone needed towels or anything. Overall, I thought the price was perfect for the hotel. The location was nice. It was within walking distance from most things. I definately recommend this for a family on a budget!!

Quebella - Jul 19, 2009
We had a wonderful stay at the Virginian. The room was clean and smelled fresh. The hotel staff was very friendly and seemed ... to enjoy their jobs. The one thing I didn't particularly like was how close the swimming pool was to our room. The pool was never closed and a few nights there were people outside our room door talking loud and keeping my husband awake. It would be great to have a closing time for the pool.

This was such a great location since we were there for the beach. It was just across the street. All the staff we ... encountered were very friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. Ours had a full size 'fridge' and a microwave. The shower head was a little low and the towels exfoliated as well as dried you (little joke) but for the price....I will definitely stay here again! Very good over all experience!!

There wasn't anything that we needed. When we did the staff helped us with whatever we needed. They were courteous and prompt ... answering our calls. We spent most of our time out site seeing and visiting with family. The room was clean and comfortable. It was very hot while we were there and the air conditioner work very well. The towels were clean as well as the toilet and shower. The beds were hard but tolerable, and the sheets were clean. overall it was well worth the money we spent. I would recomend it to friends and family. We plan to stay there next yr. when we return.
