Stayed one night

This motel is (blocked) oceanview, just cross one street and you are on the beach. That's about all the good I can write ... about it. If you are a college student, or homeless, you probably won't mind the dirty worn carpets, never ending selection of flies, no hot water!, and somewhat shady clientele, all for $30 a night. I woke up like five times during the night, once to some drunk rabidly destroying an exterior trash receptacle.

Don't bother with Captain George's Seafood Buffet. It used to be great like 10-15 years ago. The crab legs were seriously overcooked, and most of the dishes tasted very bland and way too salty. As an alternative, I would suggest a satisfying quality lobster or seafood dinner at Catch 31 for a cheaper price.

It was real close to the beach and the ocean is beutiful. I just wished the front desk would communicate with their cleaning staff as to who is staying longer so they would not bang on your door early in the morning when you have your do not disturb sign on

Didnt spend much time in the hotel since mainly used it for sleeping at night. Thin bed sheets, strong carpet cleaner smell, ... and killed a few roaches. Price was decent but family didnt like it. Good location but probably wouldnt go here again. Has been renovated but still old feel. Internet was a bit slow and dropped out often.

GOOD BARGAIN
granddaddy Sep 28, 2009
For the price, this was an ecellent room. Although it lacked anything spectacular in exterior appearance, the rooms were very ... clean, with fridge & microwave. The TV had a good quality picture and the furnishings were nice. Since it was the end of the season, I thought the room would have shown more wear & tear, but the only thing I noticed were a few scratches on one wall. Having stayed at the oceanfront Travelodge, a few blocks down the street, at an earlier date, I thought the bathroom was much larger and more accommadating here. For a 2 star hotel across the street from the beach, you can't beat the deal. Plan on getting your breakfast elsewhere.

Affordable, yet close to the beach
RileysMom Aug 21, 2009
This was not the Hilton, but for the price, we would stay again. Very close to the beach (right across the street from ... public access). Rooms were cleaned daily. Toilet seat was broken but got fixed immediately, as did the refrigerator that was not working. Staff was very friendly. Continental breakfast was not that great (my only real complaint) but we had a frige and microwave in our room. Room was quiet and there was also a laundry area for guests!

VA Beach Travel Lodge
Riverdance Aug 15, 2009
Continental breakfast was small store donuts, coffee, and orange or apple juice in the small lobby entrance. Was on 3rd ... floor, up 3 flights of stairs. Had booked and paid for 3 people; when third guy showed up I asked for cot since only had two beds, they said it would be another $10 and I said OK; never came, they didn't have one. Toilet seat dangerously ajar. When we checked in, lady behind counter was screaming at some maintenance guy for not showing up the day before. To play cards, we had to go out and buy pen and paper, none in room. Valuables Safe in room didn't work, so we had to continuously shuttle guns and wallets from car to room to secure during beach days.

a damper on a fun trip
Katrina Oct 17, 2008
The travelodge in Virginia Beach was comfy and the bathroom looked like it had recently been redone so was very nice. But the ... lock on the door was broken, not the key part but the latch. That made it scary so we put the chair by the door every night. I do not usuually do that. When we left in the early morning there was no clerk there or no night deposit for our keys to be left at. We were unsure what to do. I think they should have something there for that.

This motel half block from the boardwalk is an ideal location for travelers who want to be near the beach but not pay high ... beach front prices. Parking is very convenient and easy to get in and out so that you can drive easily to other locations in Virginia Beach.

Good place to sleep & get clean
Kirsten Jun 19, 2008
The room was conservative and was just what we needed; beds, bathroom (very small), refrigerator, microwave. There was ... nothing fancy, especially the continental breakfast. Staff was very friendly. We stayed on the 3rd floor and thus had a ocean view from outside our door. The view was across the street and between 2 other hotels. That was exciting. I have no complaints. If your looking to save and don't need a real ocean front view or anything fancy, it should do. The ocean is a very short walk across the street.

Easy and Cheap
Brandy Sep 26, 2007
The Travelodge was easy to check in and out of, and no problems with noise or service. You get what you pay for. It's very ... cheap but don't expect any hotel meals or room service. The room was mostly clean and the staff very nice but on our last day the toilet handle broke. The pool is outdoor and open most of the day and is rarely occupied so no complaints there and the room also come with dishes and utensils to cook with on their in-room oven/stove and microwave.

Nice Ocean View, but small & smelly
Karin Aug 30, 2007
The Virginia Beach Travelodge is a place to stay if you are out on the beach or enjoying the many stores along the strip and ... you don't want to stay in your room most of the day. Although the oceanfront view is beautiful, I don't like the fact that the bathrooms are extremely small. The rooms also had a foul odor that lingered throughout the room. So if you don't mind having the toilet and the bathtub touching your knees simultaneously while you're using the bathroom and having the smell of mildew in your room, then the Virginia Beach Travelodge is the palce for you.

Hotel upkeep
kimberly Jul 23, 2007
THe hotel is in a great location. As for the up keep of the hotel I was very dissatified. The vent in the ceiling for the ... air conditioning had mold on it. there was a hole behind the bathroom door was was patched and not painted. They had taken out the air conditioner unit from the outside wall and there was a hole in the wall that went completly through from the outside to the inside of the room. You could see straight through it. There was a safe in the room for you to use except it did not work...you could not lock the safe. the painting was very poor on the outside of the unit. When you used the shower if someone ran water in another part of the hotel you either got scolded or ice cold water. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I feel that Travel Lodge need to have much better upkeep on there hotels.

The only thing about this motel was location. Dead bug on bathroom sink. Shower and bathroom floor filthy, had to clean ... ourselves.Non smoking room reeked of smoke had to spray lysol. Hole in shower ceiling. Unfriendly staff and had hard time for maid to bring extra towels and vaccum floor. Door sticks and had to reprogram room key every day. Fight in upstairs room, had to call police in middle of night. Would NOT stay in this motel every again. It was so bad I wrote Travelodge's corporate office of this motel in need of bad repair.
